Ciara's POV
Everything else went by in a blur. To my relief, Vulcan did not strike me, and the rebellion within me, fragile and not quite strong enough, remained suppressed, lest I meet a gruesome fate at the hands of my unloving husband.
We had a seemingly normal dinner, with Vulcan remaining silent and scowling the entire time. I chose to ignore him, taking some pleasure in his obvious anger, at least feeling that he was experiencing a fraction of the emotions I constantly grappled with because of him.
Vulcan retired to bed early, leaving me with zero space to occupy. As I prepared for sleep, I managed to push him to the side, covering my ears with a pillow to muffle his low, annoying snores. Despite his efforts to toss me off the bed in his fitful sleep, I fortunately remained, finally drifting off around 4 AM.
