Cassio watched as Verena's eyes closed, her body going limp under the influence of the sedative. He let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. The situation was spiraling out of control, and he needed to regain control—both over Verena and over himself.
"What's happening to her?" he demanded, turning to the doctor who was packing away the supplies.
The doctor adjusted his glasses, a look of concern on his face. "It seems she's experiencing a form of dissociative amnesia. It could be triggered by trauma or extreme stress. Her mind is essentially blocking out memories as a defense mechanism."
Cassio frowned. "Is this permanent?"
"It's hard to say. She could regain her memories slowly, or they might come back suddenly with the right trigger. But for now, she needs rest and a stable environment."
