Chapter 4 - At the study

After Huoqiang had eaten to her fill, the table was cleared. Seeing that her needs had been met, Li Jun stood up.

"Follow me," he said coldly, walking away.

"Hmph!" Huoqiang scoffed, "how bossy!"

Nonetheless, she stood up and followed her god-like host into his study.

Walking into the study, she was quite drawn to the tall shelves with the largest number of books she'd ever seen.

"Wow!" She gasped.

This was definitely one of the finest studies she'd seen.

"Have you read all these books?" Huoqiang asked though she doubted it. No one could read these much books. It would take her a million years before she herself could read half.

Surprisingly, the male fellow already seated at a table said,

"Yes I have. I've just ordered more."

Dumbstruck, the petite lady stared at him.

"You can't be serious. You're joking right?

These much books! It's impossible!" She ranted in disbelief.

"I doubt if I wear the expression of a joker. You could try me if you want but that would be later. There's something we must discuss." Li Jun stated

"I really must try you," Huoqiang whispered to herself, then in a louder voice she said; "you want to speak with me?"

"Yes. Sit," he said, doing nothing but staring at the seat in front of him.

"You know pulling the seat as a gentleman gesture wouldn't kill you," she said and sat down before him.

"I'm afraid I'm no gentleman," he said coldly.

Huoqiang rolled her eyes and stared at him but when she saw those icy blue eyes tearing deep into hers coldly, she looked down immediately. Maybe she shouldn't overplay with this man, he has quite a bitter temperament atimes.

"Your memories,"

"_"

"Are they still intact?" Li Jun asked.

"I don't know. I don't seem to remember things. Maybe try asking me questions, I might remember." Huoqiang said. She wanted to remember so badly too. Though this place was really comfortable, she hated to be a burden on others. She needed to know her roots to avoid problems.

Li Jun seemed to think about it for a split second as he stroked his chin with his fingers making him look seductive.

"Alright. Do you remember who your father is?" Li Jun asked.

"Umm..." Huoqiang tried with all her might to recall any memory of hers where she had a father but nothing came, no memory.

"I can't remember anything," she blurted out in frustration.

"You don't?? Yet you know that you are Huoqiang Lee of the Zu flame tribe? That's what you said earlier," Li Jun said in a rather lazy voice.

"Well that seems to be the only thing that pops up in my head at the moment," Huoqiang tried to explain.

Li Jun let out a long sigh, his fingers massaging his nose bridge.

"I could leave if you want; I hate to be a burden on others," Huoqiang said silently.

"I am not worried about the burden, miss Huoqiang. I could feed multiples for decades," he said, "what I'm trying to do here is to make you remember so you'll know if you want to stay here or not plus I wouldn't want future... phenomenon where your.. family might want to cause trouble for mine over someone who's not worth it."

Hearing this, Huoqiang's face turned red in anger.

"How rude! Me? Not worth it? Such manners!"

Li Jun paid no heed to her ventures but rather focused on the new set of books he had on the table.

"You really should behave more gentlemanly," Huoqiang concluded noticing Li Jun's attention had been drifted.

"Like I said.." he began staring deep at the lady before him, "I....am no gentleman."

"But why?" She asked randomly.

Li Jun said nothing but focused still on his new books.

"So you mean you'd let me stay here? Till I regain my memories?" Huoqiang asked wanting to change the topic.

"I believe my words were clear enough before but since it seems like your memories are proving weak I'll repeat," Li Jun said in a mocking tone then in the most laziest voice ever said;

"You may stay as long as you are no trouble".

Huoqiang grunted. "You're trouble".

"I didn't catch that.."

"_" "Nothing" Huoqiang terrified spitted out.

"Hmph" said the latter and went back to reading.

They both fell into silence for awhile until Huoqiang could take it no longer.

"So... apart from Mister Shang and the other servants, you live here alone? With no family?" Huoqiang asked.

Li Jun slightly turned his gaze from the book and kept it on her. He stared at her for a split second then drifted his gaze back to the book he was reading.

"I do have a family. My brothers are on the battlefield, my only sister has been married off and my parents are... currently attending to pressing issues elsewhere," Li Jun said in a lazy manner that had become habitual of him.

"Ohhh...and you're not on the battlefield because...?"

"I have to stay here and watch over the people. If I'm needed I'll be called."

"Ahhh," Huoqiang nodded her head in understanding, "are you the lastborn?"

Li Jun once again looked up at the petite lady seated across him and wondered how he had so much patience for her.

"Yes, yes I am," he replied

"Ohhh no wonder you're so grumpy and hot-tempered," she said aloud.

Li Jun snapped the book shut and glared at Huoqiang wanting to strangle her for her words buh when his eyes met with those misty cognac eyes, it felt like a gentle summer breeze had blown right through his body. Even though, the haughty face grew nonetheless haughtier and she couldn't help but snap at Li Jun.

"What are you looking at?" She barked at him then smirked, "I'm not that pretty for you to gawk at."

"Exactly," was the simple yet savage reply an oh! dear Huoqiang was flushed with embarrassment and anger.

"You.." she began but halted and stood up, "I'll be in my room."

She took a slight how and with a pained face she left the study.

Li Jun smirked at the retreating figure.

"Serves you right," and then like nothing happened he returned back to reading.
