Chapter 41 - Sudden Insanity

"No?" I asked, genuinely shocked to see my master rejecting any offer of me voluntarily wanting to train with her. "Wait, how come? Have I done something wrong?"

My breath starts to grow heavier, as the chaos deep within me starts to stir. I'm thinking of bad things again...negative things.

"You did nothing wrong," Alvana smirks proudly and pats my back, easing my worries with some sort of...spell that calmed me. It felt intoxicating...but the dizzy feeling only lasted for a second. "Why do you overthink a lot? You keep hesitating, disciple,"

I only look at her with confusion...for two reasons.

One is that the power dynamics have changed again, which I don't mind.

And two is that I never thought of that...which I mind.

Why do I keep hesitating? Why am I such a coward? From where does this stem from?...is it really because of my personality? Or is there something else deeper to it?

"Hesitating...I don't know...I don't know why I do it," I hung my head down low, looking at my clothes that had already self-repaired a long time ago. It's a great equipment...but I don't feel deserving of it.

Or the fact that I have the guidance of my master.

...or the fact that I am my mother's son.

From the side, Alvana is only checking me out. Not in that way.

She's checking how I'm reacting right now. I'm sure she could sense my nervousness...my...I don't know how to describe it. It's not an insecurity...it's a sense of restlessness from an unknown origin.

What exactly is this feeling?

Alvana walks to me and shakes my body rather roughly. "Disciple, get a hang of yourself," She sighs...and after a few very vigorous shakes, I finally get out of the trance and get my head cleared up.

"I...I'm sorry master. It's just...I don't know what to do anymore," I tell her, my breath shaking. "I feel like...I've been making bad decisions this week...I've been more aggressive, and more irritated by everything...and for the times I display mercy and kindness...I do it to creatures that do not share the same sentiments..." I ramble, gripping my head tightly and looking up at my master with a sort of insanity in my eyes.

She blinks rapidly, wrinkles forming in her forehead...she doesn't understand where I'm coming from.

Or why...I'm even feeling like this.

"Why..." She pauses, looking deep into my eyes before saying anything else. She's stunned, unsure of how to proceed...but when she finally says something, I start to hyperventilate once again.

"What happened to you in the Wraith's Bequeath?"

~~~
Shun Cailworth, the prestigious heir of the Cailworth family, was draped in luxurious clothing from head to toe...only to arrive in an area that he never been to. To a place...that he would have never considered even going to. It was such a place that reeked of pungent smell-- a mixed scent that resulted from all the foods being displayed altogether.
Yep, he was in the marketplace...and not just any marketplace! A marketplace that people from the lower and middle classes frequented. Usually, because of the low prices and lively atmosphere made it easy to shop for ingredients.
This particular place was none other than Sunny Market...a huge and rather moderately unkempt place that was owned by an elderly couple that wanted to help the neighborhood around them.
However, as soon as they died and had no heir to acquire the said area...the land and building titles were transferred over to the government.
In fact...this place should have been demolished by the government 10 years ago for plans to build a new mall...but the protests from both the vendors working in Sunny's Market, as well as most people who come to the area, kept the whole place untouched.
In turn, the government had no other choice but to cave into the wishes of the people.
So then, Sunny's Market has been thriving for a total of 50 years...and yet, there have been no renovations of the sort that made the area more pleasing to the eyes. The government still wanted their hands on the land that Sunny's Market was built on...and this was their way of retaliating against the public's wants.
For fifty whole years, Sunny's Market has stayed the same throughout time...so then, why was Shun Cailworth, a billionaire's son coming to this place? Well...that's easy.
...he wanted to get some fresh imported strawberries.
And those? Those were not found anywhere in the places where he usually bought stuff.
...so then, for the whole 5 hours after he woke up and took a bath, he's been driving around with his Koenigsegg CCXR, going from market to another market just to find said strawberries.
But there was none. There was none to be found.
So then, his last resort was Sunny's Market...a place he would have dreaded to come.
"I really came here..." He tells himself, shuddering at the thought of going inside someplace that was plagued with rubbish. He didn't like how Sunny's Market looked.
For instance, he hated how the ceiling was practically installed with huge fans that looked like they could fall down any second now. And true to his fear, that has happened a couple of times...
And to another instance, he hated how there were molds and stains in most of the items in Sunny's Market. And once again, was something to be genuinely afraid of. Dying from tetanus due to colliding on the walls with rusted nails sticking out could happen.
"But still...I want those strawberries. I'm going to get some today." He tells himself, grumbling inwardly as he can already think of what's going to happen once he goes inside the market.
...and once again, he was right! For a whole 20 minutes, he was bombarded with people who were bothering him. Everyone came close to him just to get his picture and autograph...some even go as far as to block his path and back him to a corner.
It was a chaotic scenery that could have made any man go insane...but this was Shun Cailworth. Of course he was already used to this.
He gave the people what they wanted and treated everyone in a diplomatic manner...with a wide smile, a fake tone, and a friendly demeanor, he managed to calm the public, carrying on with finding his precious strawberries.
...so, for the past 30 minutes, he's strolled from stand to stand whilst offering others autographs and pictures along the way.
And guess what?
That's right! No strawberries!
Shun felt infuriated, but he made sure not to show it. He had to keep his calm...to always look neutral and friendly when he was not dealing with people. He had an image. A huge public image and reputation to maintain.
But when a young kid who looked like they were 7 years old stole the keys in his pocket and ran away with them, what else could he do...
Except run?
...so he ran.
This time, not even putting up an act and showing a well-cultivated demeanor.
Hell no! He was pissed!
How could he not be? Those were the keys to his Koenigsegg CCXR!
