Chapter 43 - Market Escapade

Panting breathlessly, Shun was running through the marketplaces like a madman on the loose...and yet, he still looked dashing and charming. His hair was slicked back from the wind breezing through his body.

His steps vertebrated throughout the ever-noisy commerce area, ironically and unusually sounding dull compared to his heavy and forced steps.

They were strong and rapid movements that were the result of his years of working on his body.

He moved to the left, trying to put the child in a corner and catch them...but the child was smart, making use of their advantage of the routes of the market.

The child swung down low, sliding down a table that a vendor was selling on. The fruits and drinks, which were laid on the table were knocked off forcefully and hit Shun.

It worked as a momentary distraction, as Shun's head was instantly hit by the mangoes and splashed by the drinks.

It catches Shun off guard, as he now looks like a prince who was ridiculed like a jester...whose good looks only contributed to making the situation worse than it was.

A paradoxical situation...that caused all the attention of all those in the market. Some were laughing and ridiculing him...but most were concerned. Concerned of the wrath that could befall Sunny's Market.

The Cailworths were a force to be reckoned with.

Shun was seething by now, feeling the mango juice drip into his Loro Piana suit jacket...a luxury item that could easily for thousands. Everything felt sticky and uncomfortable to him as if he had fallen into a murky puddle that left his whole body covered in goo.

And yet...despite all of this, he stood up and wiped his suit with his fingers that were now wet with mango juice. He looked calm and composed, putting on a show for the public despite already feeling infuriated on the inside.

It relieved everyone to know that he wasn't going to take this experience personally...that he was rational enough to not do anything drastic.

But his inner rage couldn't be quelled.

Not when the child was gone from sight...and so were the keys to his Koenigsegg CCXR.

"That child is going to pay..." He tells himself, trying to calm himself...but his frustration is slowly getting the better of him. His expression starts to look grim, as the corners of his drooped down low.

...and just when he felt that he couldn't contain his feelings any longer, someone...an old lady who looks like she's in her forties, comes to him with a towel.

"Ah! Sir! Are you alright?" She asks worriedly, forcibly shoving the towel on Shun with distressed brows. She then looks up at him, holding onto her cane as she sees his expression.

She then quickly retracts the towel from him and backs away.

...but he stays stuck in motion, standing like a statue and glaring at her.

Yet nothing bad happens.

5 seconds pass, and he only sighs and grabs the towel from her. "I'm fine, I appreciate your concern," Shun smiles warmly, causing the old woman to nod in satisfaction.

"It's not good to be drenched in water...do you want to change clothes?" She asks, inciting a confused reaction from Shun. It was an unexpected situation...does she not know who he is? Why is she treating him like the average person?

...is she not afraid of the Cailworths?

His mouth closes by itself, the frown on his face noticeable. He doesn't even dare put on an act...he can't. He's incapable of it when he's dealing with a situation that's as confusing as this.

"I...I'm fine," He wants to say...but the words that come out of his mouth are those of his true desires. "I want to change clothes. Do you have any spare ones?" He asks, replying to the old lady with a fake ambient tone of voice.

The old lady doesn't mind his tone much and just carries on with giving him a hospitable smile. "Okay, follow me,"

Shun nods, planning to follow her after he finishes his business.

He looked at the stall vendor who was selling those mangoes and juices. The owner was devastated at the mess that the kid made...so, for the sake of public appearances, Shun played the empathetic person, giving him his business card. "Please contact me for compensation...I will make sure to properly compensate you for your losses,"

The stall vendor then looks stricken by the clouds, definitely lucking out by getting an offer such as this. The stall vendor only nods, happy to have gotten such a lucky and free cash-grab.

Shun only smiles, following after the fast old lady who went further to the South side of the market. "This way! Come!" She calls out, seeing Shun being far away from her.

He was reluctant to come any closer...knowing how many scams could happen on a day-to-day basis, but he felt like he should follow the old lady. To see where she goes, and why he has to be there.

And so he did.

He followed the old lady for 5 minutes, ending up meeting with two other vendors. One of them, a man, was looking at the displayed goods while holding a pen and paper. As for the other? She was there at the back opening up the boxes.

The man, upon hearing the familiar sounds of the cane plopping down the ground, immediately directly his direction to the source. "Felicia!" He greets her with an upbeat tone of voice.

However, this look of happiness changed instantaneously as seen by the pale-struck look on his face.

"Why is he--" He asks, backing away defensively and glaring at Shun. This was an alarming situation to him. It's unusual to spot a literal billionaire in a shabby place such as this.

He stays silent for a while, which makes the other vendor, the woman who was looking at the boxes, feel confused. "Why did you stop-" She cuts herself off, shock and surprise shown in her bright eyes and wide smiles as she sees Felicia and the drenched gentleman beside her.

"Shun Cailworth?!" She squeals, making the guy beside her hit his head with his palm. Felicia, who was standing beside Shun only looked at the both of them awkwardly.

First of all...she didn't even know who Shun Cailworth was! Like sure, he had a nice suit on, but to see that he was rather well-known?

That's something new.

And second of all..she was hoping that this weird interaction between her co-workers wouldn't cause many more problems for this "Shun Cailworth".

She wants to help, not add up more problems.

So, she tries to break the silence in an attempt to clear up what's been happening, but Shun does it faster. "Hello," He greets with a wide smile, waving at both of the vendors with a perfect stance.

...but ironically?

It only made the whole situation worse than it was...
