Suddenly, voices from the foyer echoed through the doors of the waiting room, accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps and the shattering of glass.
Lina quickly opened the door and went outside to see what the commotion was about. Before she left, she snatched back the contract so that her uncle couldn't snatch her copy. Not that she needed it, but she wanted to be spiteful.
"That must be your loverboy," William commented dryly, fully aware of whose presence would cause such a stir among the staff.
"He's not my loverboy," Lina retorted, storming ahead to find out who it actually was.
Lina would normally not dare such disrespect, but if her uncle had respected her decision, she wouldn't be acting out of line.
"What did I say?" William grumbled in disgust as his eyes fell upon the infuriating Kaden DeHaven, who had the audacity to smirk upon seeing them.
"He isn't," Lina maintained, even though her heart fluttered at the sight of Kaden... and the heap of gifts he brought.
