Chapter 7 - Escaped The Toxic Trap

She closed her eyes waiting for the worst, as her body was stiff. She wondered if he recognized her if so, she knew she was not far form being dead. "I like your dance moves, I want you to dance for me like that," he whispered into her ears and she could feel alcohol ozzing out of his mouth.

"Or better still, I want to see who you are," he added causing her heart to race even faster.

"Oh, Lord! This is my end!" She cried in her heart, fearing he'll strip away her disguise.

As he brought his hand slowly to her face, ready to remove her mask, a sudden interruption burst into the room.

"Master I've been searching everywhere for you!" The person exclaimed, diverting Maxwell's attention and pulling him away from Isadora. "Apologies, ma'am" he said with a brief bow before whisking Maxwell out of the room.

Isadora breathed a sigh of relief as she rapidly departed the room, eager to excape the tense atmosphere. She made her way to the VIP section, arriving there, she saw up to 10 persons waiting for her. She guessed they all had the same name, she spotted Sophia among them. She marched up to her, seized her hand, and pulled her along hastening their exit until they emerged outside.

"Leave me alone, who are you!" Sophia shouted, forcefully removing her hand from Isadora's grip.

Isadora removed the mask, leaving Sophia in the state of shock. "Surprised to see me?" She asked, a smirk on her lips walking closer to Sophia.

"How did you know I was here? How did you find me? Does my dad know I'm here?" She asked, fear etched her features.

"So you didn't think of that before you sneaked out of the house at night. Do you know the stress you made me go through finding you here, what were you even thinking leaving the house at night? You're afraid of your dad, yet you still choose to do what's wrong!" Isadora scolded her, leaving her in a state of panic.

"Please don't tell my dad, I'll do anything!" She pleaded, as her expression turned frantic.

"Tomorrow we can talk about that, for now let's go home before someone finds out," Isaodra answered, a gentle smile of satisfaction crossed her face hearing Sophia's words.

They boarded s taxi home, while in the car Isadora's mind drifted back to her encounter with Maxwell, she couldn't guess what he was doing there, after all he was a billionaire who meet with people from different works of life.

Again she thought it was a teenage friendly party, but the party she just left, was not one at all. Why would they change the venue of the party? Why was  the man looking for Maxwell? All these questions and more lingered in her mind, as they safely got home.

Sophia re-entered the mansion via the back gate, following the same path she had taken when leaving. In contrast, Isadora made her way in through the main front entrance, mirroring her earlier exit. After reaching her room, she thanked Vanessa, and the two women reversed the switch.  Vanessa withdrew to her own room, while Isadora surrendered to exhaustion, falling asleep on the bed.

Sunday morning dawned, and Isadora's eyes fluttered open. It was a day of rest for the Sterling's mansion staff, a chance to escape the grandeur and reconnect with loved ones. But for Isadora, with no family to visit or outside world to explore, she decided to linger in the mansion.

Isadora at all alone in the garden, after making sure the girls were comfortable. She silently hummed her favorite song, as she gently stroke her abdomen. The baby was the only reason why she was there, she hoped no trouble would arise as time goes on.

She felt a gentle tap from behind, turning around swiftly she met Sophia's gaze. "Oh, it's you!" Isadora exclaimed, gesturing her to sit.

"I think this would be the right time to talk," Sophia uttered, and Isadora gave her the go ahead to speak.

"I know I've been rude to you, and I'm sorry about that. Just promise you won't tell anyone what happened last night," she said, rushing her words out.

"I can do that only if you promise me you would respect me, and never ever sneak out at night again," Isadora responded, with a gentle smile.

"I think that's fair enough, I can do that," she answered, a hint of deceit in her tone.

"Okay then, we have a deal," Isadora announced, stretching out her hand for a shake.

"Deal," Sophia replied, taking her hand with a forced smile on her face, then she left Isadora there to continue to enjoy the moment.

Meanwhile, Maxwell was engaged in a conversation with Marcus in his office. "How can you tell me you haven't gotten any information about who drugged me last night!" Maxwell shouted, his eyes blazed with a fierce intensity.

"We're digging deep, but so far, the trail leads to your business rivals. Douglas Den, the hotel mogul, is our prime suspect. He might be trying to smear your name by setting you up with that woman," Marcus explained, at a rapid pace.

"If it's Douglas Den, he's probably overplayed his hand. Uncover every shred of evidence from last night and learn everything you can about the mysterious woman. I need a comprehensive report on my desk before the sunshine meeting tomorrow," he commanded, his anger evident.

"Yes Master," Marcus replied, bowing his head slightly before standing up to leave.

"Oh, and one more thing - what's the status on the Dante's investigation? How far have you gotten in looking into his involvement with the Calandro crew  and more importantly, his involvement with Isadora?" He inquired, his expression cold.

"Uncovering information about the Calandro crew is like trying to penetrate a fortress - their operation is shrouded in secrecy. The investigation will be a long and challenging one, as they operate in the shadows, always staying one step ahead of the light." Marcus explained, his words rushing out like a torrent of rain.

"I see, well then, it leaves me no choice but to get information form the source itself. Arrange a meeting for me with Isadora tommorow, she's got some questions to answer," he ordered, waving Marcus off as he bowed and left his office.
