The presence of Alexander Stratton at the firm two days in a row sparked another wave of chatter. Seeing the boxes of drinks and pastries being carried to the lunch area, employees quickly got up from their seats, chatting excitedly as they headed towards the break room.
Just as Emily was reviewing a report from Kai, her office door swung open without a knock. She looked up, confused, and saw Alex standing there.
"Let's go get some lunch," he said.
Hearing the chatter flowing in through the open door, Emily glanced out to see people gathering in the lunch area. "You brought them lunch again?" she asked incredulously.
"Just coffee and pastries from downstairs," Alex replied. Then, with a serious expression, he added, "Should I order them lunch too?"
"No, no. You don't have to bring something every time you come here. And... why are you here?" Emily asked, still puzzled.
