The next morning, birds began to sing from the branches outside, and the sun shone through the leaves, casting dappled light into the bedroom. Andy woke up first and quickly made his way to Emma's room to join Emily and her, but found Emma sleeping alone in her bed. Thinking Emily might already be up, he decided to go back and get ready. As he was leaving, Emma sat up on her elbow and called out, "Andy?"
Rubbing her eyes and looking around, she asked, "Where is Mommy?"
Andy shrugged. "Maybe she got up already. Now get up and get ready for breakfast."
Emma nodded, and after getting dressed, she joined Andy in the hallway. Together, they looked down from the railing and met Margaret's eyes.
"Good morning," she greeted them with a warm smile.
"Good morning, Margaret," they replied in unison.
"Why don't you come down for some breakfast?" Margaret suggested.
Emma nodded again, but Andy asked, "Is Mommy down there already?"
