"This sucks" Raze sighed in defeat.
He had big and deep dark circles under his eyes as he had failed to sleep despite his best efforts for the past few hours.
Apparently his last thought about a monster showing up had spooked him too much and caused his paranoia to act up.
Due to which he couldn't sleep.
It was still pretty dark, and he couldn't really tell the time, but if I had to guess, it was probably already past 2 a.m.
Usually he would be asleep by now, and yet here he was today, walking aimlessly through a dangerous forest with his spear in hand.
His stomach hurt from hunger, and his throat was parched from thirst.
'I hate this'
At this point, he had pretty much given up on keeping track of how many times he had complained in just the past few hours.
While he had been trying his best to adapt and survive, the changes in his world and lifestyle were far too extreme for him to just get used to.
But, alas, there was nothing he could do except throw it out.
'God, that sounds so cringe' Raze almost wanted to cry due to how cringe-worthy that slang was.
He remembered hearing his classmates use that slang when he was still in school, so he also wanted to try it out.
A decision he very much regretted.
After this, Raze went on a whole internal tangent about how cringe-worthy modern-day slang his classmates used to use was.
Of course, the reason he distracted himself like this in the middle of such a dangerous place wasn't random but rather very deliberate.
He was trying to distract himself from his growing hunger and thirst.
If he remembered correctly, he had read somewhere that by not thinking about one's hunger, it was possible to endure it for longer than normal, and it seemed to be working.
Of course, such a method had a very obvious flaw, and that was that he was distracted and could potentially be attacked from anywhere, so he chose to stop thinking about stupid things and focus on what he needed to do here.
His plan today was pretty simple, and it involved getting experience using his spear as well as securing food and water.
One might wonder why he wasn't just not eating the meat of the monsters he had killed and had in his inventory.
The answer to that was pretty obvious.
It was too disgusting for him to lower himself to eat that nasty and dirty meat.
After all, Raze was a modern-day person, so for him to lower himself to eat uncooked and nasty monster meat was too unbelievable.
And this was without even considering all the potential hygiene issues eating something like that would have.
So for now, he was just looking for some fruits and berries to eat.
'Hopefully they're not poisonous.
As that thought passed through his head, he stopped.
'Fuck me sideways'
Raze almost wanted to cry out in anger at his overly paranoid mind, which constantly kept scaring him with thoughts like this.
Now that the possibility of whatever fruit and mushroom he found being poisonous had been planted inside his head, there was no way he could eat any of them.
'It would be too embarrassing if I died on the second floor due to eating some poisonous fruit like an idiot'
And technically speaking, he wasn't that wrong in a completely unknown environment like the one he found himself in.
The chances of whatever fruit he decided to eat being poisonous were overwhelmingly high.
In the end, he had no choice but to eat monster meat if he wanted to survive.
"Fuck this world"
