Chereads / With These Hands / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Vincent had just left and Liam was sitting on the couch, staring blankly at the small bottle of pills in his hand.

The pills of immunity.

He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that he had just cured cancer. Though he was initially over the moon about how he could solve previously thought incurable diseases, he didn't expect that he would do it again so soon and by mistake at that.

The last part was probably the part that bothered him the most.

He stopped himself from sighing, tossing the bottle back into his inventory as he got changed, ditching his hoodie for a black jacket.

As he got out the door and out of the house, he realized that the fear he had of Gotham city was greatly diminished. He attributed that to him finally coming to terms with his new abilities.

'I wonder what mom would say.' He idly wondered before making his way to the address that David gave him.

He took his time making his way there, walking leisurely seeing as he still had time to spare.

Xx-Xx-Xx

He soon found himself walking into a club, the loud music and clashing scents disorienting him for a moment before he quickly hid it.

Scantily dressed females and eager males of different ages danced excitedly, thoroughly enjoying the beat of the music.

'It's more packed than I expected.' He thought as he slid through the crowd, appraising anyone he laid his eyes on to find his target.

With the size of the crowd plus the people he could see in the corner of his eyes partaking in different forms of substance, he could only assume that he would make a lot of money if he could get his Euphoria drug distributed here.

'There are more problems in Gotham than you can drink to.' He mused as he made his way to the bar.

"Aren't you a bit young to be hanging around here?" The bartender asked with a small frown as she scrutinized him.

"I don't see how that's your problem as long as I can pay up." He shot back, pulling out a few bills on the counter. "Give me a margarita." He added, a challenging smirk on his features.

The woman looked between him and the money, eyes flickering quickly before snatching it up and getting said drink.

He barely stopped himself from rolling his eyes as he eyed the cup that was brought before him, appraising it, a habit he had quickly developed.

"So, can I ask what brings you here, alone for that matter?" She questioned, fluttering her lashes as he took a sip from the glass.

Liam gave her a look, already knowing her angle. He'd shown that he had a decent amount of money so she didn't want to let a potential source of money slip away.

He could only be amused at that thought process.

"Oh it's nothing special. I just wanted to catch a little break from the crazies of the city." He answered, getting an understanding nod from her.

"I can't blame you there. I'm Joselyn, you are?" She questioned.

"A minor you're attempting to flirt with." He quipped. "William, but my friends call me Liam."

She curled an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "Friends huh? Do I count?"

"I don't know. That depends on you?" He returned with the same tone.

There was a short but comfortable pause between them as they fell into a staring contest which she broke a few moments later.

"Well Liam," she started, putting emphasis on the name. "I get off at 8, just in case you were wondering."

The invitation was as clear as the sly smirk on her face as she moved to the side to attend to another customer.

Despite his crack at her for being older than him, she didn't seem that much older. She looked to be twenty at most.

In his thoughts, he immediately tensed as a hand landed on his shoulder.

"Liam, you're just on time!" He turned to see an excited David staring at him. The other boy seemed even more excited than him.

"Why wouldn't I be? So, where is this friend of yours?" Liam asked, downing the rest of the drink in one gulp.

As David led him to the back of the club, he turned to him. "Nice going back there with the bartender. Most guys only get two sentences in before she shuts them down."

"You were one of them?" Liam asked knowingly. The smile on the other boy's face was telling. "Let's put a pin in that for now."

They reached a door which was guarded by two muscled men dressed in dark clothes. The two bodyguards allowed David in, raising a hand to stop Liam in place.

"He's with me." David addressed them with a hint of exasperation.

"Rules are rules kid. We've got to search him." One of them said, his voice coming out deep and almost intimidating.

Almost.

Liam raised his hands gently, freely allowing them to search him. A few pat downs later, he was allowed in, stepping into the private office and shutting the door behind him.

His eyes focused on the lone man in the office sitting behind the desk.

+++++

-[Kevin Brooks]

-[Owner of a decently successful night club. Kevin indulges in multiple illegal activities which includes but is not limited to smuggling, blackmail, drug dealing. He is becoming desperate for a way to make his club more popular than his competitors.]

+++++

He filed the knowledge of his illegal activities for later, he couldn't save everyone. He was here to possibly make a business deal that would bring in a lot of money, other things can come later.

"Hello boys, I hope they didn't give you much trouble outside." The man said in a questioning manner.

Liam shook his head. "Not at all." It wasn't like they would find anything he didn't want them to. Anything of importance was stashed in his inventory.

"The name is Kevin." The man said, giving him an introductory handshake.

"It's Liam. I'm sure you're a busy man so I would hate to take too much of your time." Liam said, halting any attempt that Kevin might have been thinking of making to butter him up.

He didn't want to tempt his ego.

"Straight to business, I can get behind that." Kevin nodded slowly. "I'm sure you saw a few people outside getting wasted in different ways. I've been in the business for many years."

"I can count the number of drugs that can give that kind of feeling and still have fingers left to spare. I want to make you a deal."

Liam leaned in just a bit. "I'm listening."

"I want 40 kilos of that stuff, as soon as possible." Kevin said, almost causing Liam's eyes to burst out of their sockets had it not been for his self control.

'That's a lot.' All he saw was dollar signs.

"That's quite the amount. Whether or not I can deliver depends on how much you're willing to pay." Liam said, the implications clear.

Kevin smirked as he reached underneath his desk, pulling out a briefcase and laying it out on the table for him.

+++++

-[Briefcase]

-[A briefcase containing a hundred thousand dollars in cash.]

+++++

He barely hid the way his eyes stilled before he reached for it, opening it up to inspect it with his own eyes.

It was the first time he saw so much money in cash in real life. Even David, who had been quiet so far, was stupefied.

"A hundred grand in cash and the remaining half when you deliver." Kevin said, breaking him out of his hidden stupor.

'This isn't all of it?!' He barely stopped himself from asking. 'He must be really desperate.'

He took on a considering look and did some mental math. Going by how much he spent to make the drug, he would need around thirty thousand to make the requested amount.

That meant that he could complete the order with this deposit and still have about seventy left to spare, and that was without taking the remaining hundred grand into consideration.

He didn't have enough money left on his own to complete the order so he was completely happy with this deal.

"We have a deal." Liam finally answered, meeting the man's smirk.

"Wonderful. Welcome to the big league." Kevin said, giving Liam one final, firm handshake.
