They spend a couple days getting to know each other before the adults decide to pound them into the ground and they figure about a few months before they start questioning Asta on his fighting styles on the third day Yami begins testing everyone's physical fitness needless to say the Black Bulls are a bunch of lazy slackers but Asta is as fit as mid level junior magic knight not a rookie next he tests their mana capacity by having them generating a mana orb of varying sizes then holding them for an hour next he has them create a mana shield then has them attack that person until every one has finished if one person makes it through that person starts over again he has them do this until everyone does it and they can only do it with mana blasts or mana attacks.
Now he has them working out their bodies doing crunches push ups running jumping swimming and various other exercises after resting their muscles he has them spar with hand to hand it turns out that only Vanessa Luck Zora and Magna can fight the others rely too much on their magic so Yami begins teaching the squad how to fight properly by teaching them the Clover kingdom militia fighting style they take to it pretty well they also learn the fighting style of the magic knights of the Clover kingdom Asta learns both fighting styles as well along with the Black Bulls in fact he combines those styles with his other style in secret little did he know that he was being watch by his other teacher who was smirking at her future student.
After the last few weeks events he decided to meet up with Mereoleona to see if she noticed something he didn't so finds her at the volcano sitting at the bottom of it she says i already know why your here and yes I've been keeping an eye on him he's an interesting kid he trains longer and harder than any of the others practicing what you've been teaching while everyone else is asleep sometimes he even puts herbs in the food so you guys sleep through the night so his training isn't disturbed and sometimes he puts herbs in your smokes to give you diarrhea she begins laughing as she says that he begins to get pale and says I've been wondering why they've been tasting and smelling so good lately he pouts do you think you can call him off from pranking me she says no not likely besides everything thus far has been harmless plus he really knows his herbs and everything he has given you has actually helped your stomach i found the left over cigarettes and found out that the herbs help with stomach issues also the herbs he gave your squad help with fatigue and the juice he had them drink help with mana production.
Yami asks when are you going to start training him she says after you teach him to use Ki Yami looks at her in shock not expecting that answer she says also before that in 6 months time we'll teach them mana skin until then we'll teach them as much as we can and yes i'll help you not just with him but the others in fact starting tomorrow i'll join you for each training session i'll take Vanessa Luck Magna Gauche Zora that leaves you with Charmy Finral Grey Gordon Asta Yami says that's fine but why don't you want Asta he seems like a good kid despite the rumors going around she says don't worry i want to train him but i want to make sure that your squad is good and trained up first before i begin his training also tell Julius that after the first year i'm doing an exam which is exactly like the entrance exam except that they won't be competing to get into a squad but to keep their ranks or or to keep from being transferred to another squad.
Yami contacts Marx right away telling him what Mereoleona said needless to he was freaking out as was the wizard king they told her that they'd work to accommodate her request and that it will be held in the same spot as the last one with her being the only judge but he'll be in attendance and asks when do you want me to let the other squads know about it she says 6 months from now this throws everyone off guard wondering why so late she says because once they get caught up with missions and being self important peacocks this oughta bring them down to earth like a bout of diarrhea ha ha they pale at her logic and sweat drop at little.
The wizard king asks are you fine with having them do the exact same tests as last time or do you want to change it up a little bit first she says have them still do those tests then add one more test before they fight each other have them create something out of mana then hold it for an hour then instead of having them pair up make it a tournament that way we can see what they're really capable of as well as how well they can take the extra stress and fatigue of having to use more energy and fighting more than once should they win it will also teach them how to conserve their energy in case they're in a war in the future.
Everyone approves of both ideas because the 2 most important things that run out on the battlefield are stamina and mana this will help them try to conserve both even Marx finds this doable who originally thought that she was going to suggest something crazy like everyone fight her or a series of impossible tests that they wouldn't be able to pass but he's actually impressed with her guessing what Marx is thinking she smirks then says look as much fun as it would be to pound those brats into the dirt we don't have time for that also we have no idea as to whether or not other than the usual incursions on our borders when we'll be attacked by one of the other kingdoms again or have to fight that mysterious fifth kingdom again like we did 50 years ago.
Yami says she is right even though it's been 50 years there's no guarantee that they are going to let things be just because we weren't the aggressors like they were just because we won doesn't mean anything and those warriors fighting skills possessed every fighting style of all 4 kingdoms this makes the others jerk up in alarm then think about 2 other people like that the previous wizard king Conrad Leto and Asta who they still don't have a last name for then they begin to wonder where both of them came from they contact the doctor Owen seeing if he can run a blood test on Asta he says shouldn't be a problem he says i have blood samples of every warrior we've ever fought against as well as every wizard king this shocks everyone but they don't say anything then Owen says send him to me Friday i'll give him a routine checkup along with taking some blood to check for that and anything else that might be harmful to the boy.
After the week of training is up they were told that they have to get a checkup at the doctor by order of the wizard king everyone complained a little but complied so they went to Owen's clinic then lined up outside the door then went in one at a time walking out leaving behind only Asta who was told to come in he did he was asked to remove his shirt he did Own used a stethoscope then checked his vitals then had him remove his pants gave him plenty of fluids and laxatives then said i want everything you can fit into these 2 containers the rest you can flush next is the hernia exam then he was asked to generate his mana for 10 minutes he does Own takes note of everything how it flows fluctuates every minute way that the mana acts as Asta is generating it next he creates an orb out of mana the size of 4 basketballs then holds it for 10 minutes finally is the blood draw Owen takes 10 small vials which leave Asta drained weak and hungry never having his blood drained before.
The doctor chuckles saying this is normal you just need food rest and plenty of fluids then you'll be back to full strength in no time don't worry i had your friends stay to take you to their guild house so you can recover Finral and Vanessa show up through a portal with Yami who picks up Asta doesn't say anything just nods at the doctor then leaves with his subordinates they go about their usual routine Asta wakes up on a couch hearing a loud noise then smells food following it until he sits next to Charmy with his mouth watering about to swipe her food until Vanessa stops him saying you really don't wanna do that Charmy sees his expression his pale color as well as his mana at almost 0 then decides to make a feast with her sheep cooks after its done Asta eats about as much as she does which shocks her and when it comes to drinking he almost matches Vanessa this shocks everyone but they can tell that he's never drank any booze before because he's tipsy after 6 beers.
After the party everyone passed out for a day then spent Sunday relaxing after that it was back to the grindstone with the same arrangement as before they trained their bodies worked on their mana then for the first time in 2 months Yami and Mereoleona had them do mock missions against each other while protecting someone , rescuing someone , retrieving an object , protecting cargo, delivering stuff, chores , guarding a building , combat drills, survival training , dungeon a real one that's always active but it's real low level to train magic knights and finally after 3 months of doing that stuff they have them compete in a tournament to see who's the strongest after everyone has rested the match ups are as follows:
