Given's POV
Hi, it's Given here, I just turned 21 a week ago. And I recently just found my new job, nothing serious. I am a personal assistant to one of the best business people in our country. I had to travel fir this job and thankfully I was hired out of all the people who also wanted it, do I am very grateful.
It is a clothing company that comes up with brands and stuff, my job is just to assist the owner of the business with paperwork's and stuff. And today was my very first day. I was very excited and scared at the same time because I haven't met him before. I just hoped that he would be a very nice person because I couldn't afford to have a hard time at work.
So off to work I went, it was very far from where I was staying but I couldn't afford to pay rent at the hotels near the company, they were very expensive so I just had to stick with what I had. After a long and uncomfortable Uber ride, I arrived. The moment I walked in the building I saw welcoming faces. One of the receptionists offered to accompany me to the owners office so off we went.
On our way she wished me luck and told me to break the record and last fir a month because none of the assistants lasted for a month. This shocked me, I just had to stay for the money man, I wasn't in the mood to just leave it like that. I really needed it. After all, I promised my family that I would take care of myself and find a good job, build my own family at a very young age.
Finally we arrived and we knocked on the door and after five minutes a voice from inside told us to come. So we went in and the lady walked me towards the man that was focusing on his computer and told him that I have arrived. The man didn't even turn around, he just told her to leave and she did. As for me, I was left there standing, I didn't know what to do so I started to introduce myself but the moment I opened my mouth the man asked me who gave me permission to speak . Well, I apologized even though I didn't get it, he then turned around and stoop up, damn, he was tall.
Not to say I've never met tall people, I have met them but they were just not as tall as him, there was just something about him and it was amazing. He was very handsome and I could already see myself picturing our wedding day . Being me is very hard for real, all the men I like tend to do the opposite so my major theme about love us to just dream.
As I was busy naming our first kids, the man infront of me congratulated me for making it through and told me that I had to follow the rules or else I wouldn't make it to the end of the month. That was funny, I was here for the pay, oh, and free designs too. Unwanted ones to specify. He then gave me a list of rules which I had to follow while working for me and the he told me that he would explain all about sorting papers and stuff so he asked me to take a seat, I was getting schooled by a very hot, handsome man, how would I even concentrate.
I believe he did work out because he had muscles, maybe some abs too. Help me God, he didn't make me focus. But I then reminded myself the main reason I was there, so I calmed down. He then explained how to handle his daily files, and also told me the times he had coffee. And he also told me about the food he loved just incase I wouldn't come smelling like something he didn't like .
And just like that, my work had began, today he was adding touchups to one of his best designs, it was just a shirt. Don't judge me, it was my first day, I didn't see anything special about it. I sat down and read the rules, .
1. No talking without permission to.
2.No eating in my office.
3. No sharing our company's designs .
4. Never look at me in the eye.
5.Never take my kindness fir granted and wish for more.
6. I'm your boss not your friend, mind your language
And that was the list, well I could easily work with that. It didn't seem hard. I was afraid of him so there was no way that I would talk to him as my friend. I then checked the time and realised that it was time for his coffee so I ran out to buy it. With my own Money fir goodness sake, it was the money I had to use for my ride but I knew that he would pay me so off to the coffee shop I went.
Even though I hated the smell of any coffee I just had to take it because that man is my boss. After buying the coffee I went back and there he was nearly falling asleep on his chair. I went to him and politely asked him to have his coffee. He then took it and asked me to remind him to give me the money and I told him I would.
I then went to organise his desk and as I was doing it, I noticed a meetings scheduled which clearly stated that he has a meeting in five minutes and there he was , feet on the table. I then told him about the meeting and that's when he jumped out if the chair, he asked me to grab the design he was making and follow him. Turns out, he was meeting up with a client .
And I saved him, and please don't remind me that's it's my job, I just want to be praised for once . After a long walk on the stairs we finally arrived at the board room and there, the person he was supposed to meet was already there. We were only two minutes late so that's something.
Well, I was told to stand the entire process by my boss so I did, meanwhile he continued talking business with the guy. Turns out the man was a regular buyer and he was here for the new design. He just looked at it and told my boss that he would really love to buy for 1.2 million, with all the designs. Wait what!! Let's drift back for a bit.
What's so special about that shirt that he wants to buy it for a million, it was a simple design according to me. Or maybe it's because it was made by him. My boss stood up and went to give the man a handshake and told him that their deal was done and just like that the meeting was over.
So , my boss said bye to the man and he left and we were both in the room. I was still standing up , mind you my feet were killing me. I have been standing for two whole hours and someone didn't seem to notice. Before I knew it he was already asleep on his chair. And I wasn't supposed to wake him, or move or else I would say bye to my job.
I was hungry for goodness sake and there he was, snoring like he hasn't slept in two years. To my luck, his phone rang and he woke up but decided to ignore it after checking who it was. And that's when he noticed me standing . The first thing he was was, ' Oh, you're still here, I thought you would have left. Are you not tired?'
And that's when I told him that I wouldn't want to disobey what my boss says. And he laughed at me. First time seeing him laugh though. But it was hot. Okay back to being professional, I then told him that my feet were very tired and I just wanted to rest for a bit and he told me to wait for his word.
So , I waited for another thirthy minutes as then he told me to carry his bag along with papers and take them to his office, so I did, and my break time had also passed meanwhile he said I should not eat in his office.
So I just got in the office, took a sit and continued to sort out his papers and he finally came and told me that he was done for the day meaning that I had to leave. So, I packed my things and I said bye to him, in a respectful way and then I left.
I went out to check for a taxi only to realise that I had no money because I forgot to ask my boss for the money for that coffee. So, there was only one thing I could do, and that was to walk. I had no other choice. I had only one friend and she had no car for goodness sake, so I just had to walk and see how many years it would take me to reach my place.
As I was walking, a black Mercedes pulled over bear me and as I turned to look at the person, it was my boss. He asked me why I was walking and I told him that I refused to ask him for the money I used to buy him a coffee. He then asked me if I would like him to accompany me and trust me, my heart was jumping like a kangaroo BUT I knew my limits.
He was just testing me so I wouldn't fall for it, I told him that I would rather use a taxi than to waste his time so he handed me the money and left. And finally I saw a taxi and I stopped it and hopped in. And in half an hour I arrived at my place.
I just couldn't wait to rush to my room , go to my kitchen and eat the entire place, if you get me. After getting out of the taxi I ran to my room and there I ran to the kitchen and made instant noodles, they were the only faster thing to make so don't judge it.
After eating I went to take a bath and as I was done it was time for entertainment, I watched television till I fell asleep. Who cares, it was already late so, no one was to tell me what to do, I had my own place now.
Just a few seconds after sleeping, my alarm went off, this can't be happening. I just slept for a second and now I had to wake up. I rushed out of bed because I didn't want to be late, I went to freshen up and had breakfast this time , took a lunch box because I couldn't afford to not eat for an entire day.
And as I was ready I got in an Uber and off to work I went. I arrived just a few minutes late because of traffic so I didn't worry that much. As I arrived I went straight to the office, I knocked on the door , ten times this time and finally someone decided to invite me to get in, so I walked in.
But it seemed like someone was not in a good mood today .
At that morning
Given-Good morning sir,
Sam- You're begging to get too comfortable I see!
Given-I don't understand, have I done anything wrong sir?
Sam- Is this the time you are supposed to come to work, ! You are late and you have the nerve to talk to me.
Given-My apologies sir, but there was traffic, I'll try .........
Sam- sit before I fire you, you have plenty of work to be done before noon
Said my boss as he shuttered me. I wasn't ready to be scolded like that and he did. I sat down but I couldn't control my emotions, I was hurt for goodness sake, so before I knew it, I was crying.
