A loud thunder was heard throughout the city... But Hikaru was busy eating a bowl of ramen in his apartment whilst working on that same assignment Professor Hasuke gave him.
Seconds turn into minutes, minutes into hours, the sun has already set and Hikaru is still writing pages upon pages of essays on his Literature Assignment...
The sounds of the pen writing, making contact with the pages was all the ambience present in Hikaru's room. Hikaru was focused on his task till the bone, not giving up nor showing any signs of stopping in until...
"knock knock"
Hikaru suddenly gets out of the zone and looks at his door... The sound was ominous and it was 9 pm... Therefore, it certainly was creepily awkward.
Hikaru gets off his chair and top toes his way towards the door, his anticipation and adrenaline at all time high... Hikaru grabs the doorknob and then...
Nothing. There was no one in sight, just the whitewashed walls right infront of Hikaru, but suddenly something catches his eye.
An envelope was placed gently on the floor, Hikaru shrugged and picked it up and a unique feminine smell filled his nose... A reminder of the person who wrote it.
When Hikaru flipped the envelope, there was a beautiful red inked, handwritten text saying: 'Promotional Interview'.
Hikaru's eye's dilate and he rushes back in his apartment, slamming the door and starts dancing all around the small apartment room.
"OH YEAH BABY!! I FINALLY GOT ACCEPTED LETS GO!!!", Hikaru exclaims as he's jumping up and down on the wooden floor.
"Oh wait, I should probably read the letter...", Hikaru says as he stops jumping and sits down on his desk, unraveling the letter.
The moment Hikaru pulled the sheet of paper out of the letter, there was a vivid feminine smell, a perfume of sort. Hikaru slowly turns the page around and starts reading the red inked letter in his mind.
"Dear Hikaru,
It's hoped that you're having a great day. I am writing to you to inform that you've been selected for the 'Junior Agent Promotion Interview' due to your outstanding performance as a recruit PPA Agent. Your efforts have helped save numerous lives and your powers are truly remarkable. Please come tomorrow at 9 AM sharply to the PPA Headquarters here in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Deputy Director PPA"
...
Hikaru remained silent and he just gave a tiny wholesome smile at the news .
"Yesss!", Hikaru says leaning back into his chair and clenching his fist in air.
*The Next Day*
Hikaru woke up early that morning. He consumed some coffee and a toast and wore a black suit and a black tie to look presentable. Hikaru took the local metro system and awaited to be greeted by the sights of buildings in Shinjuku.
Hikaru was a bit anxious as he held on to the pole to keep himself from not falling off. He had let an elderly sit in place of his seat. Hikaru was feeling excited yet nervous of the fact he is meeting one of the most influential person in person, his legs shaking in nervousness.
Suddenly the train bell chimed and the gates of the metro train opened up, giving everyone a breath of fresh air. The air was morning cold. It wasn't too bustling in Shinjuku, but it was indeed going to get warmer in terms of the population coming out.
Hikaru stepped out of the train and the cold breeze flew over him, signifying a new start, a new chapter within Hikaru's life, as Hikaru looked up in the twilight morning sky and the gray buildings all around. It was truly an aesthetic moment.
The PPA Headquarters were somewhere near the Shinjuku Crossing, a famous attraction and a business centre within Tokyo. The notable point about the PPA building was it's name written in English, not Japanese. It was probably due to it being an international organisation and English is the international medium of communication.
Hikaru arrived at the front doors of the relatively tall skyscraper, probably around 130 or 150 meters in height.
Hikaru was confronted by two guards, dressed in all black with broad shoulders and they asked Hikaru for the letter and Hikaru pulled it out of his internal coat pocket.
"Here... I'm Hikaru Shimo... I'm supposed to meet Miss Yoru...", Hikaru says in a bit frightened tone as he hands out the letter.
"You've been awaited, Mr Shimo.", one of the guards responds as he opens the door pushing his arm back, but not moving his body from the place.
The door opened and Hikaru walked in taking a long breath as this is it. This is where his dreams are established or crushed.
Hikaru starts walking towards the receptionist who immediately recognises the interviewee and points to him towards a wooden varnished door with a black text in English written next to it: "Deputy Director Yoru".
Hikaru thanks the receptionist and he is about to reach for the door handle but suddenly he notices something... someone was sitting outside the office: a young man, sleeping, laying on the seats.
The man had thick black curly hair, with green stripes on his bangs. He also was seemingly enjoying this sleep as he was seen smiling.
Hikaru ignores the man and reaches for the doorknob and knocks from his other hand.
...
Hikaru waited patiently for a response, but it seemed there was no response. Hikaru was about to knock again but suddenly a feminine voice came from behind the door.
"Come in.", Yoru replied.
Hikaru turned the doorknob and was greeted to a very posh and sleek office. There was a heater inside to warm the room, some expensive branded coats hanged on the hanging stands, and a window behind the chair, overlooking Shinjuku.
"I've been expecting you~", Yoru said as she turned her chair around, finally revealing her appearance. She was holding a cup of coffee in her both hands.
Yoru gently places the cup on the varnished wooden desk and tilts her head, pressing her knuckles against her right cheek. Hikaru was unironically mesmerised by her beauty and pure aura emitting from her.
"Please sit~ we have alot to discuss, my boy...", Yoru says as she keeps looking into Hikaru's eyes.
