Chapter 23 - The system wants Ken to take Siria

Ken took a deep breath, as he calmed his beating heart and tense body that was still screaming for him to run.

He had already run very far off, to the point that he could even see the gigantic battle that had gone down back there.

He was currently on a massive tree, resting his back on the tree trunk. The tree was shaped in a way that he had plenty of room to move and even sleep comfortably.

[Now you are even more lost. Can't go back since there is a grand fight there. You can't roam, you got no weapons. Can't log off, you aren't in the city~]

"...sigh," Ken sighed, as he sat down on the tree, making himself comfortable. He then reached out to his left elbow and yoinked the stone that had broken his arm out without hesitation. He had little pain on his face, but that was it.

Ken looked at the horizon, the sun was setting, "It's already 7 pm..."

[??? Why do you know that time?]

"...? I checked it."

Ken answered with confusion, not understanding what the system was getting at.

[No, I know you checked the time using the in-game interface, but that time shows the IRL time, not the VR world time... and it shows the time is 10 pm...]

"Oh, just remove 3 hours and you will get the time,"

Ken casually replied, making the system dumbfounded.

[Huh? This planet takes 1.1 times to rotate around its sun, so... never mind, is this a planned thing or something, this should be right?]

"Hahaha... it is..." Ken helplessly laughed, "The game is built in a way that about a month from now, there will be an event,"

[The game master event, for the blessed ones. Why do you look worried about that? It is not as if you or Aisa will have any repercussions from it.]

"I hope so,"

Ken muttered and then closed his eyes and laid down for some rest. It was closing in on the night, and he would rather not be on the ground when it was night. It was dangerous for someone who didn't have a weapon.

Time passed, and Ken snapped his eyes open. His eyes met a pair of deep blue eyes.

It was Siria,

"..."

Both Ken and Siria stared at each other. Ken had a blank and somewhat alert expression, while Siria was smiling. "Why are you here, Siria?" Ken bluntly asked.

"No reason~! I was clearing up this area, and I happened to sense a familiar presence. So, I came to check~!" She cheerfully said, and landed a bit, their faces inches away.

They were in a rather intimate position. Ken was lying down, using his hand as a headrest, and Siria was sitting next to him, leaning her whole body over him. If Siria were to lean in more or make any sudden movement, then she might fall on top of Ken.

"I didn't tell you this, but you've got the lady-killer looks. Maybe if I stare long enough, I might just fall in love~!" Siria teased and suddenly leaned in, placing her other hand down for support, making her and Ken's faces barely an inch apart.

[Pull her down,] the system whispered, making Ken want to find a way to mute her, but unfortunately, he couldn't.

[First, pull her to your chest and give her a nice, warm hug. Become rabbits in heat!] the system exclaimed, making Ken really want to find a way to ignore her now.

"Stop playing. You aren't the type to play easy... If you're looking for some info about me, then you'll have to try harder. And I am not interested for the time being, so you can quit playing around," Ken plainly said, making Siria get up and shrug.

"I was looking for info, and I am interested in you~! But come on, you could have at least played along~! I might have given you a kiss~!!!" Siria cheerfully remarked as she got on her feet.

"As if."

[As if,] both Ken and the system shut Siria down, completely seeing through her.

"Oh, come on! You're no fun!" Siria shouted in fake anger and hurt.

Ken got up and surveyed the area. It was very dark; he could barely even see three meters from where he was, and that was only because the moon was bright.

"Okay, jokes aside. You are very far from the city and in a danger zone as well. I don't know how you managed to survive here," Siria stated seriously. "There are even undead here, and they are the worst kind of monsters encountered."

"Too late for that; I was chased by an undead already," Ken casually remarked, making Siria look curious.

"I see, so that undead that was rolling with a branch stuck in its eye was related to you. I am impressed you managed to escape that undead. It's the worst kind of undead. So, want to tag along with me to the city? I can't have Aisa's brother be stranded in the middle of an undead-infested area, can I ~!?"

Siria cheerfully offered.

"That would really do me good," Ken agreed with no hesitation as they started to make their way down the tree.

Siria floated down while Ken just jumped down, dropping thirty meters without a scratch.

"Illumination," Siria cast a spell that made her staff glow, brightening the surroundings as if it were daytime.

Both started to leave the forest in the middle of the night. The forest was deathly quiet; there was no other sound but Ken and Siria walking.

"Why didn't you wear your new armor? It would have probably saved you from getting injured in any way, plus it has a healing effect. Is it something to do with pride~?"

Siria questioned, and Ken shook his head. "I don't have any stats in magic, so the healing won't work. Plus, I was only on a simple quest. There is no need for me to wear the armor and gain the attention of some thugs and thieves. Too much trouble." Ken explained as he pulled out the space ring.

"And since I have no mana, I can't open this space ring..." He accusingly said as he tossed the space ring to Siria, who looked away.

"I should have taken it into consideration," Siria apologetically muttered as she avoided eye contact.

"Can you just replace the payment with something else? It would be better than having a ton of gold in hand and, to top it off, a space ring. I doubt I wouldn't be hunted by all the illegal traders,"

Ken suggested as he pointed out the reason, and Siria, not being bothered, nodded. "Sure, what do you need? I pretty much have nothing to do, so I am free."

[Hmm, her life is enviable. No one bothers her, she is free from all laws since she is stronger, and she has absolutely nothing to do...]

The system remarked. '...You are missing something here. She gets paid to stay in the city. She is the strongest person in the whole of Hido City, and the only one that can defend the city without trouble,' Ken added for her.

"Hey... why do I feel excluded from a conversation...?" Siria questioned as she stopped and stared into Ken, who had kept a blank face the whole time. "There are only two of us here... So, why do I feel like I was excluded? Are you talking to somebody, telepathy?" Siria went right up to Ken's face and stared deeply into his eyes.

[Kiss her]

Ken ignored the system and stared back at Siria's eyes, which somewhat glowed. "You checked my status. So, you should know that I have no skill that can let me use any form of telepathy. Also, as a mage, you should be able to tell how much mana I have. Did it decrease?"

Ken reasoned, making Siria narrow her eyes and get a bit too close, their noses almost touching.

[COME ON, KISS HER!!! SHE IS INTERESTED IN YOU!!!]

'Well, I am not. So no. And shut up!'

Ken shot back, and the system started a small rant about why Ken needed to get Siria, which Ken blatantly ignored.

Siria backed off. "Fine, you are correct. I don't sense any magical or mystical waves. And I doubt anyone would be able to hide from me if they used magic anywhere around me!" Siria confidently declared and proudly puffed her chest out.

[Sigh... I really wanted you to take her thing instead. What a pity... You could have gotten laid and gotten a perfect woman for yourself... What a pity]

The system lamented, her tone playful and a little disappointed.

'...'

[What? To worried about the events? The person next to you is very likely the strongest ally you can get in this whole world, and she is interested in you!]

'Sigh... you should know this...'

Ken disappointedly said making the system a little confused.

[Oh come on! If you are worried about-... Is she the Yandere type?]

'Finally, you figured it out... you have watched the damn anime, so you should know very well what happened,'

Ken shot back confrontationally, and frustratedly.

[Yeah, She met Aisa and became close to her since Aisa and her dead sister resembled each other, and when she found out that Aisa was hurt, she nearly killed the whole MC's party.]

The system explained in realization,

[I haven't watched the full anime, will do that in a bit, but I know that script.]

She added making Ken want to facepalm.

If you have ideas about my story, feel free to mention them! This novel's plots are planned but not all minor plots. Any ideas are accepted, even if they are the stupidest things you can think of! (Well, not the overly sexual + fiercely Dark kinds) I will try to add them in!
