*A week after the party*
[scene : Luna, Colt, Lana and Zenon are sitting in the living room]
Colt : "I have something very important that I have to tell you."
Zenon : "This is sudden… is something wrong?"
Colt : "Not…exactly."
Lana : "Then what is it… I'm getting worried"
Colt[breathing in] : "Here goes, I'd like to take Luna somewhere to check on the baby. So we'll leave for a few hours."
Lana : "How? Not even healers can do that."
How am I supposed to explain that?
Colt : "I have my means, I thought you knew that."
Zenon : "We know. It's just strange."
Luna : "Is that why you've been disappearing lately?"
Colt [smiles a dim smile] : "You caught on huh?"
Lana [suddenly getting excited] : "We'll go with you."
Colt[replying the instant the words came out of her mouth ] : "Out of the question."
*Lana and Zenon were surprised by his refusal, Lana gets a bit sad and disappointed ,Luna seemed unfazed*
Zenon[his tone getting a bit sharp] : "Why exactly?"
Colt : "I have my reasons."
Zenon : "And those are?"
Colt : "I'd rather not say."
Zenon [getting angry] : "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? ALL WE WANT IS TO GO WITH OUR DAUGHTER… THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE'LL LET SLIDE."
Colt [maintaining his temper] : "It's better for everyone if you'd just drop it."
Zenon[shouting] : "I'M NOT DROPPING ANYTHING … WE LET YOU HAVE YOUR WAY ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT NOT OUR DAUGHTER… YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO-"
Luna [knowing exactly how Colt would react and how sensitive he is to being told what to do] : "FATHER!!"
*Everyone looks at Luna, things de-escalate right before Colt was about to blow*
Luna [takes Colt's hand, looks him in the eyes] : "Easy, it's alright, now is the reason you don't want them to come is.."
Colt : "Right, do you still insist?"
*Luna looks at the angry Zenon and the sad Lana, looks Colt in the eyes*
Luna : "Yes."
Colt [speaking a bit slow] : "It'll be like nothing you've seen before."
Luna : "Please."
Colt : "The price of knowledge is a steep one… you know that."
Luna : "Even so, they can handle it, please let them come."
Colt [looks at the three of them for a second, closes his eyes, takes a breath, opens them back] : "Fine."
I'm going to regret this later, aren't I?
[They head outside]
[near the fields]
Colt : "You wait here… I have one final preparation to make."
*Colt flies outside the wall, picks an area not too far away*
*Forges a riverbed that would eventually flow into the sea*
*Meanwhile*
Zenon[a bit mad] : "What is the meaning of this Luna? Is there something you know that we don't? Why was he so against us coming along?"
Lana : "Easy dear…"
Zenon : "No, I can't stand it. He never tells us anything, he says we're family but he doesn't act like it, he treats us like strangers or even enemies sometimes."
Lana : "You know that's not true."
Zenon : "What I know is he can't keep acting like this… sure, he fixed my arm and saved us but talking to you that way is unacceptable."
Luna : "I'm sorry if he came off that way, but, this is his way of protecting you, he does everything for a reason."
Zenon : "You of all people should know he's hiding things… doesn't it bother you?"
Luna : "Sometimes yes, but, I know he loves me, I know he does what he does for my sake, I know why he thinks he has to protect us like this… I'm his wife and that means always standing by him no matter what."
*They both stare at her for a few moments*
Lana [smiles] : "My child, you've grown."
Zenon [calms down]: "Indeed you have… but at least tell us why he's doing this?"
Luna : "Sorry father, but unless he tells you himself, I have no right to."
*Suddenly the ground starts shaking*
*Lana and Zenon support Luna so she wouldn't fall.*
*They see a portion of the ground rising above the walls.*
*Colt flies by and a waterwheel floats behind him.*
*Back to Colt's view.*
Now to install the waterwheel… there.
*The waterwheel is placed on the waterfall*
That's the best workaround I could find… a waterfall and a waterwheel.
*Colt conjures some earth walls on top of the waterfall, leaving a small channel for the water to exit through.*
And by placing an earth reservoir on top of the waterfall.
And controlling the flow rate.
I can have power for hours at a time.
That's how an engineer does things.
*Heads above the reservoir , creates a massive mass of water, dumps it*
Now to head back.
*Back with Luna and the others.*
Luna [still in awe of his power] : "Colt, why did you make a waterfall all of a sudden?"
Colt : "I needed it."
Luna : "And why didn't you make it before?"
Colt [whispering sweetly in her ear] : "And what's wrong with showing off to the one I love?"
*Luna blushes*
Colt [laughs] : "I love it when you blush like that… *speaks normally to Lana and Zenon* alright it's time for us to go… are you ready?"
*Lana and Zenon exchange looks*
Lana and Zenon : "We are"
*Colt raises his arm, a cylindrical portion of the earth rises*
Colt : "Get inside"
*They all ride it*
*inside while the elevator is descending.*
Lana [impressed] : "What is this??!!"
Colt : "It's called an elevator."
Luna : "How are you doing that?"
Colt : "Earth magic for movement and wind magic for air."
*The elevator descends to about 10 meters underground.*
*Colt opens the door, they start walking in a hall well-lit by light bulbs.*
Zenon : "What kind of magic is this? Fire? No it can't be."
Colt : "There's nothing magical about this."
Luna [knowing what that means] : "Then."
Colt : "It's called electricity, this place gets air and light using it."
Lana [in awe] : "Unbelievable, so you're not using magic?"
*They reach a room, but before entering, Colt stops and blocks the door with his body.*
Colt [his face becomes very serious and a bit grim] : "I know this isn't the time… and I may sound insensitive… however"
Zenon[getting worried] : "However?"
Colt [looks at Lana and Zenon] : "You wanted to come, you wanted to know, and like I said, knowledge comes with a price. If you tell anyone about any of this.. even Zeno or anyone else. I will destroy this entire world. I am serious. I won't let this world be ruined. I'd rather destroy it myself."
*Their faces turn pale due to this sudden declaration, they look at Luna, the look on her face says that he meant every word of his dreadful vow*
Zenon [in denial] : "You can't !! You wouldn't !!"
Colt : "Believe me, I can and I will. I only brought you here because you wouldn't leave us be and because Luna asked. This is the price of knowledge. This is what it means to know something you shouldn't. You have to take it to your graves. Your daughter believed in you, so much so that she asked me to let you come knowing full well what that means. Don't. Let. Her. Down."
*They are rendered speechless, horrified by his words, yet knowing full well they can't stop him.*
*suddenly , Luna stands by Colt's side, holds his head, rests it on her chest, gently strokes his hair*
Luna [whispering] : "Easy, there is no need to be so scared, they won't say a word."
Colt : "That's a risk I didn't want to take."
*Luna kisses Colt.*
Luna : "You took it for me, Thank you."
Colt : "*sighs* Let's go."
[they enter a room to find a bed. Near it, was a certain unfamiliar square box]
Colt [to Luna] : "Lie on the bed."
Lana : [finally recovering, seeing this bizarre sight , in awe] : "What is that?"
Colt : "It's called an ultrasound."
Zenon : "What does that mean?"
Colt[while lifting Luna's clothes and putting the probe on her belly] : "The only thing you need to know is that it lets me see the baby."
*The baby appears on the screen.*
Colt [looking at the screen] : "Interesting, it seems like we're in month 4 according to his development."
Luna : "His????"
Colt : "Yes, it's a boy."
Lana [in complete shock] : "Unbelievable !!! you can tell before it's born??!!"
Colt : "Yes, another benefit of this little thing."
Zenon : "Why?"
Colt : "Why what?"
Zenon [in shock] : "Why would you want this not to spread? This can change the world for the better… how can you be this selfish?"
Colt [looks at him in silence for a few seconds] : "Yes… I am selfish,*smiles* you know what? I'm the worst of them all… and I'm proud of it…be that as it may… even if I am nothing but a monster-"
Luna [in a firm angry tone] : "COLT!"
*Colt stops, looks at Luna*
Luna : "I won't just sit here and let you put yourself down like that, you're a kind, good person, deal with it."
Colt [in a cold emotionless tone] : "You're saying that to the guy who was going to destroy the world."
Luna : "No, I'm saying that to the one who saved my life, who granted us years of peace, who fought through the pain for me, who created this*points at the ultrasound* for my sake, I'm saying that to the one I love, I'm saying it to the one who just risked a lot just because I asked… this is who I'm talking to."
Colt [in awe] : "is that… how you see it?"
Luna : "It is … and no matter what you do or say it'll never change."
Colt [smiles a dim smile, that turns into a quiet laughter] : "I … see"
She saved me from the darkness yet again.
She's truly an angel.
Is what I'm feeling right now… hope? Self-acceptance?
Maybe, just maybe… one day… I can see myself the way she sees me.
