As the glamorous night continued with more items up for grabs, Alec bought Emma a magnificent European painting worth $5000.000 million, ' a wedding gift ' he called it. Emma didn't want to accept such an expensive gift worth millions. Not that she didn't like it, in fact, she loved it, every detail was described in perfection. It described a lovers infinity love for one another, the details were just amazing to look at.
Laura rolled her eyes, jealousy was written all over her face. Nick simply smirked, standing next to his fianceè. Emma gladly accepted the beautiful gift, appreciating Alec with a soft kiss on the lips. Alec grabbed Emma's waist pulling her closer, he leaned in to whisper.
" Your appreciation will be more appreciated in bed, wife." Emma stared at him with her helpless little face, Alec chuckled kissing her forehead.
Once the bidding was over, everyone continued to enjoy their night by socializing and engaging in conversation.
" Emma!" Can I have a word?." Laura approached Emma. Em nodded leaving the table with Laura, they went to a more quiet place to talk.
" Emma! Look, it's not a secret that I love Alec, and I'm willing to do anything to have him, where my baby has his Dad always."
" Alec, is my husband, even though I have a few months to live, I won't give up on Alec." Emma told her.
" Didn't he tell you, Emma?." Laura spoke, " Emma, I agreed to take out your tumor in return that Alec divorces you and marries me instead."
" What?!"
Emma didn't believe what Laura was telling her. " Alec wouldn't agree to that, he would never." Emma firmly said, Laura chuckled stroking her blonde curly hair.
" Think about it for a moment, Alec would do anything to save your life, your pathetic life is more important to him. He would rather leave you than watch you die, opportunity presented itself to me dear Emma, and I simply took it. This time luck is on my side." A devious smile made it's way to Laura's cunning face, crashing Emma with her words... leaving her broken and shattered.
The rest of the group sat around the table having drinks, Alec approached looking for Emma.
" Have you seen Emma, I can't seem to find her?."
Trixie was about to answer when Emma reappeared, she didn't seem too happy. Alec reached for Emma's hand but she yanked him off, he frowned staring at her confusingly. " What's wrong?." Alec asked in a flat tone. Emma glared at him, her eyes seemingly teary and angered, the rest were wondering the same thing.
" Is it true, you agreed to divorce me and marry Laura.... for her to save my life?."
" Where did you hear that from?." Alec maintained his calm composure.
" She did! Alec, I asked... one thing from you, love me and be with me till I'm no longer part of this world, is that so fucking much to ask for?! I don't want to be saved! I can't be saved, what's the point of me continuing to live when you'll be with someone else?! It's not fair for me." Tears rolled down Emma's eyes like a river, she couldn't take it anymore. Alec held her by the hand dragging her away with him, they went up to a room..away from the crowd and loud music. Emma continued to sob uncontrollably, Alec pulled her in his embrace, hugging her tightly.
" It's not easy for me to make this decision, wife, me just standing by and watching you die is a worse punishment you could give me. I would rather let you go knowing you're well out there, than losing you to death, please understand, and that you forgive me." He told her, Emma sobbed even more... she helplessly slide to the marble floor. Alec let himself slide down with her while still holding her in his arms. " I love you so much wife, I truly do." He kissed her head multiple times.
They stayed like that till she fell asleep drowning in tears, Alec had to carry her back to the car once the event was getting closer to an end, they all returned home.. retiring to their rooms for the night.
Back at the hotel, Nick kissed Tiana good night as he walked her to the car, stating he had business to attend to. Once her car disappeared into the next street, Laura came out of the building, he opened the car door for her to get in.
" You've suddenly become a gentleman? How thoughtful." Laura teased getting in.
" Let's just say I'm in a good mood tonight." Nick smirked closing the door, he went and sat in the driver's seat taking the wheel. " Were you able to convince Alec?." Nick added as he drove.
" Hmm, he didn't give me an answer right away, but I know he would say yes...that girl's life is more important to him, besides, I spoke to Emma about it earlier on, that would speed up the process of their separation." Laura smiled at Nick, they both shared a look followed by a cunning laughter.
The Next day,
Emma paid her grandparents a visit with Ava, they looked terribly worried after seeing their youngest granddaughter looking pale and in terrible condition, the cancer must be really taking a tore on her. They worried for her life.
" Come here dear, have a seat." Her grandma led her to the couch.
" I want to discuss something very important with you guys, I really hope you respect my decision and agree with me." Emma told her grandparents.
" What is it child, we're here for you whatever you may need?." Her grandpa said, Emma breathes in holding Ava's hand and said.
" A lot is going on right now, you're aware I'm sick, even if I do go through surgery I'm not guaranteed I will survive it. I have also come to the hardest decision of my life to divorce Alec__
" What?! What do you mean you're getting a divorce Emma?." Her grandmother spoke.
" Yes Grandma, those were the conditions the woman he's going to marry gave me, in order to get rid of the tumor inside my brain, she told Alec, to divorce me and get married to her instead." Emma burst Into tears.
" But that's nonsense, she can't do that."
" She's in love with him grandfather, she's been in love with Alec since they were young, and Alec already agreed to her conditions. He would rather let me go than let me die, it wasn't an easy decision for him."
" Oh, honey." Ms Anderson gave her a reassuring hug, stroking her back to comfort her, they understood what both the couple were going through, it isn't an easy decision to make. Life is being so cruel on the young couple. Emma later on told her grandparents for Ava to take on the family business if she doesn't survive the surgery, after all, it's her birth right as well. It will only be right for Ava to be recognized by everyone that she's an Anderson. They didn't argue about that, in fact they simply agreed right away.
As weeks went by, Emma's condition worsened, most of her hair fell off and she had to cut everything out, she would wear a head wrap and would spend most of her days indoors and never left the room. Her skin was pale - white as a ghost, Alec never left her side once, and would always compliment how beautiful she was, even though she knew that wasn't the case in her current condition. Tomorrow morning she'll undergo surgery, she could only hope for the best. Her belly was round as a ball, she told Alec if she doesn't survive the surgery, she wishes for her stomach to be cut open and try to save the baby, even though it will be premature.. better than it dying along with her.
" I'm really worried about Emma, I don't want to lose my only best friend." Trixie shed tears downstairs, Ava comforts her by stroking her back. For the past few months she's got to spend time with Emma, Ava grew so attached to her little sister, the thought of losing Emma was like a thousand daggers being stabbed to her chest one by one. She didn't want to lose Emma as well. It was already dark out, the maids prepared Emma's clothes and other necessary things to be taken to the hospital before hand where they had already prepared a room for her. A lot of people were already aware of her condition, they would send get well cards and flowers to her house, gifts, fruits and teddy bears. Motivational quotes and stuff like that. Lots of twit's on her media accounts to get well and survive the surgery, Betha had to shut down Emma's account temporarily.
Not to mention Laura was getting a lot of credit from her condition, fact that a lot of doctors couldn't perform the surgery and backed out, she's the bravest and super intelligent doctor to take up this high risk surgery.
The next morning,
Emma was taken straight to the hospital, there was a lot of media and reporters in front of the hospital. Security had to block and make way for her entry, cameras flashed as soon as Emma and Alec got out of the car. Before questions came flying their way, Alec avoided them entirely as he continued to walk side Emma. Once they were finally inside, the entry door was blocked and restricted.
" Good morning," Laura approached Emma and Alec with a smile, her eyes staring down at poor Emma who sat in a wheelchair.
" I don't see what's so good about this morning, or the days before for the past weeks." Emma nonchalantly said.
" Let's get you ready." Laura motioned for the nurse to take Emma into the operating room while she followed behind with Alec." Don't worry, she's in good hands." Laura added.
" I'm trusting her life in your hands, Laura, if she doesn't survive this, our deal won't go through." Alec simply said. Laura smirked.
" I will give it my all, I promise." She assured him. Alec went into the operating room to say goodbye to Emma, he holds her hand firmly as he stared into her grey eyes.
" I will be here when you wake up wife, I love you so much, always know this." He kissed her dry lips, kissing her forehead and hands. Emma gave a slight smile kissing his hand.
" I love you so much Alec." She dropped a tear, Alec wiped her tears with his thumb, giving her one last kiss before heading out. The doors to the operating room shut closed as the red light outside turned on... indicating there is an operation in progress inside. Zain and the rest were there to support Alec through out, Emma's grandparents and Hana arrived shortly after.
An hour had gone by and the operation was still in process, a few minutes went by when the red light went off. Alec stood from the couch in the lounge figuring the operation was now over, the doors opened, Laura and the other doctors and nurses coming out, they were all looking tense and worried at the same time. No one could tell whether the operation was a success or fail, Laura approached Alec. She took off her facemask and cloves staring into Alec's eyes, By her look. Alec's heart began beating rapidly inside his chest, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something bad happened to his wife.
" Laura?."
That was the first word that came out, as if begging her to tell him everything will be fine.
" Please say something doctor! Will my granddaughter be alright?." Ms Anderson spoke.
" The surgery was a success, I removed all the tumor in her brain, the rest is up to her to recover." Laura told them. Everyone was happy, Alec shut his eyes relived by the news." She will be transferred to the recovery room, you can visit her then. Excuse me." Laura added walking away, all she needed to do now was to seat back and let Alec come to her, her dream will finally come true at last.
Once Emma was transferred to the other room, Alec went in to see her...to say his last goodbyes, he sat next to her bedside... holding her hand like touching the most delicate flower ever, with a soft sigh he spoke.
" You're out of danger now, you're going to live my love, I know I promised to be by your side when you wake up. I'm gonna have to break that promise Emma, it will be much easier for both of us to part ways like this. I love you." Those were his last words to her, he kissed her forehead and walked out of the room, a tear rolled down from the corner of Emma's eyes. That was the last time they saw one another, that was the end of their love story. Ending in a painfully departure.
When Emma regained consciousness hours later, Alec was the first person she asked to see. Her heart sank when she heard he left for good with Laura.
" But he promised." Her voice shivered.
" He thought it was for the best." Ava told her, Emma broke into tears while Ava and Trixie comforted her. After spending a few days in the hospital for full recovery, Emma was finally discharged. She went straight to the Qinn resident, her home with Alec...in hope that she will find him there, even though he's with Laura now. To her disappointment, no one was there apart from the house maids, Zain and Lucas were also gone, even Aron was nowhere to be seen. They all vanished like they never existed, Emma ran upstairs to her room...all Alec's things were gone, only her things stayed back.
Emma crumbled to the cold floor bursting into tears, there was a tiny camera hidden in the room. Alec watched his little wife cry uncontrollably through his phone, no matter how badly he wanted to turn the car around and pull Emma in his embrace and never let her go again, he couldn't, a promise was a promise. Him and Laura already signed a marriage certificate in court, it's good he never got rid of the divorce papers him and Emma signed before hand, it was easier to hand them over to Laura.
Aron stared at Alec through the front view mirror, he could see the misery in his Boss' eyes. It wasn't an easy decision. Alec turned off his phone putting it away, he leaned his head back closing his eyes.
Meanwhile, Emma finished packing her entire things, she went back to the apartment were her and Trixie once lived together. Except this time, Ava moved in with them. Now that she has a second chance at life, she will live it differently... she will give birth to her child and be a loving mother, she will dedicate most of her life to her child.
One Sunday morning, the doorbell to her apartment rang. Emma went to open the door and was shocked to see Grange Qinn by her door step.
" Ah.... Mr, Qinn?!".
Emma blinked a few times. " Why the formality daughter? Call me Father." He charmingly smiled.
" Please, come in, I wasn't expecting to see you today, or ever actually." Emma led him to the living room, Grange sat on the couch gracefully." Would you like anything cold, it's quite hot outside?."
" A glass of red wine will be perfect." He spoke, Emma went to get a bottle...she poured some in a glass handing it to him." Are you all alone?." He added with a sip.
" Hmm, my sister and Trixie went to the supermarket just before you arrived."
" I see, and how are you and your baby."
" We're doing fine, Mr _ ' father." She corrected when she saw him raise his eyebrow.
" I know what Laura asked Alec to do was unfair to both of you, but I still consider you as my daughter in-law, you're very much important to me Emma. Lisa feels the same way even though she doesn't show it, she simply can't choose between you and Laura. It's a difficult position for her to." Grange told her.
" I know, you don't have to worry about me Father, I'll be alright." Emma held onto her dress tightly, she wanted to ask about Alec's whereabouts but held it in.
" I will take my leave now, I will make time through my busy schedule to check on you, take care." She escorted him out with a generous smile.
