" you need me to." He stared into her grey eyes, his thumb caressing her lower lip. Emma bit her lip shaking her head.
" It's better you leave, Alec, please." Alec could hear the pain in her tone of voice, she was hurting, and she's keeping it all inside to herself. No one better than him knew how that felt, how torturous it is to keep such pain to yourself and not being able to share it with anyone. He let his hand fall back to his sides, taking a step back to create some space between them. Emma didn't dare look him in thee eyes, she kept her gaze down_ cause staring at him would make things worse, she didn't want to burst Into tears.
" Call me if you need anything, have a good night." Alec simply said before leaving the room. When he reached the living room, he couldn't find Zain anywhere, neither was Ava. With a helpless sigh, Alec left the apartment without phoning Zain to ask about his whereabouts, ' if anything those two must be together, he would probably be disturbing them if he calls' Alec thought to himself.
A few minutes ago,
Ava's phone buzzed in her jean pocket, she brought it out and saw a message from Jerry, her former boss, the text came with a photo attachment. Ava opened it and saw a photo of Sonya, with a stained face and a frightened expression, Ava's face darkened.
The message read:
" Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th and main in 30 minutes, come alone, or she dies."
Ava's mind raced. She knew what Jerry was capable of, she knew it wouldn't be easy leaving her old life behind, quiting was same as dying, they don't let anyone wake away that easily, ' but how did he get hold of Sonya? She's supposed to be in Thailand, or did she once again break her rules and came to New York City?." Without hesitation, Ava sprang into action. She went to her room grabbing her gun, bike keys, and jacket, rushing out of the apartment. As Ava rushed out, Zain swiftly followed, keeping a safe distance. He knew something was wrong when he saw her face change after receiving a text.
Ava sprinted down the stairs, her heart pounding. She hopped onto her motorbike riding off. As she sped through the city. Ava's mind replayed memories of Sonya's laughter, tears, and bed time stories. She would do anything to save her.
Ava screeched to a halt near the warehouse, she leapt off, dashing towards the entrance. Zain watched from a distance, his dark eyes locked on Ava's determined figure. Ava disappeared into the warehouse.
" About time you got here, sweet Ava." Jerry smiled with a tilted head, Ava stopped in the middle of the warehouse, her eyes glued on Sonya.
" Let her go, your problem is with me, Jerry." Ava turned her gaze to Jerry, sharp and narrow. Her goal was to get Sonya out to safety before she could kill all these sons of bitches.
" You and I had a good thing going Ava, you were one of my favorites assassin's, my number one girl. When you decided to quit it hurt my poor feelings, you hurt me quite a lot."
" I told you, I don't want that kind of life anymore."
" That's your problem Ava, you think you're good person but you're actually not, you belong with us, we're your family. I am willing to give you a second chance to come back and redeem yourself, just apologize, and come back to me love." Jerry widened his arms as though expecting her to run into his arms like a loyal puppy. Ava's eyes shifted to Sonya, slightly nodding her head as a signal. Sonya nodded back understanding Ava's attempt, she began walking towards Jerry.
" Hold on," Jerry spoke making Ava to come to a halt." Slide your gun over to me, I don't fully trust you now." He told her.
" Free her first, I will only come to you, once you free her." Ava negotiated.
" Ava! No." Sonya yelled, Jerry nodded to one of his men to let Sonya go, Ava slide her gun to Jerry's feet.
" Go."!
Ava yelled at Sonya, she ran out as instructed.
" Good girl, now we're comparating... come here." Jerry grinned, Ava made her way to him and came to a stand still when she came face to face with Jerry.
" There's one more thing, Jerry." She spoke.
" Ohh, and what's that?." He raised a brow.
" I'm no one's fucking puppet." Ava kicked him on the balls as she reached for her other gun to shoot five of his men.
" Ahhh! Fuck!." Jerry cursed in agonizing pain. " Kill her damnit."! He ordered, Ava went and hid behind of one of the warehouse pillars as she loaded her gun.
Whilst outside. Zain got out of his car as soon as he heard gun shots, grabbing his gun and dashed towards the warehouse. He saw a young girl running towards him, a frown settled on his face when he saw her up close.
" Help her, please." Sonya begged with Zain.
" Wait in the car." Zain told her rushing inside the warehouse, he had so many questions going through his head, like, ' who this young girl was? What relationship Ava shared with her? And how she's connected to the Mafia boss?'
Meanwhile inside the warehouse, Ava was stuck in a crossfire. She was out numbered, more of Jerry's men kept on coming and she was running out of bullets.
" Fuck."!
She cursed loading her gun, one of the men sneaked behind her and was about to fire his gun, alarmed gunshot fired behind Ava startling her. She turned around to see one of Jerry's men drop dead on the ground, her gaze then shifted to Zain who stood just a few steps from her.
" You should really watch your back." He simply said, Ava was still confused to what he was doing there. that she didn't notice him move to where he was standing a few seconds ago, Zain grabbed her by the waist and pinned her against the pillar with his body acting as a shield. Ava widened her eyes followed by a frown.
" Don't you think this isn't the right time to act romantic, Zain?." She told him. Zain stared down at her furrowed face, simply raising a brow.
" May I remind you, you stepped away from the pillar that was shielding you, you could have gotten shot, twice now." He simply said.
" It's your fault, you're distracting me, how did you find me anyways? Did you follow me?." Ava creased her brows, both their guns firing at the same time. Ava shot the guy that was sneaking up on Zain while Zain shot the guy behind Ava. The way they were protecting one another looked like a romantic dangerous scene in an action movie.
" I noticed how your face changed and ran out of the apartment all tensed, so I followed you here." Ava raised a brow followed by a smirk.
" Were you worried about me?." A naughty grin made it's way up to her face.
" Curious." Zain corrected.
" Let's end this." Ava simply said loading her gun, they stepped away from the pillar firing their guys, everything felt as though in slow motion. Spilled blood, blurry images, and faint sounds.
Together, they were able to kill all Jerry's men. Jerry went and hid behind the pillar, he run out of bullets and had nowhere to run to, he was stuck.
Ava went and grabbed him by the collar, throwing him to the hard ground. He groaned painfully as he tried to get back up, Ava stepped him on the chest with her pointed heel as she pointed her gun to his head.
" W...wait a minute, we -- we can talk about this, Ava dear." Jerry stammered.
" I did warn you, mess with my family _ and I will kill you." Ava said.
" I promise to stay far away from your family, just spare me." He begged. Ava stared at him with boredom written all over her face.
" I will make sure, Charles gets your head." Those were Ava's last words to him.
" F.U.C.K. You." Jerry pressed his lips in a thin line, Ava smirked, her smile almost sinister and cold. She sent five bullets into Jerry's skull, Zain just watched in silence as she murdered the man in cold blood. She finally turned to him with a satisfied look.
" Sonya?."
" She's outside."
