She promised not to speak to Valerie again after she snapped at her. She would mind her own business. Her mind still went back to Mercy crying like a child while she was being dragged off the stage, she feared for herself too as she sat there awkwardly watching the other girls who had radiant smiles on their faces.
"Gentlemen, I am sorry for the inconveniences. But do not worry the night promises to be fun as usual and you get to go home with the lady of your choice. As is customary All you have to do now is go through the thing doorway right there to access the beauties waiting on you. Have a pleasurable evening n!" The nun announced as she took center stage after Mercy had been hurled out.
The men murmured happily as they immediately walked through the doorway that led upstairs to where the girls sat, awaiting them. Panick filled Meredith's throat as she wondered what was to happen next. The men looked to be in their late 30s, 40s, and some even way older than that. And she wandered what they really wanted with such young girls. She tried to steady her breathing as the wealthy looking men accessed the special room, taking their time to study each girl like they were some goods. She was furious and angry but most of all she was very scared. Her heart was pounding as the echoes of the footsteps of the men approached where they all sat. She was the only one who looked afraid, others had their flirty looks plastered on their faces. And she found them all appalling.
Even Valerie who was sitting beside her thrust her boobs forward and pouted her lips as a young man who looked way younger than the rest walked towards the two of them, his expensive fragrance hitting their nose. Yes, this was exactly the man she wanted, Valerie smiled. Maybe with him she could finally achieve all she desired. From the desperate look on her face, it was obvious Valerie was filled with hunger for the young man and Meredith knew she was hoping the man would come to her. Meredith prayed too that the man go to Valerie and not her. But her prayer didn't work, he halted right in front of her, captivated by her beauty which was quite different from the rest. He liked young and innocent girls, this one would be perfect for several nights of pleasure, Marc thought as he scrutinized the girl whose eyes were filled with fear. She was pretty and new! He wanted something untouched! She was perfect, his lips curled into a smile.
If eyes could kill then, Valerie would have obviously killed Meredith because the young man had chosen her over her. Why? Was she not pretty enough? She screamed in her. But the major problem was not being pretty enough, her main problem was the kind of punishment that awaited girls who were no longer attractive to the men. It could mean a very miserable life for them or their very end. And she didn't want that for herself!
She was filled with envy and anger as she stared at Meredith who refused to acknowledge the young man smiling at her.
"I want you and only you" the young man said, touching her fresh cheek.
"Get your hands off me you filthy pig. I am not for the likes of you" She barked at him.
"What do you mean by the likes of me?" His tone suddenly changed to a very angry one and Meredith wished she could disappear somehow from there.
"Do not mind the silly girl. You can have any girl you want and even more than one. She's just new here" Valerie said, glaring at Meredith who was still avoiding the man's stern stare.
"I don't want any other one but her, just her. You are coming with me" he dragged Meredith forcibly and she almost bit his thick skin then when the Nun walked in.
"What is the commotion Mr. Marc…" she smiled at the young man
"As you can see the stubborn little girl does not wish to go with me. Tell me why" he growled
"I am sorry Mr. Marc but she is not ready yet and shouldn't be here. M get up and get back to your room right now!"
"What do you mean she's not ready? I don't care. I have set my eyes on her and I want her for myself now and for as long as I want"
"I am sorry Mr. Marc but she is not for the likes of you. I am sorry but I have to spell it out but she's for men with certain level of taste who can afford it and you certainly do not make it to that list for now." She said more seriously.
"Are you insulting me, Margaret?"
"Of course not… You do have a nice day, Mr. Marc. M, back to your room now!"
Meredith tried leaving to try to get as far as possible from the man who watched her with stormy anger in his eyes. But as soon as she tried to stand and leave the gathering, the men held her back and spilled threatening words into her ear "Mark my words, I would have you come what may"
"Please let her go now!" The nun came promptly to her rescue and guided her gradually towards the doorway that led to the inner rooms.
As she left, Meredith could see Valerie beaming with a smile because the young man had his eyes on her now. It was as if she had won some prize and Meredith was so sorry for her.
"Who asked you wait at he special room? I never asked you to join the other girls. You know nothing about what these men want or what they can do to you" she sounded almost like she cared before she looked around like someone was watching her.
"In the Siren home, everything is done orderly and obedience is more important than anything else. You must listen and wait for my commandments before you make any move. Do you understand? You are not ready yet! And you will not be ready until we've done our tests on you to discover you are as pure as your uncle had promised. And when that happens you will become the most sought-after girl in here."
"I don't care you evil soul! I want to be out of here! I don't deserve to be locked up and used by strange men! I don't want to be here!" she screamed, heaving in anger. The nun raised her hand to hit her but it was as if something was stopping her from losing her temper. Without saying a word she pushed Meredith towards the door of their room and pushed her into the room where Niki still sat all one, chopping her hair off.
Meredith began to bang on the door because she knew her worst nightmare was about come to past. What did she ever do to deserve such a life? She cried, pounding on the door harder.
