Even though I have the memories of living here for the past year, seeing the Mage Academy in person was very different. 10 square miles of class rooms, training fields, and housing, the Mage Academy was one of the most influential establishments in the entire kingdom. The main entrance is surrounded by a massive stone wall, with only two gates at the north and south.
The interior of the wall is a large grass field, before reaching the main building. The main door remains open at all times, allowing the mages to leave at anytime. The inside is pretty much a maze, with long hallways and branching sections. The necklace all students are given act as guides to navigate around. There are only two more days of school before the two month break, where I plan on training.
Walking in through the main door, I start heading to the back of the building, where the housing is. On my way there, I run into one of the people I remember from the memories. Her name was Frost. Her parents named her this because she had 2 ice spells when she was born, but as her spells advanced they leaned more towards darkness magic.
She is a cute girl, a little short for her age, with light, almost pale skin. She has high social anxiety, so she spends most of her time in her room studying. She has dark blonde hair, and dark green eyes, with a small , rounded face. She's also a cat girl. Cute ears on the top of her head, a little darker than her hair color, and a lighter colored tail. Her body didn't quite fit her size though, with large breasts. The me from the memories had a small crush on her, and I don't blame him.
Seeing her walking around, I head over to her. "Hey Frost!" She jumps slightly from being called out, but soon recognizes my voice. "Rogue!" She runs over to me and hugs me, asking, "Where were you?! You're an hour late!" I stopped by the store earlier to get a better wand, so her reaction was reasonable. "Got cought up in something. Nothing much" She visibly relaxes hearing I wasn't hurt. "Congratulations on making it to second class."
She backs up a little, seemingly embarrassed by her reaction. "Hey, can you help me train my spells?" I ask her. Practicing spells improves effectiveness and can also increase the mana stat. I needed to improve greatly in order to kill the derabbit. "Sure!" She grabs my hand and starts pulling me to her room. I'm her only real friend, so when she leaves her room she's usually with me.
Arriving at her room, it looks like a tornado hit. The door leads to the living room, with a couch at the back wall. In front of the couch is a coffee table. To the left is a door that leads to her room, and to the right leads to the restroom. Books cover every surface, with some things broken and just sitting around. She mainly uses ice attack spells, because her darkness magic is summon based. The last time she tolded me her stats, it looked like this.
(STR 3 AGI 5 CON 5 MP 10 HP 15
Ice blast lv 4 icicle lv5 small dark summon lv 2 shadow cage lv3)
Her shadow summon can only summon low level creatures, but they usually cause a large mess. Shadow cage is the only reason the room is still liveable. Mages have low STR and CON, with higher AGI and MP. My higher stats puts me well above average, plus my boosts.
Kicking some books to the side, she looks at me and says, "Ready!" I cast as many of my spells as I can, each one taking about one mana each. With five mana and 3 boost spells, I leave out HP boost. The boosts increase the stats of the target equal to the level. AGI boosts lv 2 gives 2 temporary AGI. Running out of mana, I focus on generating more inside my body.
The mana here is quite different than the other world. In order to increase mana stats, you need to push your spells to the limit. Mana is made inside the body, instead of gathered through the air. In order to improve my mana stat, I will have to use the spells on further targets, moving targets, and use different spells on different people at the same time. Not easy.
After regaining my mana, I start to casts again, this time from the door with Frost by her bedroom. After casts two spells, Frost places a shadow cage around a book by my foot, which I use enchant on. In order for enchant to work, there has to be a base spell and an object, and both casters need to keep the spells active for long enough for the enchant to be successful. The cage starts sinking into the book, eventually disappearing, meaning it worked.
I cast the last spell on Frost, and pick up the book, causing the cage to reappeared around my hand. Frost laughs at my now stuck hand, and helps me dispell the cage. 'Cute' is the only thought that goes through my mind.
Other than just using magic, learning magic theory is important. Spells can change as they level up, meaning the changes can be guided. Most of the books on the ground are magic theory, but I mostly ignored it, letting my spells develop in whatever way. Frost starts picking up some of the books that are about boost magic.
"I don't need those" I tell her every time, but she always has me study. The only reason I study at all is to hang out with her. Frost rolls her eyes, saying, "If you don't guide your spells, it could end up making them worse". I walk over to her room and sit on her bed, the only place not covered in books.
She sits down beside me and starts reading a book, almost putting me to sleep. I don't get how she likes these things. I decide to make it less boring, with a big yawn. I stretch my hands up, putting my arms round her and laying on her shoulder, looking at the book. She stutters, not expecting what just happened. 'The past me never got to ask her out, so I'll do it for him'
