"Listening to you, the years you have spent away have been very interesting."
Evelyn was smiling, holding a glass in her gloved hand which she was resting on the edge of the terrace.
She was facing the back of the villa, her other hand playing with the lady's coat Daemon had just put on her shoulders.
Daemon remained behind her, and he replied to her words in a soft, smiling tone:
"That is what you say, but I think you are wondering how many horrifying details I have glossed over."
Evelyn smiled as if she had not heard him, and took her eyes away from the hand that had come to rest on her arms.
"Even Echo seemed less serious than he appears, from what you described."
Seeing how she kept pretending, Daemon decided to humor her:
"It was mostly Wave pushing him on the wrong path, but I think he was the one who had actually been manipulating Wave to absolve himself of most of the responsibilities."
