Chapter 47 - Ascender madness

Ivistar descended with grace like an angel on the devil, his sword tearing way through like a cleaver prepared to take what god sowed. Sharp light surrounded his blade and his silver full body armor pushing momentum he moved even further from human comprehension.

When the sword stuck the body and sound of metal hitting metal resonated in the surroundings, but the hand grasping the edge of the sword was unmoved and the attack was followed by Icarus first.

Ivistar dodged to the side his sharp armor bending under the pressure of a fist, but all Ivistar even showed was a smile, and then swiped the sword out of Icarus's hand with the help of sharp light and he swung it again while Cecilie joined him.

Surrounded by white fog that hid most of her figure she circled Icarus who looked at both of them with wriggling flesh on his face.

It was as if something wanted to get from the other side out, but his faceless face refused to let it go.

In the end, resentment seeped out in the form of crimson sweat that poured out of his pores.

Blood and blood vessels around began to move and infect even more beings and connect to his feet, but Icarus alone moved too, his step and four hands turning into blurry images and flashes of crimson light.

Maybe not expecting such a fiercest attack Ivistar was pushed back, his hand started to tremble and veins on his body began to turn silver and the armor once calmly resting on him began to shift and cower his neck and hands.

Blood escaped from his mouth that immediately began to turn into blood vessels but then something invisible crushed the infecting blood and returned it to its original shape.

"Transcendent viscount attacking transcendent lords don't you have shame Icarus?"

Ivistar mocked and contested Icarus with pure skill and speed. He turned into a blur on his own a silver flash of light, his sword holding secrets and the brutality of the experienced killer and while he took care of the monster's gaze Cecilia formed a spear from the fog and threw it on Icarus.

Icarus didn't turn around, but one of his four hands twisted and tried to grasp the spear but then it turned back to fog that entered his body.

Growl escaped from Icarus and using the small gap in Icarus's focus Ivistar's sword turned another flash of light that made a small wound on Icarus's leg.

Crimson light escaped out but then it closed as fast as it was made and before another strike could fall one of Icarus's hands morphed into the blade that clashed with the Ivistar sword. Ivistar just grinned upon seeing it and attacked again this time faster than before.

Their clash made surrounding houses tremble and then crush down under the power of gravity.

People who run away before were now coming back and trying to help the Ivistar and Cecilie who joined the fight with her spear of pure white and body cowered and augmented in white fog.

She circled the two combatants with her nimble body and when the time came, she would strike, helping the Ivistar from time to time, slowing crimson flash enough for Ivistar to deflect and guard against its strikes.

The fight was nevertheless brutal and one-sided.

Not even the lord of exorcists with the help of Ivistar could stop the crimson monster from tearing the unexperienced humans who came closer apart and Hildebrant knowing its strength better than others, began to slowly stand up while burning the remaining blood vessels drilling into his flesh and skin.

Should he help or go deeper into the sanctuary?

Hildebrant chuckled knowing better than anyone that even if he wanted nothing would change. He didn't believe he had the power to help and even if he had he would not be able to kill or even defeat Icarus.

That creature was a monster from pure hell, its body harder than steel and its realm two ranks higher than his own.

But going deeper was also not opinion. There was too much of the unknown for him to discover and hide properly from Icarus's influence that was deep-seated in the sanctuary and marble walls spreading like a virus.

His only choice was the white shore.
