Eloisee tossed on the bed, beads of sweat rolling down her face. She writhed under the covers, and her eyes snapped open as she sat up straight breathing heavily. The dream she had experienced was frightening. She found herself unable to close her eyes.
Eloisee leaned against the wall behind her and calmed her nerves down, she looked the time on the clock and her eyes shifted to her side, Riviera's place was untouched. "He didn't get back home yesterday." She mumbled, her hand caressed the spot and she got out of bed.
Eloisee maneuvered out of the room and into the dark hallway, despite the absence of light she could seen well in the dark. She passed Riviera's office and heard a bang, in a moment she was back at the office door and she gently opened it peaking inside. "Rivi?"
Rivi? Eloisee blushed as she caught herself. She was on pet name basis with the alpha. He did call her Elo so that was fair for her to use the nickname he had right?
She stepped into the office and closed the door behind her. Her eyes looked around the lit room, the books were organized neatly, and on the table in the center of the room sat an exhausted Riviera.
Riviera looked up and saw Eloisee standing at the door. He tried to fix his disheveled self to no success. "Hey Elo, I hope I didn't wake you up."
"No, I was going to get some water actually." Eloisee looked at Riviera and she could see the fatigue within his eyes. Concern laced over her eyes as she walked over to him and sat down on the chair opposite to the of Riviera. "Are you okay?"
Riviera nodded, he was okay just exhausted. The case with Zoe had taken a toll on him just like that day but hearing her voice gave him a bit of strength to remain awake, they had to strengthen security of the pack grounds, to avoid this happening. He then realized he had yet to give Eloisee an answer. "I'm okay, just tired from talking to the elders about Zoe and the whole humans thing."
Eloisee nodded, she could tell from his shoulders and eyes he was tired, but from what he said, it was more of mental fatigue than physical one. An idea suddenly hit her and she got up, she sprung to action and took Riviera by the hand, shocking the alpha. The move on her part was not something he was used to, a couple of weeks ago she was still afraid of being touched much less touching him, now she was taking charge.
Eloisee pulled the large man to his feet, and guided him out of the office, down the stairs to the living room and told him to sit on the couch while she disappeared behind the kitchen door.
Riviera sat there on the couch, his brain trying to process what had happened, he chuckled to himself, she was mysterious in her actions as always .
"What's funny?"
Riviera raised his eyes as Eloisee asked the question, he looked at the woman holding a tray with hot coffee and shook his head. " I'm just thinking about you."
His honesty made Eloisee blush. She pouted as she placed the tray down on walked to the empty seat beside Riviera and plopped herself down, she inched closer to the man taking in his scent which for a better word made her excited, extremely excited. Even her wolf was wiggling her tail in the back of her mind.
Riviera wrapped his hand around her and pulled her closer to him, Eloisee did not fight his gesture nor did she feel the need to step away from him. She leaned in his chest and listened to his heart beat. Her eyes lowered and she yawned, the melody of his heart played a lullaby to her ears and before she knew it, her eyes closed and her breathing evened out.
Riviera ran a hand through her hair. His eyes softened as he looked at her. Maybe the time was right for him to mark her, make her his mate. Being around her, gave him peace and he wanted that to be forever, but meeting her the other day had sent his emotional state into discord. Despite having moved on, he still had something for her.
He closed his eyes and leaned into the couch, he was a married man, the only person who deserved his attention was Eloisee, she was his present and he knew that. Before long, his eyes fully shut and the two slept on the couch.
Morning
Elizabeth yawned as she made her way to the living room, the house was quiet just as she preferred, she stopped as she stepped into the living room, her brow raised and lips tucked into a smile.
Their relationship was getting closer, which was good. Riviera needed to get over her and Eloise was the best thing to happen to Riviera since that day. He has been smiling more, and he had shortened his time at work and was around the house more. Four years ago, he would be nose deep in his job trying to hide the pain his ex caused now he seemed to be moving on.
Elizabeth maneuvered to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast, the house was about to get lively in a few hours.
Eloisee groaned as her pillow shifted underneath her. She cracked open her eyes and looked around, her pillow was warm and solid. She then remembered the events of earlier and she sprung up flustered. She glanced at Riviera and saw his eyes on her.
"Good morning, slept well?" She heard Riviera say and she nodded.
The door swung open as Ruid and Mia walked into the house offering their good mornings to the couple intertwined on the couch. Elizabeth came from the kitchen with a tray of dishes and set them on the table.
Riviera looked at his right-hand man. "Anything found yesterday?"
Ruid shook his head as he bit on the toast. " Aside from footprints in the mud, there was nothing on the scene or around it."
"That side of the pack ground is to be sealed, no one should use it. The supplies can reroute and take another route, we aren't sure if the hunters are still around."
"Agreed."
The door opened and standing at the door was a blonde-haired woman with striking blue eyes, she wore a loose fitting blouse that hugged her breasts and curves. She wore high heels and her eyes roamed around the people at the table. " Can I come in?"
