Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Knowing More About Him

The smiles in the house disappeared in an instant, Riviera spun on his feet, let go of Eloisee and pounced onto the guard, his eyes bleeding a mesmerizing shade of sanguine red. "Where is he?" He questioned the guard who was struck by fear from seeing the look on his Alpha's face.

Despite feeling like he was staring into the eyes of a beast, the guard barely managed to swallow his saliva before he responded. "He was taken to the clinic by one of the guards… I came to inform you Alpha."

Riviera let the guard go and turned to his right-hand man. Ruid understood his alpha and he followed after Riviera who had left after the signal.

Eloisee approached the downed guard and smiled at him, she extended her hand to help the guard up and he took it, a blush spreading across the guard's face. The woman before him had an angelic look to her, an aura of a goddess in human flesh and seeing her smiling at him like that, made his stomach tingle.

"Thank you… miss.."

"Eloisee, I'm Riviera's wife." Eloisee said as she stepped back, she looked at her hand and a look of surprise fell into her eyes. She did not feel how she usually felt, she wasn't repulsed by someone touching her which was odd.

The guard's hopeful look faltered for a moment, the angel was in the hands of the Alpha, he almost felt jealous of the Alpha. He composed himself and forced a smile to his face. "Nice to meet you Luna, I must be going now."

Elizabeth observed the interaction between the pack's current Luna and her subject. She could see the hopeful look the cub had for Eloisee and she knew another one problem was imminent. Raising Riviera, she knew better than anyone how he behaved whenever someone took interest in things he held to his heart.

She walked up to Eloisee and leaned against the young woman. "You know, he seemed a tad bit interested in you."

Eloisee jumped a bit, her heart raced for a brief period before settling once she realized it was only Elizabeth. She looked at the older woman with a raised eyebrow, the guard that just left was interested in her? That didn't make sense. "I don't know, why would he be interested in someone who is already married? Plus there's nothing about me of interesting value."

Elizabeth laughed. "Young cub, I've been alive way longer and I can tell these things. First, when you helped him get up, his heart beat quickened, his eyes shone but when you told him that you were Riviera's wife, the glow in his eyes disappeared. I can tell you this, he is interested in you and that's not a good thing."

Eloisee remained fixed where she was, what Elizabeth had said spooked her a bit, another wolf interested in her? She was plain, riddled with trauma and the only reason she and Riviera were a couple was because of their packs needing aid from each other.

Land and resources for her hand in marriage to the alpha.

Eloisee sat down on the couch, her eyes staring at the entrance to the living room. Her thoughts being a chaotic mess with the eye of all that chaos being Riviera, her husband in name.

He made her feel welcomed something that was out of the norm for contracted marriages, went out of his way to know her and despite all that Eloisee knew nothing about him, she knew he was the alpha, and that was about it.

Mia came from the kitchen having excused herself to go make them an evening snack when Ruid and Riviera left. She looked at Elizabeth who was reading a book, then at the spaced out Eloisee, her eyes went back to Elizabeth while she placed the tray on the table.

"What's up with her?" She asked taking a sit near Eloisee and she shook her.

Elizabeth glanced at Mia and smiled. "Let's just say, she discovered something interesting about how others perceive her and she's processing it."

Mia shot a glare at Elizabeth. "You better have not told her about the steamy stories you had with your husband. She's too innocent for that."

"I'd never, she's too precious for those stories." Elizabeth replied and closed her book placing it on the table. She took her tea and took a sip from it. "The guard that was here showed interest in her."

Mia stopped shaking Eloisee after she had successfully got her out of her trance. "That's not good, you know how he gets."

Eloisee's eyes darted around between the two women with her. They were speaking in a language she could hear but not understand. Who were they talking about? Why was his reaction so important, she felt left out and dumb and her curiosity got the better of her. "Who are you guys talking about?"

Elizabeth looked at Mia and Mia looked at her, unifying their thoughts. " Your husband." They said in unity, not missing a beat in each other's tone.

Eloisee grabbed a biscuit and bit it. " How does he get? I want to know more about him."

"It's a long tale." Elizabeth said as she remembered the past. "Your husband, well he is a good man with an honest heart, hot-headed and adamant for sure but he has the wellbeing of the people he care about at heart. But with all his care, comes something quite unlike anything I have seen, Riviera cares so much, he could go to hell and back for the person he holds dear and nothing will stop him, I doubt death could stop him too."

Eloisee made an 'o' shape with her mouth, the more she learns about his character, the more she sees the contrast between their first meeting. He had looked down on her when they met, but being around him that long had made her learn somethings, he masked his nature under a layer of aloofness and condescending attitude but once that layer peels off he was a softie at best.

A yawn escaped her lips. "I'll be heading off to bed, goodnight." She got up and bid the two women goodnight and retreated to her room.

Eloisee fell on the bed, the events of the day flooding into her mind. Her lips tingled and she touched them, shuddering from the feeling she got from the touch. Earlier when they had met with Riviera's she felt an undeniable spark of excitement in her heart.

"I'm going crazy."

True

Eloisee rolled her eyes, her wolf had decided to talk to her when she had been quiet ever since she got here. " Was this what you were talking about? That it was going to get better?"

I was not sure, but you deserve to be happy pup

"I guess." Eloisee mumbled as her eyes closed and she drifted to sleep
