The narrow waterways in Alto Mare are intricately crisscrossed, and the race course is set here exactly for this reason, it is all because of the countless bends it holds. Once you enter the wrong waterway, it will of course mean disqualification from the race as a whole.
In this competition, many contestants have been eliminated due to Pokémon's steering errors. Now that Ash, Misty and Ross have an absolute advantage over all of the other racists, it is obvious that the Champion will be won between on of these three.
However, what no one noticed was that something seemed to be following the three from the air.
Suddenly, the reins of Ash and his Lapras seemed to be tightened by something.
All of a sudden, there was an unknown Pokémon pulling the reins together, and the speed became much more faster. Lapras also felt much more relaxed and quickly accelerated together with this new unknown creature. Ash was immediately able to surpass both Misty and Ross by a larger margin!
"Racer Ash suddenly accelerated like crazy once again like the beginning of the race and took the lead at a fierce speed just like last time!" The live commentator immediately reported Ash's lead to all the viewers!
A beautiful faint blue light flashed on Ash's body for a moment, and he could immediately see and understood that this invisible Pokémon was helping him out!
Streamlined body, big eyes, wings like jet wings, feet like fins. The lower part of its body is red.
Of course this is non other than one of the Eon Pokémon, Latias!
Not only was Latias there, but also Latios with a blue body appears next to Latias and flew with her.
However, just because of its appearance, Latias pulled Ash's reins off the track and turned into the waterway aside.
Lapras couldn't figure out the track either. He only felt the traction of the reins on his body and turned in. Until they met the stairs, Lapras and Latios stopped suddenly, but Ash rushed towards the stairs due to inertia. He was able to jump quickly , and then stood firm on the shore.
"Oh nooo, it seems that Racist Ash got entered the wrong race line, what will he do now? Now find it on the next epi—" He was about to something before he was stopped by his partner.
"Shut up Stephen A, this is not the time for one of your shenanigans!" His partner said outside over the speakers.
Hearing this voice, Lapras also knew that he seemed to have made a wrong move, and he lowered his head in sadness and shame.
Ash came down and patted his head gently, "It's all right buddy, you performed very well and your speed is getting faster and faster. We will have time in the future to get better."
Hearing Ash praising himself in such a comforting manner, Lapras suddenly became happy and began to say something with joy.
Hearing his voice, Latios and Latias who were in their invisible form also became happy and disappeared into the background.
Ash looked up at the direction they were leaving and said with a smile, "What a troublesome siblings!"
He knew Latias had no ill intentions towards him or anyone else in general, she was just being unhelpful to him this time.
Ash's late elimination also made the championship battle come between Misty and Ross. In the end, Misty Corsola's corner was slightly ahead, allowing Misty to win by what Ash would call a millisecond.
"Congratulations on your win this time. I will definitely win the next one though. How about this, I will let you all ride my boat since you managed to beat me!" Ross invited Ash and his party to his boat for a ride.
They happily agreed with his words.
After all, isn't their secondary main purpose in coming to this Water City to experience the unique boat rides here?
"It's great to be able to ride on the coveted boat from here once on our journey!" The group sat in this fairy average boat, and now their mood was indeed completely different.
"Thank you so much for this, Ross!"
"You're welcome, it's an honor for me to let the Champion of the Pokémon Water Chariot Race ride on board with me!" Ross said with a smile while steering the boat.
He was convinced that he lost. Not only was Misty's Corsola very powerful and fast, but Ash's skills were also unfathomable. If he had not made any mistakes and ran into the wrong channel and was eliminated from the race that late, it would have been Ash who would have won the race instead of Misty.
Ash no longer cared about this championship, after all this is just something for fun he did without much thought put into it. For now, all he could think about was that Latios and Latias.
He really didn't expect to meet the Guardians of Alto Mare so soon. So it seemed to him that the legend spread around here is really true!
"Hey, how about the Alto Mare Medal you won, do you like it?" Ross was the last champion, and the medal of this championship is really exquisite and beautiful.
It is a plate-sized transparent ribbon with the silhouettes of Latios and Latias engraved on top of it. In the center of the two Pokémon is the image of an orb, which is simply an item that the two Dragon and Psychic-types can use to increase their power in the games.
That orb in the middle, the treasure of Alto Mara, the Soul Dew!
"Big Brother, look over there!" Molly's eyes were one of the brightest out of all of them.
Not only on this medal, but also in front of the museum in front of everyone, there are two stone pillars with sculptures of these two Eon Pokémon on them!
"That's Latios and Latias. According to the legend, they saved this city from drowning. People in the city firmly believe that even now, they are still guarding Alto Mare from the waves!"
After Ross finished speaking, Molly suddenly raised his hand, "I know, I know, I can say it!"
Ash smiled at her and put down her hand, "Okay, then just say it!"
As the daughter of a very knowledgeable man, Molly, grew up listening to her fathers stories about the world.
Not only the legend about Entei, but of course he also told Molly the legend of the Eon Pokémon's, and this story is obviously more suitable as a bedtime story for children than the one about Entei.
"A long time ago, there lived an old man and an old woman on an island called Alto Mare."
"One day, they rescued a pair of injured little siblings at the beach. Under the careful care of the two old couple, the injuries suffered by the two Pokémon's gradually recovered. But suddenly one day, an evil monsters came to invade their island." She said the last part in a scary voice, well as scary as she could, which was not that scary to be honest but the group still went with the flow.
"However, just when the island was about to be swallowed up by the monsters, in front of the old man and the old woman, the appearance of the little brother and sister changed everything. It turned out that they were the Eon Pokémon's, Latios and Latias."
"These two Pokémon flew into the air to call their companions, and they brought the power to drive away dark evil force away. It was a gem called the Soul Dew."
"So peace was at last restored to the island. From then on, Latios and Latias often visited the island where Soul Dew was located, and no evil monsters ever attacked the island again."
After saying that, Molly looked at Ash proudly, "Big Brother, I'm done! You may now clap for me!"
They all nodded in appreciation and clapped their hands, even Ross, "What she said is really good!"
Ross also didn't expect that this young girl who was following Ash actually knew so much about this place's history, "That's great, Molly, you really know so much!"
While talking, Ross had already came to the end with Ash's group to the shore, and pointed out, "The crepes in that shop are the best in Alto Mare, trust me. You must go and try them out!"
The purpose of Ash and his group coming here is to sightsee and relax all they want and then get ready for teh tournament. They all celebrated Ash on him getting all of the necessary eight Badges to qualify to participate in the Silver Conference. Of course, he will not miss such special delicacies on this occasion.
"Okay, thank you for hosting us!" Misty thanked Ross on behalf of everyone.
"Have a nice trip guys!"
