Chereads / Grey: Master Of The Celestials / Chapter 38 - Beauty for Show

Chapter 38 - Beauty for Show

The Acheron Realm was a modest world, approximately 30 percent the size of Earth. In this realm, only the most formidable could claim the title of king, and the Starwing family had ruled for millennia.

Though various families existed, all remained loyal to the ruling family. Despite occasional discontent and grievances, they ultimately adjusted to and accepted the leadership.

Many families boasted Raja-stage powerhouses, with some having as many as two. The Starwing family, however, had four Raja beings, with Varelius being the strongest in the realm. This strength likely contributed to their extended reign.

The Fallen Angels had resided in this realm for over a hundred thousand years, having been expelled from Celestia. Their fall began when they were tainted by evil. The origins were mysterious—some believed it was due to an attack by a malevolent force, while others thought it was the result of the sins and cruelty of Heaven.

In ancient times, half of the angelic race fell to corruption, sparking a massive war between the angels and the Fallen Angels. With the angels seeking to annihilate the Fallen Angels, who resisted fiercely. At that time, the Fallen Angels were still mastering their new powers, which led to their eventual defeat.

The Fallen Angels fled Celestia and scattered across Earth, eventually discovering the desolate Acheron Realm and other realm, which became their strongholds. The Forsaken, a powerful faction of Fallen Angels and other species at different realm, stood on par with Celestia. Several battles between the Celestials and the Forsaken had resulted in widespread devastation.

Grey closed the book he had been reading, leaned back in his chair, and gazed thoughtfully at the sky. "So much happened in ancient times," he murmured.

He was engrossed in a book on the history of Acheron, seated in a room with a glass ceiling that revealed the dark sky above. Books were strewn across the floor around him. He had been waiting for three hours after agreeing to become their eternal protector. Varelius had instructed him to wait, as he had other matters to handle and was preparing to make a grand announcement to the entire realm of Acheron. The anticipation was palpable, and Grey couldn't help but feel a mix of impatience and curiosity!

Grey's gaze shifted to the wooden door, adorned with intricate designs that gave it a stunning look.

Knock!

"Grey!"

Aira's voice echoed from outside as the sound of knocking filled the air.

In a blink, Grey disappeared from his spot and reappeared at the door, opening it swiftly.

He found Aira waiting eagerly.

As soon as the door opened, Aira burst out excitedly, "Let's go, Father has summoned you!"

Grey nodded with a smile spreading across his face. Yes, it was finally time for him to choose some treasures!

Grey and Aira hurried through the castle, taking various turns and winding through many corridors. The castle was enormous, and its beauty enchanted Grey.

He admired the dominant white and black decor, accented with touches of blue and green.

As they neared their destination, a sudden thought crossed Grey's mind.

'I'll build my own castle, the most beautiful and majestic in the whole world!' he thought. He had no idea where this desire came from, but it felt right.

After a few minutes, they finally reached the meeting place and saw Varelius waiting alone.

Not a single noble fallen angel was there, though Grey had expected them to be present, ready to cause trouble over his appointment as Eternal Protector. Though they couldn't openly defy their ruler, some found pleasure in making Grey's life difficult.

It seemed Varelius had taken care of everything.

Grey eyed the man who stood majestically with one hand behind his back. Varelius was about two meters tall, towering over Grey.

As they approached, Varelius spoke, "Follow me, Grey. Aira, you go to Selene and arrange what I instructed."

Aira nodded and departed, while Grey followed Varelius towards a massive, imposing door made of a hard substance.

Varelius turned to Grey. "Once you enter, you'll have to go through a quick trial. You'll be checked, and then you'll be teleported to the treasury."

Grey nodded and stepped forward as the door opened automatically.

Behind the huge doors was a small, empty room with only a rock pillar stand supporting a glass sphere, reminiscent of those used by fortune tellers.

"I guess I should place my hand on this," Grey muttered, then did so.

The sphere lit up with a bright white light, then black, and then flickered through various colors before settling on a grey hue. After Grey removed his hand, the sphere glowed green.

The room began to vibrate, and the wall behind the pillar opened, revealing the shining treasures beyond.

Grey vanished and appeared just in front of the heaps of treasures.
