As Klaus' spear pierced the male gray spider's belly, he heard Rand let out a cry of pain.
The male gray spider turned to face Klaus, its two black fangs stained with blood. By then, Klaus had no weapon in his hand, and the male gray spider darted swiftly towards Klaus.
Klaus' heart tightened as he prepared for his final confrontation with the male gray spider, who leaped high above Klaus' head.
To avoid being scratched by the burrs on the antennae of the male gray spider, Klaus immediately bent his legs and fell backwards. A gust of wind swept across Klaus' cheek, and the male gray spider curled up the egg on the ground with its antennae, then opened its mouth and spat a silvery-white spider's silk into the air.
In a matter of seconds, the male gray spider quickly disappeared into the darkness.
Klaus looked at the sky where the male gray spider had landed and was relieved to be sure that it would not return.
"Rand!"
That's when Klaus noticed Rand lying on the ground, his chest torn open by the fangs of the male gray spider, the blood gushing like a fountain.
"Are you okay?" Klaus pressed Rand's wound with his hand, noting at this point that Rand's face had turned purple. He shuddered, and his eyes rolled continually.
No matter how many times Klaus called out to Rand, he never responded, and even his temperature was dropping fast. That's when the panel appeared in front of Klaus' eyes.
[Reward: Water of Life.] Purpose: Life Extension
[Use or Storage]
Klaus glanced down at Rand, who had been bitten so badly by the male gray spider that he would soon die like Abel. Should he leave him here, or should he try to save him with the Water of Life?
By this time, Rand was unconscious, but his hand was tightly clasped in Klaus's, appealing to him for help.
Klaus remembered lying in his hospital bed, desperate, like Rand, to live when death came.
It was at this moment that Klaus changed his mind.
"Use the Water of Life," Klaus commanded the panel.
A white bottle appeared before Klaus, who took it in his hand and quickly opened the cap.
"Drink it, Rand." Klaus poured the Water of Life into Rand's mouth, bit by bit.
When Rand had drunk the entire contents of the Water of Life, his body ceased to tremble, and he closed his eyes and went to rest.
Klaus saw that the wound on Rand's chest was no longer bleeding, and the scratch was rapidly healing. Klaus then pressed two fingers against Rand's neck arteries, and he could feel Rand's temperature and pulse rise.
Rand's dark purple face slowly returned to its normal color, and Klaus watched him silently. A few seconds later, Rand's eyes snapped open, and he sat up straight, breathing like a drowning man who had just been given oxygen.
"What happened?" Rand looked at Klaus in amazement.
"You were bitten by that male gray spider just now," Klaus said calmly. "I gave you a healing potion."
"I feel like I'm coming back from hell." Rand frowned, trying to remember what had just happened, but judging by his distressed expression, it seemed as if he had fallen into a momentary fit of amnesia.
"I can't remember what just happened." Rand kneaded his forehead with his hand as he noticed the blood on his chest.
"Are you poisoned?" Rand asked.
"Yes."
"Where did you find the healing potion?" Rand looked at Klaus quizzically.
"It was given to me by the Snake Woman, before I left the tribe." Klaus had invented a lie.
"We need to get out of here now." Klaus diverted the conversation, "Who knows when that damn gray spider will be back."
Klaus picked up the spear on the ground and plunged it into the abdomen of the female gray spider, then cut a hole in her abdomen from which a clear stream of mucus flowed out. Klaus reached into the female gray spider's body and rummaged through it, and soon came across the magic nucleus.
"This is the gray spider's magic nucleus, right?" Rand approached Klaus, his eyes fixed on the magic nucleus in Klaus's hands.
"Now we've got the magic nucleus." Klaus put the magic nucleus in his pocket, "Now the succubus queen can't refuse marriage."
"We can't just leave." Rand's gaze fell on the magic crystals beside him, "We have to take these magic crystals with us."
"But the two of us can't move these magic crystals on our own." Klaus hesitated, "What if that gray spider comes back?"
"So we have to pick up the pace." Rand said, "You go and get that succubus outside the cave to come in and help us move the magic crystals."
"Okay."
Klaus retraced his steps, and, to his surprise, the white maggots fled at his approach, and one by one they fled up the walls of the cave, as if fleeing for their lives.
"Are they afraid of me?" Klaus was puzzled, and that was when he noticed that his hands were stained with the slime of the gray spider.
"Turns out they're afraid of the smell of gray spiders." Now Klaus understood.
When Klaus returned to the cave, he saw the Succubus, Ruby, sitting lazily on a rock, her mouth munching on something like a leaf.
"You're still alive?" Ruby looked surprised.
"As you can see." Klaus shrugged.
"So your brother is dead?" Ruby said, spitting out a slimy red plant onto the ground, "I guess you didn't get the gray spider's magic nucleus."
"Then you're wrong." Klaus said, drawing out the gray spider's magic nucleus and dangling it before her.
"Oh, it can't be." Ruby was stunned to see the magic nucleus.
"I need you to come with me into the cave."
"Me?" Ruby glanced back at the dimly lit opening, a hint of timidity flashing in her eyes, "Now that you've got the magic nucleus, I should inform Elder Yuna to open the portal."
"I'm not going to leave yet." "There are a lot of magic crystals in the cave, and I need you to help us carry them," Klaus said.
"You mean magic crystals?" Ruby said, "You guys even found magic crystals?"
"So you're going to help us?"
"I need to inform Elder Yuna, maybe you need more help." Ruby pulled a blue crystal from her waist pocket and chanted a spell over it. Soon, Yuna's face appeared on the crystal's surface.
