Professor Carter froze the moment he heard the word Ashborn. The name hit him like a sledgehammer, draining the colour from his face. His arrogant composure crumbled as he looked at the calm, steely-eyed woman sitting before him.
"Catherine Ashborn," he muttered under his breath, realisation dawning.
"Yes," Catherine said firmly, her tone daring him to argue. "And you'd do well to remember what that means. You're standing in my office, in my guild, making demands without understanding the situation or the people involved. I suggest you rethink your position before embarrassing yourself further."
