For the next few days, Mei Ling adapted to Tang Li Na's life and her new image. To be honest, Tang Li Na was such a beauty. Her unique silver hair and her black eyes with a hint of grey, were the features that Mei Ling literally fell in love with the most.
Fragments of lost memories came back to her bit by bit as time passed by. Her grandfather and cousin, Tang Luwei, helped her to adjust and kept her company in the lonely hospital room everyday.
She came to know that she was the president of Tang Enterprises, one of the largest conglomerates in the country and supposedly, a tycoon. However, during her coma, her cousin had taken over. Everytime Tang Luwei came to visit, he complained to her asking her to recover quickly so that he can finally laze around like he used to, six months ago.
Like today. Tang Luwei was expertly peeling an apple for her, as he elegantly sat on the couch next to her hospital bed.
"Lili , I think you're finally okay now, right? You should take over the company soon. It's too tiring you know." He complained as he handed her a bowl with pieces of the apple in it.
Taking it, Tang Li Na smiled at her cousin.
"Just two more months, Weiwei and I'll take over again so that you can finally laze around and join grandpa in the underworld business."
He signed dejectedly and grumbled under his breath. Tang Li Na chuckled. No one could ever imagine that the so called cold president of Tang Enterprises was acting like this. Everyone who knew Tang Luwei perceived him as a cold and unapproachable man but who knew he was literally a cute person under that cold personality of his.
He rested his head on his knuckles as he started rambling on what was going on in his life.
Just then, the door opened with a bang and a lady dressed in a designer dress, heels and large sunglasses barged in. She was panting hard as if she had ran a marathon.
"Hold on... lemme just... Catch my breath." She said as she collapsed on the couch next to Tang Luwei and took deep breaths.
The two cousins glanced at her as she finally calmed down. "Why didn't you call me? My phone number is literally pinned on your contact list but I had to hear the news from him, yesterday." She addressed Tang Li Na accusingly as she pointed at Tang Luwei.
Mei Ling immediately figured out that she was Tang Li Na's best friend since her highschool days. Lu Xiaoli.
Lu Xiaoli was an international A list super model who walked on the ramps of famous designer brands. She was famous across the continent of Asia, if not the world.
"You should first give me a hug, don't you think?" Tang Li Na smiled as she opened her arms wide for her best friend.
Lu Xiaoli rolled her eyes but then smiled hugged her. "Do you know how worried I was, Li Na? Six months felt like six decades. I'm glad you're okay." She said as emotions swirled in her.
"I'm fine now, don't cry." She comforted as she patted Lu Xiaoli's back.
After twenty minutes of crying, Lu Xiaoli calmed down as she sniffed.
They talked for quite a while until she finally left, promising to be back the next day. Tang Luwei also bid his cousin goodbye and left for the night.
Tang Li Na sighed and relaxed on the bed. She took her phone and went through the current affairs, the stock market and the gossip in the entertainment world.
As she was scrolling, she came across a couple whose picture was taken during an event. She read the article that basically entailed that the two had been engaged and their families were currently discussing marriage.
From the memories she had managed to acquire, these two wereon the list of her enemies, her step sister and her ex boyfriend. It was cliche even to her but most novels revolved around this plot and the novel she had transmigrated into, was no different.
Yes, she had finally figured out why the dialogues and characters were so familiar. She had transmigrated into her favorite novel. She knew the plot and the story. However, in the novel, Tang Li Na was never happy and Mei Ling had made it her mission to change Tang Li Na's destiny.
The author of the novel had never completed it and Mei Ling never knew what happened to Tang Li Na later on. The author had hinted that, due to psychological stress and trauma, Tang Li Na would be driven to commit suicide.
It was a hunch but Mei Ling guessed that that would happen but she vowed to change that sorrowful ending and instead, give Tang Li Na the happiness she deserved.
She had of course tried to search for the book online hoping that she would read the ending of the novel, but as expected, it was nowhere to be found.
Tang Li Na sighed as she switched off her phone and closed her eyes, intending to fall asleep.
After twenty minutes of nothing, she decided to take a walk in the hospital. She wore a cardigan and stepped out of the room. Her assigned bodyguards immediately straightened when they saw her and bowed,as a sign of respect. She nodded her head as greeting and started her walk. She noticed that two of the bodyguards were trailing her.
"Guys, I'm not leaving the premises. I'm just going for a walk so there's no need to follow me."
The men nodded and bowed before going back to their posts.
As she headed to the elevator, she passed by another room where some bodyguards were also stationed outside the door, on guard. It seemed there was another esteemed patient in the building.
Her room was located on the top most floor and only the VIPs had access to the rooftop. She decided to lounge on the rooftop as she watched the city lights from above.
As the elevator doors opened, she stepped out and the cold night breeze hit her and she shivered from the cold.
"I should have worn a heavier jacket." She murmured to herself as she walked towards the railed edge of the rooftop. From where she stood, one could see the endless beauty of the illuminated city.
She stretched her arms wide and took a freshening deep breath only for her to inhale smoke, which caused her to cough violently.
