Florah looked skeptically at the king, Gavriel raised his left brow in askance of what was taking the girl so long to follow his order.
The redhead moved slowly to sit beside the king rather stiffly.
Gavriel opened a small compartment beside his seat to remove a small white towel. He turned to his maid, pushing her head down a bit. He grabbed a handful of her hair and started drying it with the towel.
A confused and uncomfortable Florah just sat there bending weirdly. She kept on asking herself,'What was happening?' She knew what was happening, but she wondered why it was happening
"Your Majesty, I can do it. Please don't trouble yourself, " Florah said politely.
But her words fell on deaf ears, and Gavriel continued to dry the girl's hair. In the next moment, a small black mist wrapped around his hand as he parted her hair to dry her scalp.
He closed his eyes, focusing his energy on breaking the seemingly impenetrable barrier to the girl's memory cell.
The last time he did this was when he failed to compel information out of a man who had silver water in his veins.
Many humans who didn't want to become victims of vampires' compulsion drank silver water, which strengthened their brain cells to resist compulsion.
The method he now used was a dangerous one, which mostly ended up killing the person whose cell was broken completely, and right now, the king was using that same method to get information out of the girl.
If she died, then she must have been nothing special because this method normally didn't kill powerful beings like pureblood witches, vampires, werewolves, and some powerful humans.
But rather, if used aggressively, it could damage their cells for them to be easily compelled.
A minute had passed, and Florah had started to feel a slight headache, which disappeared and came from time to time.
She wondered if it was because the king was taking an awfully long time to dry her hair.
Meanwhile, Gavriel was amazed by the fact that he couldn't get into the girl's cells nomatter how many walls he passed through.
His mist entered her subconscious, trying to enter her cell, but nothing worked, but rather, he saw only darkness.
It was like the girl had no memories. Everything seemed dark like a blank canvas.
Opening his eyes, he looked down at the girl smirking at the mystery she was.
The more he probed into her life, the more curious he became.
And a curious Gavriel was far worse than his usual self because he would stop at nothing before he knew what he wanted to know.
Removing the now damp towel from her, "Do you plan on dying?" Gavriel asked bluntly.
Florah stared at him in wonder of why he had asked something like that out of the blue.
"No, your highness. I don't plan on dying anytime soon. " Despite his bizarre question, Florah answered calmly.
"Well, I heard that most humans can die from a mere fever, and you said you were human. Also, doesn't wet hair cause a high fever for most 'humans', Gavriel drawled subtly, telling his maid to dry her hair so as not to get sick and die.
"I don't want to through the trouble of getting another maid when you die," Gavriel said bluntly, leaving his maid stunned.
Florah had thought that by his first words, he actually cared for her well-being, which was until he said his last words.
She cleared her throat and said, "l will be sure to not get sick, your Majesty."
"Master," Gavriel said.
Florah looked at him, wondering why he said that.
"From now on, you are to call me 'Master'." The king ordered.
"Yes, your Maj.. Master" Florah quickly corrected herself, calling him the way he wanted her to.
Florah wanted to go back to her seat as being this close to the king, unnerved her.
Her plans were soiled when the man decided to put his feet on her former seat, crisscrossing his legs leisurely and making himself comfortable.
About fifteen insufferable minutes of silence passed for the carriage to come to a stop.
Florah rejoiced secretly in her head, praying to get out of the carriage to wherever as long as it wasn't in the same space as the man beside her.
The coachman came to the carriage's side and opened the door for the king.
He was surprised to see that the maid that had disappeared this morning was with the king.
Her attire also caught his attention because it wasn't a usual sight to see a maid wearing such a dress.
He wondered if it was one of the perks of being the King's personal servant.
