Chapter 16
- Tenten-
She sighed. She failed... again...
It's been almost a year since she started her work on the path to becoming a medic-nin. And now after memorizing all the books and taking exams, she was stuck.
Stuck trying to do the most basic of the medical jutsu.
"Damn it." She muttered under her breath as she failed to heal the fish on her table.
She was trying to perform the most basic medical jutsu and failing to do so. And here she had the dream to become a medic-nin like Senju Tsunade, her idol.
Her chakra control was more than good enough and she didn't have a problem like her teammate Lee then what was the problem.
"Here you will start to work on your medical jutsu." She heard people walking in the room. She glanced as the door opened, and to her surprise, she knew both of the people.
"Naruto? What are you doing here?" She asked before even thinking about it. To her surprise, the blonde-whiskered boy was different from what she knew before.
He looked more handsome...?
She shook her head and stopped thinking about it. She had far more important things to think about.
"Oh! Tenten, you are here to learn medical jutsu, too." Naruto said to her with a smile.
She also got her answer. Though it would be a lie to say she was not surprised.
"Kabuto-senpai here is taking care of me. Even though he is still a genin he is very good at medical jutsu." Naruto introduced the Kabuto and gave Tenten a name that she could use instead of thinking of the guy as the glasses guy.
Seeing the guy, Kabuto as Naruto introduced smile at her she couldn't help but give an awkward smile back.
Why the hell she was getting a slimy feeling from Kabuto?
"So, you are here to learn Mystic palm jutsu?" She asked hoping herself to be wrong. It took her more than a year just to get the chance to learn medical jutsu. And it would hit her confidence hard if she found out Naruto caught up to her.
"Yes, I am here to learn Mystic palm jutsu. Why don't we all work together, that way we can help each other."
And here she thought she could hope. Shaking her depressing thoughts out of her mind she decided to accept Naruto's offer. At the very least she hoped it could help.
"Sure, why not." And she agreed.
Half an hour later. She looked at her fish in amazement, it was alive and moving. Her heart beating in excitement, she shouted in her mind in excitement. She had finally done it!
"Congratulations." She looked at Naruto and stopped herself from jumping at him and hugging him. It was such a simple thing and how did she missed it she was not sure. Visualization. She had to visualize and she could've done it before, but better late than never.
"Thanks."
With a beautiful smile, she thanked him.

On the other side of the village, Naruto and his shadow clones were busy training. The real Naruto fighting against his shadow clones while wearing weights.
His body was full of sweat and a few bruises over his body. Even then he had a small smile on his face, he was enjoying fighting.
"I think you should heal yourself and take a small break." One of the shadow clones said to the real Naruto.
"Don't waste my time! I am feeling the pressure! And I can feel the improvement!" He grinned even with a busted lip, blood trickling out of his mouth. Not that he had much to care about in less than half an hour he would go back to like nothing happened. Clenching his fist hard he said nothing more and went on the offensive.
"Man, I have to be on the most boring job." One of the shadow clones said as it watched the training session. His job was to sense if anyone was coming toward them. With a couple of few more shadow clones, they were keeping an eye out.
There were a lot of his shadow clones who were busy using jutsu, they had the job to make sure jutsus were up to Naruto's expectation. Almost all of Naruto's jutsus needed close to no hand seals to make, but he was not satisfied with that alone. Naruto wanted them to be instinctual to him.
"Someone is coming here!" One of the shadow clones said he had a frown on his face. He was concentrating.
"It feels like a child's chakra. Chakra level is the level of most genins. I will look into it." He said leaving the place with Shunshin jutsu.
Even though Naruto couldn't make Shunshin battle-ready like he wanted. Especially because he lacked the reaction speed or Sharingan, he could use it in a small burst in battle. Other than that it was a very handy jutsu for his daily life.
He soon reached where he sensed someone. Only to find someone surprising.
Hanabi Hyuga, the younger sister of Hinata, was glaring at him with her Byakugan active.
Who was also there to see the reason for her older sister's changes. Her annoyance was directed at Naruto.
'I did not think it would be Hanabi. And it seems like she is not happy meeting me.' Naruto said in his mind as a smile appeared on his face.
"You must be Hanabi Hyuga, Hinata's lovely little sister. She talked a lot about you." He said trying to make a good impression.
Hanabi's frown lessened as she heard that. "Really? Nee-san talks about me? What she says about me?"
As a ninja and Hyuga member she was trained in shinobi arts extensively, and she was here for answers.
"She says how much of a cute and lovely little sister you are, and how hard you work." Naruto felt like sweating as Hanabi frowned a little.
"So, why are you here?" He asked hoping to change the topic and make Hanabi stop frowning at him.
It was just the opportunity Hanabi needed. "I don't know what happened. But Nee-san changed. And I am here to know what have you done to her." Hanabi entered her fighting stance saying that. Her Byakugan focusing on him, trying to look menacing.
Yes, Hanabi decided to put all that learning aside and get the answers she wanted. And she was confident in getting her answers after beating Naruto.
More than 1 k.m. away Hiashi felt like palming his face as he peeked at the situation.
'What the hell is wrong with this chibi? Who thinks about fighting someone who clearly outranks them, older and stronger on just a little talk. Or maybe I am just too dumb to understand...' He scratched the back of his head, and his smile turned a little awkward.
Naruto had to start dodging as Hanabi went on the offensive, intent on incapacitating him.
"Hanabi, calm down and take a long breath. I don't think Hinata will be happy to hear about all this after she comes back from her mission. Besides you can ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them." Naruto would soon regret saying that because the young Hyuga had a lot of questions that nobody answered her, and only a few of them were related to the reason she came.
But at the same time, it was a good bonding experience for both of them. For Naruto, it would give him the chance to talk with someone like a younger sister figure. Same with Hanabi who deep down hoped to spend time with her older sister, still she got a chance to spend time with Naruto like her older brother.
"I will be back."
"Don't forget your promise that you will not hurt Nee-san."
"Also, don't forget you agreed to teach me."
Hanabi said as she left, leaving Naruto whose satisfied smile twitched.

Entering the village from a secret entrance Kakashi couldn't help but feel relaxed. His teammates were also feeling the same, given he could see them feel more relaxed.
A month-long ANBU mission was taxing for everyone. Couple with the fact that missing nins were popping out one after another.
On that note, he was glad that Zabuza and his team ran away. That could've become a massive trouble.
"Team Ro, dismissed. Gather at our usual place in two days." He dismissed them as he also needed some rest. But before that, he had the job to do. Give the mission report.
Sometimes later Kakashi stood in front of the third Hokage giving his mission report.
"Zabuza ran away toward Kiri. We don't think it was related to Kiri, but it's safe to say if he comes back he will get hunted now that Wave is one of our allies."
"At least it didn't become a bigger problem." Third Hokage commented.
As the world would know how Geto's guards killed him. And Konoha shinobi did what their job was, protect the bridge builder and nothing else. The alliance was nothing more than a bonus and thanks.
"Kakashi take a look at this." Third Hokage handed him a piece of paper, he carefully went through it.
"Huh... So my short-team ANBU career ends?" Kakashi said as he learned about Sasuke's Sharingan awakening. But what caught his eye was the fact that what situation made Sasuke awaken his eyes.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes, in his mind it was suspicious, not to mention there was no reason for Sakura to get target. Sakura was a civilian kunoichi and only her connection makes her special...
Her connections.
Well Kakashi didn't have to look any further and he understood it clearly.
"Till the start of this year's chunin exam be their Sensei and try to do as many D ranks as possible." Third Hokage said as he looked at him.
"It will make everyone think of you as their teacher as the papers will say the same. Also, keep an eye on their training. Yamato is training them way too seriously. They are just genin, there's no need to go that hard." Hearing that Kakashi understood by teaching them he would continue the Hokage line, but before that, he had to have a chat with his Kohai.
"So, Tenzo will go back to ANBU?" Kakashi had a lot to think about.
A part of him wondered how he was going to meet them after he failed them. He was not sure how much of a sensei he could be. He had half a mind telling Hokage to let him stay in ANBU for a little longer, after all, Yamato would stop his training when the chunin exam started.
"On that matter you don't have to worry. But Guy is trying to find you. You should meet with him." And he knew his new ANBU career was over. So instead of complaining about it, he accepted it.
"Yes, Hokage-sama."

-Rasa-
Being a leader of a shinobi village is hard.
Being the leader of Sand Shinobi village was even harder.
He as the fourth Kazekage knew that better than anyone else. It was not like he didn't like the power and prestige that came with the position.
But the responsibility was just too much.
Suna was a shinobi village in the middle of a desert. Business and missions were the primary way for the village to continue. And to prosper it also needed some extra help from the Daimyo.
Only if that fool of a Daimyo understood that. Rasa wanted to slowly kill that fool, who even in Suna's dire state was giving the missions to Konoha.
Suffice it to say it made him hate both the Sand Daimyo and Konoha even more than before.
It was not like he was not trying, his time digging gold could attest to that. But he simply couldn't make that fool of a Daimyo to change his mind.
He found himself in a dilemma. He couldn't do anything to the Daimyo and Konoha was too strong for him to try and attack. All the while he could barely maintain the village. They even had to go to the elite route to lower the shinobi numbers.
After all with Sand's finance, higher numbers of shinobi would only become a burden than anything.
Knock knock
Even before the knock he knew who was coming. He was daydreaming about gutting the Daimyo but that didn't mean he was a Kage for nothing. His senses easily picked up the person.
"Come in." As he said that Baki one of his trusted jonins entered the office with a scroll in his hand.
He wondered what kind of message it was that Baki was in such a hurry.
"Kazekage sama, we received the message from a white snake. After checking for any trap we believe it's a message from the traitor Orochimaru." Hearing that he frowned a little.
Taking the scroll he opened it while couldn't help but wonder about what could be the reason. After reading the scroll three times he couldn't help but frown. His frown deepened as he understood.
"You can go." He dismissed Baki, he had a lot on his mind.
Like how Orochimaru knew so much about Sand's situation? Or how it sounded too good to be true.
He knew it was stupid to trust the snake, but he was getting out of options. And if he didn't do something about it Sand would very likely lose its position as one of the great five shinobi village.
He was not going to let something like that happen.
But at the same time, it was not a great idea to attack Leaf Village just to show the Daimyo that Sand was still a capable village. Starting a war against Konoha would also mean they would have to defend Konoha's counterattack...
On that note, he felt a burst of joy. In all the past shinobi wars Konoha was always busy defending their own land or taking back their land. Attacking Suna would only give the Suna village more advantage to show their capabilities. And if the invasion didn't make the Daimyo satisfied Suna's ability to defend itself would definitely make him impressed.
And for all that, if he had to work with a snake he would agree to that. As the Kazekage of Suna, he would do that for his village's future.
He decided to give a reply as he started to write. But only the future would tell the results of his actions.
