Nu Wan shook her head, she didn't want this at all.
Ling Xiating raised his fingers, which at the moment looked like claws to Nu Wan.
"If you do not want this? All you have to do is say so..."
He rolled over and took her into his embrace, his body growing colder by the second.
"What matters to me the most is that you're here..."
Nu Wan's heart slammed against her chest. Just who the hell was Ling Xiaoting?
Her voice trembled as she asked, "Your heart is beating wildly, are you scared? Do you have questions?"
Ling Xiaoting's gaze seemed to pierce through her, his sharp black eyes resembling those of a raptor or a reptile. They stared at her with a cold, scrutinizing intensity.
"Yes! Who are you, what are you?" Nu Wan's voice rose, her fear and curiosity warring for dominance.
Not only was she scared, but she also wanted to get as far away from this man as possible.
Ling Xiaoting got up and walked to the couch, his movements fluid and graceful. Nu Wan could finally see his features clearly, her gaze drawn to his eyes like a magnet.
Nu Wan bit her lips, her curiosity getting the better of her. She didn't want to get any closer to him, but her legs seemed to move of their own accord, carrying her to the opposite couch.
"What are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ling Xiaoting's gaze seemed to bore into her soul, his eyes glinting with a hint of amusement. "I'm a dragon, the last living dragon or at least the only one left on earth..."
Nu Wan's lips twitched, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. Did she just hear him right? Dragon? As in, mythical creatures that didn't exist?
"Where did the rest go?" she asked, her voice laced with sarcasm.
"They're up in the clouds. There's a whole new world up above the clouds..." Ling Xiaoting's voice was matter-of-fact, as if he was discussing the weather.
Nu Wan chuckled, finding his words incredulous. It seemed she was about to work for a madman.
"You don't believe me?" Ling Xiaoting's gaze narrowed, his eyes glinting with challenge.
"Anyone would find it hard to believe you, Mister Ling. Why don't you show proof that you're actually a dragon?" Nu Wan's voice was bold, but her heart was racing with fear.
Ling Xiaoting licked his lips, a slow, deliberate movement. "If it's a demonstration you want, darling, then that's what you'll get. But you have to promise Daddy you won't run when you find him terrifying..."
With that, Ling Xiaoting's body began to shift, his legs disappearing as a black snake-like body took its place. The room was too small for him to transform into his full form, so he transformed only his lower body.
Nu Wan's eyes widened in shock as she stood up from the couch, her instincts screaming at her to run. But Ling Xiaoting's lower body was enormous, blocking the door and trapping her in the room.
"Is it terrifying?" Ling Xiaoting's voice was low and husky, his tail stroking her chin with an unnatural intimacy.
Nu Wan backed away, her heart racing with fear. She didn't dare look away from Ling Xiaoting, her gaze fixed on his eyes as she stumbled backward to the farthest corner of the room.
"I mean no harm to you, you merely wanted a demonstration, and I gave it to you..." Ling Xiaoting's voice was calm, but his eyes seemed to burn with an inner intensity.
In a flash, Ling Xiaoting changed back to normal, clearing the path to freedom. But Nu Wan knew she was trapped, caught in his web of secrets and lies.
"Shall we continue the conversation, then?" Ling Xiaoting sighed, his throat parched.
"Did you pee your pants? Surely I'm not that terrifying?" His tone was light, but Nu Wan knew better. She knew she was in grave danger, and she had to tread carefully if she wanted to survive.
"W-Why are you the only one left here?" Nu Wan's voice was barely above a whisper.
Ling Xiaoting's gaze seemed to cloud over, his eyes darkening with a hint of pain. "As a punishment for causing pain and misery many eons ago..."
Nu Wan blinked, her mind reeling with the implications. That was a harsh punishment, unless he had done something much worse.
"Is that all you did? I know you must have done something much worse?" Nu Wan's voice was laced with curiosity, her gaze fixed on Ling Xiaoting's face.
Ling Xiaoting sighed, his eyes clouding over with a hint of regret. "What happened that day was a result of me not being able to control my anger..."
Ling Xiaoting snorted, his face twisting in disgust. "Why would I fall in love with that annoying goddess? If a woman can't spark my desire, I don't see the need to fall in love with her. Her death brought me much happiness. And I guess the elder gods noticed that. But can't help it, I'm a black dragon, it's in my nature."
Nu Wan's face paled, her heart racing with fear. "Will you kill me if you find me annoying?"
Ling Xiaoting's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with desire. "Annoying? Right now, I find you rather irresistible. You're much better than the first Nu Wan. It would be a pity to kill an innocent little bunny."
Nu Wan's face flushed, her heart racing with embarrassment. "She sparked my annoyance while you spark my desire..."
Nu Wan's eyes dropped, her face burning with shame. She didn't want to be stuck with this madman, but it seemed she had no choice.
Holding his hand out, Ling Xiaoting said, "Let me show you to your room. Normally, I wouldn't show a maid to her room, but you can't be a maid anymore, can you?."
Nu Wan's eyes widened in panic.
Room?! What room? She wanted to go home! Escape this a place and never return!
Nu Wan turned to leave, but Ling Xiaoting's chuckle stopped her. "You've met the devil now you want to escape hell? That's impossible, sweetheart!"
