As dusk fell, the Sun Family's kiln welcomed a portly man with his eyes higher than the top, looking down on everyone as if he held a high position.
The usually arrogant Sun Huowang rushed forward to shake hands with him, acting all subservient.
"Chairman Wanyan, I knew a distinguished guest would visit us when I heard the magpies chirping this morning, but I never expected it to be you," he said.
"Ha-ha, what sort of distinguished guest am I? I'm not even an official," the man replied.
Though he spoke politely, he plopped down, crossed his legs casually, and picked up a cigar from the table.
Like a groveling dog, Sun Huowang quickly found a cushion for him.
This man, Wanyan Lie, was the chairman of the town's business association, responsible for attracting businesses and investments to the town and a regular visitor to the Sun Family's kiln.
"You haven't visited us in quite a while?" Sun Huowang said with a smile plastered on his face.
