Chapter 7 - Spears, Stones, and Shelter

The forest is very quiet, not death silent but damn near close. So either there's not many animals; unlikely, or there's something big and nasty that makes everything else scared. With these thoughts on my mind, I start looking for a good stick to sharpen.

Moving above the creek leads me through dead trees and mossy dirt. Maybe a hundred-two hundred feet up is when I find it, my lovely looking stick. It's on the ground and covered in moss, but it'll work.

I walk back down the creek while stripping the stick of moss bugs, and other stuff. Once it's fully clean, which takes a few minutes, I go looking for a good sharpening stone.

Seeing as how there's a creek full of stones I won't need to look far.

It takes a few minutes of searching and rummaging, but a sharpening stone has been found. The reward for such an accomplishment is cold and wet hands along with cold, wet feet; just like home.

So now, with this rock of infinite potential I shall simply sharpen my stick. I walk over to my soon to be spear and GRAB IT! Now, with stick in hand A, and rock in hand B, I shall combine both elements to achieve, SPEAR; hand AB.

Though it was through the making of the spear and it's end that I had noticed the sun's position. It had drooped to the west, still in the sky but most likely only giving me a few more hours to find food or make shelter. AND! seeing as how I still hear barely a whisper of nature, I'll just make shelter.

Another voyage of stick gathering and, different stick gathering I go.

-

Alright, so... making a shelter when you haven't been taught is Really Fucking hard. They do that shit in movies so easily. Though... though, though, though, I did get it done. And Voilla, a simple triangle shelter with spruce branchlet things acting as cover. Badly explained, let's try again.

Three branches are acting as the structure, one longer, and two average. The Average ones are set in an A type shape while the long branch rests on them. Branches are added to the outside to act as walling.

There, hopefully that's a better explanation. Now, seeing as this rickety, about to fall at any second, shelter is done, and the sun is near gone, I'm going to try to rest in her.
