"Clack clack clack."
Or that's what I imagine footsteps would sound like hitting the marble tile floor. The floors are white marble tile with fine engravings. These engravings seem so grandiose that I can't even see a tenth of it as they stretch to gargantuan scales.
Soft Yellow light emanates from where I guess the ceiling would be, but looking up it's all light. The closet example would be to call it sunlight but nothing artificial, like some grabbed the sun and painted their ceiling with it. It's very nice.
*Who enters my esteemed temple?*
Like a sledgehammer, that message slams itself into my head with terrible pain. After a few seconds of calming down, I call out "Sorry for the intrusion, I didn't know this was still in use. Uh, could you answer a few questions, please?"
The temple is silent for a few moments before the voice speaks again.
*Very well, what do you wish to ask, fair being?*
I shift around a little thinking of my questions before saying the first thing that comes to mind. "Uh, well my first question is where this place is, I guess."
*Heh heh ha, that's a question I've heard many a time. This is my temple, in my realm. Does that satisfy your curiosity?"
"I guess, I guess it does. My second question is why I'm here."
The voice doesn't instantly answer my question. Instead, it ponders while silence reigns supreme. At the end of its contemplation, it answers *I truly do not know. No souls have gone through my realm in much a long time. Now, what is your final question?"
I take a 'step' back, "I have limits to my questions? Wait, don't answer that, it doesn't count as a question."
It chuckles at my quick back peddling which is nice. So what would my last question be?
There are many that can be asked, for sure. One being if my family is alright, if I can go back, if I'll stay here, and all other manner of questions. But most pale to the most pressing one.
"Um, God, or whatever type of being you are. Will I be able to go back to Earth at all?"
Instantly the sun light dims considerably and I start thinking I may have asked the wrong question. It's while I'm waiting there that reality bends in on itself and I'm suddenly in a throne room.
If I thought the temple from before was beautiful, then this throne room is drop-dead gorgeous. Gold and silver pillars topped with glimmering diamonds and jewels. Statues depicting various beautiful women in rather scandalous attire having their eyes or nails replaced with cut gems.
All leading up to a throne which hosts my, well host. The person I've been speaking to since entering, was a rather old looking man.
He looked old and weathered, but you could tell that he was quite handsome when he was younger. There's also an aura around him, one which radiates warmth and kindness, instantly putting me right at ease.
Seeing the man, no, that's not right. Seeing the god in flesh, I ask him another question.
"I can't go home, can I?"
The old god shakes his head with sadness in his eyes, *I'm sorry, but the dead can never walk with the living in their home.*
"Hahaha. Oh, joy," take a deep breath in and let it out, "what do I do then? Do I stay here and talk with you until the end of time, or is there something else that comes after you?"
*Hmm, both good questions, why don't I show you?*
"Show me what?"
*This*, and like that the grand throne room disappears and we enter somewhere else.
