Alfred walked into the study, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Dad, long time no see!" he exclaimed, extending a hand to his father, who rose from his chair to embrace him.
"Alfred, my boy!" Mr. Kenneth said, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. "It's great to see you! Come, sit down, tell me everything that's been happening in your life."
As they sat down, Alfred's eyes wandered to his father's left hand, where a prominent scar stretched across the palm. "Dad, even up till now, you've never told me how you got that scar," Alfred said, his curiosity piqued.
Mr. Kenneth's eyes dropped, his gaze fixed on the scar as if the memories were flooding back. He took a deep breath, his voice low and introspective. "It's a long story, Alfred. One I've kept hidden for many years. But I suppose it's time you knew the truth."
