CH - 18 ROSHNI 'S NEW ROOMMATE
Chapter 18:
Roshni's POV
ROSHNI walked out of the classroom, thinking about RUDHIR and muttering to herself, "Why was he leaving so early? I can't even say goodbye to him or ask why he's ignoring me in class? I thought we would be friends now... Ahh, come on ROSHNI, why are you thinking about him? He doesn't want to talk to you; why are you putting in so much effort? I know he saved me twice, but I said thank you, and now he doesn't want any interaction. Let him be, huh?"
ROSHNI sighed, then took a deep breath and muttered, huh classes are over. I have to go to the hostel; it's already 4 pm, and I'm hungry now. Since I'm here, let's go eat something." Then she walked towards the canteen.
The college canteen was a bustling hub of activity, filled with the aroma of freshly cooked food and the hum of lively chatter. The walls were adorned with colorful posters and notices, and the tables were always filled with students laughing, studying, or simply enjoying a meal. The canteen served a variety of dishes, from traditional comfort food to international cuisine, and the menu changed daily. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, with students often gathered in groups, sharing stories and jokes over a cup of coffee or a plate of food.
She sat at a table, going to order something, but when she saw the price, her jaw dropped, and she muttered, "Huh, I can't afford this expensive food! This college canteen looks like a 'cafe' more than a canteen. Why do they sell such expensive food? Well, I have to cook, but wait, I can eat in the mess; they sure have a mess." Then she asked a waiter, "Excuse me, when was the mess going to start?" The waiter replied, "Oh, you're late; lunch is already over, and the mess will open at 8:30 pm, or you can order something." She said, "Thank you, but I'm not that hungry; I should eat at dinner time." Then she walked out from the canteen, "Huh, I'm so hungry; I didn't eat from yesterday; my stomach is freaking hurting. Huh, guess I have to wait sometime or prepare food myself." But first, let's head to the college hostel.
She walked towards the college hostel and arrived in front of her room, entering it. When she entered, her nose picked up a very good smell, and she muttered, "Oh, curry; I love this!" Then she looked in front of her, and a girl in a black top and blue shorts was cooking something in a small kitchen. The kitchen was tiny according to the room; then she curbed and saw someone enter it. She looked at ROSHNI and said, "Ohh, hey ROSHNI, you arrived! Want to eat lunch together?" ROSHNI, feeling hungry and surprised, said, "You know me?" Then the girl chuckled and said, "Of course, who doesn't know you? You're quite popular now; hehe, but it seems like you forgot about me.
I'm in the same class as yours; my name is NEHA VERMA. I met you yesterday when Mr. KHADUSS RUDHIR saved you and left you unanswered." ROSHNI looked at NEHA and said, "Oh yeah, I remember now; hi NEHA. Since you know me, I won't introduce myself, but what about Mr. KHADUSS?" NEHA chuckled, "Oh, I mean RUDHIR; from the looks of it, I assume he's like a bad rude boy; you know, it's a nickname type." ROSHNI smiled, "Oh, okay, but he's not rude; he's just weird." Both chuckled and smiled. Suddenly, a growling sound came from ROSHNI's stomach; she smiled and said in her embarrassed voice, "Sorry, I didn't eat from yesterday; I'm pretty hungry right now." NEHA smiled and said, "Oh yeah, let's eat together." Then they sat down on the bed and started eating together, eager to get to know each other better.
TO BE CONTINUED.....
"So, NEHA, what made you choose this college?" ROSHNI asked, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
NEHA smiled, "I wanted a fresh start, and this place has a great reputation. How about you?"
ROSHNI shared her passion for psychology, and NEHA revealed her love for literature. As they chatted, they discovered a shared fascination with ghost stories. "Have you heard about the haunted hostel wing?" NEHA whispered, eyes wide with excitement.
ROSHNI's eyes grew wide, "No, tell me more!"
And so, they spent the evening swapping stories, laughter, and secrets, forging a new friendship. As they settled in for the night, ROSHNI grinned, "I'm so glad we're roomies, NEHA."
NEHA smiled back, "Me too, ROSHNI. Me too."
NEHA and ROSHNI continued their conversation, getting to know each other better.
NEHA asked, "So, ROSHNI, do you have a boyfriend?"
ROSHNI laughed and shook her head, "No, not at all! I'm here only for studying. I don't have time for anything else."
NEHA raised an eyebrow, "Really? You're not even interested in anyone?"
ROSHNI smiled, "Honestly, I don't have time to think about that right now. My focus is on my studies and building a good career. Maybe later, but not now."
NEHA nodded, "I understand. I was just curious because you're so beautiful and smart; I thought you must have someone special in your life."
ROSHNI blushed, and for a brief moment, she thought about RUDHIR. She quickly shrugged her shoulder, thinking, "What, ROSHNI? Don't think about him!" She pushed the thought aside and continued, "Thanks for the compliment, NEHA, but like I said, I'm here to focus on my studies. No distractions for me!"
NEHA grinned mischievously, "Well, we'll see about that! I'm sure you'll meet someone special here who will change your mind."
ROSHNI rolled her eyes, laughing, "I doubt it, but we'll see!"
As they continued talking, ROSHNI made a mental note to herself to avoid thinking about RUDHIR. She was determined to keep her focus on her studies and not let any distractions get in the way.
As they continued talking, suddenly an alarm clock rang, showing that it was already 8:30 PM. NEHA muttered, "Well, I'm hungry again; let's grab dinner!" They walked to the canteen, where the menu for dinner included daal and chawal. They ate while talking to each other, enjoying their meal.
After dinner, they returned to their room, continuing their conversation about studies and the upcoming syllabus. They discussed their plans for the next day and shared notes on their classes. As the night wore on, they talked for some more time until it was 10:15 PM.
Finally, feeling tired but content, they decided to call it a night. Feeling grateful for the new friendship they had formed. As they drifted off to sleep, they both knew that they would support each other through the ups and downs of college life.
NEHA yawned, "I'm so tired, ROSHNI. Goodnight!"
ROSHNI smiled, "Goodnight, NEHA. Sweet dreams!"
They turned off the lights and settled into their beds, feeling comfortable and at ease in each other's presence .
