Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: Persecution 2

Clint didn't recover from the shock until five minutes later.

"We should leave as soon as possible...while these two madmen fight to the death..."

Clint was so mentally exhausted that even his words felt weak.

As Red Moon was about to speak, he suddenly felt a new wave of energy coming from the battlefield.

"Fuck! A level four! The sign of a level four!!!"

"What level four?" asked Clint weakly.

"Blackboard's captain had an unexpected breakthrough during this deathmatch and is now a level four elite!", Red Moon had the urge to blurt out vulgarities.

"He is using a training method called Crouched Eagle Talon which is easy to advance.

I've heard of this training method before, where his increase per level is not huge and can only be considered a below average training method. Its only advantage is that it is easy to level up."

"Does the training method play such an important role?" Clint could barely hold the Mech as he began to slowly walk away from the battlefield.

"It plays a very important role. A Top Inherited training method, such as a one level increase of the Nine Mega Cannon, can allow you to reach a Level Three Mech.

Each Mech is categorized at its standard Level by its worst condition up to the limits that can theoretically be achieved.

The categorization would be set to the standard and this is the most crucial information to be published at the time a Mech is announced," Red Moon quickly explained.

"On the other hand, the difference in training methods will be shown when using a Mech of the same Level.

Your Nine Mega Cannon is currently at Level One, which increases your strength by approximately three levels. On the other hand, when your opponent uses a typical training method, his typical level increase would increase his strength by one level or a little more. In comparison, there would be a difference of two levels at each level increase, a difference of four levels at two level increases, and if you level up three times, the difference would be six levels.

The more you level up, the more drastic the difference. This is just based on a simple calculation without any change in the factors.

Realistically speaking, the Top Inherited training method would improve in all aspects rather than just one.

The captain manning the Mech should be using the Crouching Eagle Claw. Therefore, a level four increase would equate to a level four power, which was used on the Mech's arm to instantly increase its power. This gives a big boost to his arm hardening, which is the effect of his training method."

"What's with that red and white guy?"

"He should be using a slightly better training method.

Judging by his appearance, he should be a level above average. With one more level, he can increase his speed and power source duration by one level.

This is also the reason why, even if his Mech is eighty to ninety percent damaged, he could still chase it for a long period of time. If it were a typical Mech, it would no longer be operational a long time ago," Red Moon looked at it closely.

"Red-White is a level five pilot, so his augmentation, by rights, should also be level five. However, with the pilot severely injured, the Mech cannot perform to its full potential.

Since he has also depleted his Willpower, his current level is at most level four. On top of all this, his opponent's melee skill is extraordinarily good to the point where he can predict his movements and attack or defend in advance, resulting in the current stalemate situation..."

"Be careful!" She started to shout.

Clint stopped instantly and heard a thud as a huge stone smashed into the wall in front of him like a cannon, sinking the wall. It was a stone that had flown out of the battle raging behind him.

He was so shocked that his body broke out in a cold sweat. With the current state of his Mech, this huge rock would have taken his puny life if not for the Red Moon Protection Field.

"All right, let's move on." ordered Red Moon.

Clint turned his head back to look at the battlefield.

Two Mechs, one black and the other white, became entangled with each other as waves of a powerful energy field and cold air spread out, distorting the environment and the air around them. It was so large that even the waves of light began to distort slightly and he could only see two silhouettes of Mechs fighting each other.

Running at full speed, Clint kept dodging the ambushes of Garen's team of miniature Mechs.

The more he ran, the worse Clint's wounds continued to get.

He started bleeding from all his orifices but he didn't stop running.

Sizzle!!!!

The Mech abruptly stopped moving as it reached an alley.

"It's over." Garen threw the head of the Red-White Mech he was holding to the ground, and it rolled solidly into the side of Clint's Mech.

"The forbidden core." said Garen, holding out his hand.

"Give it to me. You're still a kid and shouldn't be living a life of running away every day. You should be in school enjoying your youth, your friends and your romance.

You shouldn't be running for your life in a filthy sewer."

He tried to use his words to affect Clint's mindset.

He feared Clint would destroy the core out of determination. No one knew if the forbidden core was solid or fragile because no one had ever seen it before. It could have any shape and state.

However, he knew that his opponent was just a child since he didn't cover his voice as he spoke.

"I..." Clint took a step back as the horrible battle between the Black Mech and the Red-White Mech kept replaying in his mind. The opposing group had managed to win against the Red-White Mech and he knew he couldn't defend against it.

Garen's Mech moved toward him slowly as the pressure in Clint's mind grew to the point where he began to tremble.

"Your heart is severely damaged. You will die in two hours if you don't accept any treatment," Garen applied more mental pressure to his opponent.

He could clearly feel the opponent's hidden heart with his extremely strong senses.

Clint was on the verge of tears.... It wasn't that he didn't want to hand it over to him, it was that he would also die if he handed it over.

"Between death and your treasure, you're still confused about which is more important? Perhaps the forbidden core had formed a connection with you to the point that you couldn't hand it over to me?" guessed Garen calmly.

Clint shuddered as Garen was able to come to a logical conclusion that was closer to the truth just by observing his actions.

"Is this the strength of a level four and level five pilot?" he was traumatized.

Boom!!!

In the midst of the loud explosion, Garen lunged at him and hit Clint's cockpit from the left, sending the Mech flying.

The Mech crashed into the side wall. Garen followed close behind and stomped on Clint's chest with his foot. He then raised his machete high as the tip of the blade glowed.

His action was so fast that Clint had not been able to react in time. He was still in a shocked state of mind and, on top of that, his body was so badly wounded that he had no energy left to evade it. He could only say that his vision had immediately become cloudy and the sky had begun to spin. The next thing he knew, he was already on the ground and the machete he held aloft was about to pierce him.

His mind was completely blank as he stared at the sharp edge of the knife.

"Brother! No!!!"

At that precise moment, a familiar voice shouted at Garen from beside him.

However, the blade had already pierced the cabin.

Blood flowed slowly from the cracks in the cockpit.

An assembled black robot entered the alley and appeared next to Garen. The cockpit cover slowly opened and revealed an elegant girl sitting inside.

Garen looked over. Though he was sure he had heard his brother's voice.

He moved his lips as he looked at the elegant girl whose face was streaked with tears. Although her hair was black and she had a pair of almond-shaped eyes and small lips with a pale skin tone, the state of mind was clearly....

"Brother..." hysterically cried the woman as she screamed.

Garen pondered for a while as he finally managed to unite the beautiful girl in front of him and the man he remembered in his memory.

"You...you're Lon!"

Baylon bit his lips as he nodded his head.

"Clint, he's my friend..." for the first time, he dared to look Nono in the eye. She had never dared to look her brother in the eyes since she was little.

However, this time might be the only time in her entire life that she had ever done so. Maybe it was the training method that had changed her, or maybe it was because she was worried about Clint.

Even Garen didn't know what to do in this situation.

Clint's Mech made a noise as it rolled after pulling out his sword.

He rolled to the other side of the wall and leaned against it as Clint gasped noisily inside the cabin.

His left thumb had been severed and his left leg was almost completely severed by the machete. He was very lucky that Red Moon had twisted the machete's trajectory with his manipulation field at the last second. If he had not, he would surely have died from this attack.

However, every sacrifice came at a price. Red Moon had drained himself of every last bit of his energy and had fallen into a coma.

"It's lucky I called Lon here. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Lon's willpower is better for healing wounds.... I'll need about ten days to replenish my energy, so if you have nothing to do, go sunbathe or something..." Red Moon said goodbye with her last words as she slipped into a comatose state.

Garen was still looking at Baylon as she struggled.

Baylon lifted Clint immediately as he looked at Garen sadly.

He then carried him with him and disappeared into the sewer entrance with his face covered in tears.

Garen waved the machete in his hand, but did not pursue them any further. The Mech standing motionless in the shadows looked like a sculpture.

Then, a Black Mech landed right next to Garen.

"Captain! You're just going to let them go just like that? Even if it's your sister, you..."

Clank!!!! Buzz...!!!!!!!!

Garen immediately cut the Black Mech in half.

BOOM!!!

The Black Mech immediately exploded and turned into a fireball.

The fire bathed Garen's robot in red light as he put away his sword. He looked in the direction Baylon had gone and walked away in the opposite direction.
