In a hospital room a young man with bandages all over his body suddenly woke up.
He tried to get up but found he couldn't move a muscle.
"Looks like you're awake."
A muscular man sitting next to him was the one who spoke but the young man couldn't even turn his head to see the person speaking to him.
The man noticed the situation and stood up to get into the young man's range of vision.
"How does it feel?"
The young man tried to open his mouth to respond but couldn't even do that.
"You can't even speak?" the man said with a look of disappointment.
"The doctor's diagnosis says that the nerves throughout your body were severely injured and your muscles cramped. They could only force you to relax by injecting you with a tranquilizer."
The young man began to utter some unintelligible mumbles before he heard a girl's voice speaking to him.
"Big brother Nono, are you all right?"
The instructor quickly used his hands to turn the young man's face slightly to the side before he could see the situation to his left.
A group of four young men stood to one side of the room.
One of them, a red-haired young woman looking at him with concern in her eyes was the one who spoke.
A confused look appeared in the young man's eyes for a moment before returning to his normal gaze.
"He can't speak. He has nerve damage and now it's going to be very troublesome to heal him." Said the instructor quietly from the side.
"Did the doctor mention the cause of this?". Lisa, the red haired young woman asked.
"He doesn't know," the instructor shook his head.
The young man lying on the bed just listened to the duo talk as the look in his eyes steadily went from confused to clear.
After a while, the instructor excused himself and left.
A while later, two of the young men also left, leaving only Lisa and another young man who quickly got bored and started chatting.
The young man, who could not move, sighed in his heart and lamented his current situation.
The young man's current name was Nonosiva Lin, a freshman at the Mech Academy.
He was originally not from this world, his original name was Garen and he had just transmigrated to this world.
He was the protagonist of this novel and this was his fourth transmigration.
Although transmigration was something he had already experienced multiple times, this time he was really unlucky.
He possessed the body of the young Nonosiva josto at the critical moment of a battle between Mechas, causing him to lose focus for a moment, which made him unable to dodge his opponent's direct hit, causing him to be so severely injured.
As he thought about all this, the young man saw a blue portal suddenly open before a handsome young man with black hair that reached his back dressed in a black oriental robe stepped out of it.
The young man gave a stark contrast as although his clothing was oriental looking, his face was that of a westerner.
Garen's eyes widened and he began to fear for his life. The man in front of him made his senses, developed after centuries of experience, scream for him to run away.
With his current situation, he could do nothing to defend himself.
Noah looked at the three young men inside the hospital room before focusing on the girl and placing his hand on her head, reading her memories of the world, her language and everything he needed to know to identify what world she was in.
"So I'm in Mystical Journey, I didn't think I'd end up in this novel...if this is the Mech world and that young man lying on the bed is Nonosiva Lin then..."
Noah thought deeply for a while before snapping his fingers, causing the two young men to go into a deep sleep and forget what they saw a moment ago.
"Well, how about we start negotiating, Mr. Garen?"
Garen's eyes widened until they looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets.
"How do you know my name? Does it have any relation to the void creatures?"
Noah snapped his fingers, pulling Garen's soul out of his body and into the Soul Battle hall.
Garen looked around before focusing on Noah.
"Before you try to attack, keep in mind that with only your two soul seeds it would be impossible for you to kill me."
The cultivation method Garen practiced was soul seed cultivation.
A way of cultivation developed by the Endor civilization, an ancient civilization whose members were dedicated to transmigrate to different worlds of this multiverse to learn their knowledge, from which they could create a secret technique with that knowledge as a base and that once mastered to the maximum, would condense a soul seed that could replicate some of the powers they studied in those worlds.
Once one condensed three soul seeds, they could fuse them into a soul ring.
The more soul rings one has, the more powerful one could become.
Noah coveted such a cultivation method, so he wanted to negotiate with Garen to deliver it directly to him.
As for killing him and searching his soul, he wouldn't do that.
He did not want this world to deviate from its original course of action.
But more importantly, there would be no benefit in killing him and Noah wasn't someone who would simply kill for pleasure.
"I guess since you haven't killed me, that means you want something from me."
"That's right, as you may have guessed, I'm somewhat similar to you, a traveler between worlds, it's just that I don't use transmigration.
What I want is something quite simple for you to bestow upon me, I want all your knowledge and understanding about the demonic book of the holy phoenix and the book of the frozen peacock.
In return, I can heal your wounds and give you this."
Noah threw the other party an orb of light with the introduction to some of the soul techniques both offensive and defensive that he collected from the Tong Xuan realm.
"You should make a decision quickly, the parents of your current body just entered the hospital."
Garen looked at the various techniques and did not hesitate to accept.
Noah showed him the method to condense an orb that contained all his knowledge about the two techniques before exchanging it for the orb containing the soul techniques.
"Take your time to understand these techniques, who knows, you might even be able to condense a soul seed thanks to this."
Noah deactivated the soul Battle hall before taking out a low grade pill.
"With this pill, in maximum one week you will be fully cured.
You also don't have to worry about the rejection of your body and soul, I just fixed that.
The only problem you have to face is how to explain to the doctors about your sudden cure."
Garen opened his eyes in surprise and felt his body.
Indeed, his soul no longer felt any rejection from his body.
Snapping his fingers, Noah opened a spatial tear that took him right behind the family of Garen's current body.
Pinning his eyes on the thirteen or fourteen year old boy in the group, he cast a tracking spell on him before opening another spatial tear.
Garen swallowed the pill Noah had placed in his mouth and immediately felt it begin to heal his body.
"That guy... He's really weird.
He seemed to know about me, so why didn't he kill me and steal my secret techniques directly?"
While he was lost in thought, the door opened and the parents of the original owner of this body walked through the door.
...
Inside a meeting room, a group of instructors gathered at a round table and began to discuss some of the most pressing issues.
This was an independent council within the academy's Mechs Royal Combat Department.
The department was one of ten organizations responsible for matters related to actual combat.
Despite being a grassroots council, it had the ultimate power to decide the funds allocated.
"Nonosiva? After testing the Mechs, we determined that it was definitely not an accident caused by a Mech malfunction. There were also no problems when we assessed the site. So we shouldn't take responsibility," nodded a middle-aged woman with glasses on the side.
"I don't think that's right," said the Garen Instructor, whose name was Hamm, as he frowned.
"According to academy-wide rules, medical expenses for injuries sustained during the curriculum are to be borne by the academic departments. This student should definitely already have basic insurance after paying school fees for so many years."
"However, our department is now facing financial problems. Take a look at what's written here.... Nerve Restoration Operation," the Chief Instructor picked up a piece of paper and frowned as he flipped through the information.
"The cost of this operation is not insignificant. If we pay the full amount, it may affect this year's performance bonuses..."
"The Chief Instructor is right."
"We should not be responsible for providing that sum of money in any way. He is right, we don't have to compensate him."
"I am in favor of the Chief Instructor's suggestion."
Everyone sitting there was an instructor in this department. They were the senior faculty of the academy and had obviously voiced their opinion immediately when they learned that their benefits would be affected.
Instructor Hamm's expression turned somewhat unpleasant.
"But that's not right. You shouldn't openly go against the general rules of the academy..."
"The people are alive, but the rules aren't. The rules are just a piece of paper if we don't have the financial resources.
Not only are we difficult, but we simply don't have that ability," the deputy director of instructors said helplessly as he shrugged his shoulders.
"That's right, we can't affect the lives of everyone sitting here just because of one of the students in your class. Isn't that right, Instructor Hamm?" said someone else in a dissatisfied tone.
Hamm scanned his surroundings before his gaze finally settled on the face of Chief Instructor Dylan.
"He was injured during a class test. Don't tell me the academy really plans to release him and let things run their course without any worries? Won't this make the other students in the school feel afraid?" he said aloud.
Lead instructor Dylan furrowed his brow slightly.
"Hamm, you must remember that this is Blackboard Academy. fear? What is there to be afraid of? People need to sharpen their minds to come here and those who are afraid will simply die when they go out into the world. Survival of the fittest and natural selection were the most important rules and school codes of the academy originally."
"I disagree with your views!" said Hamm in an even louder tone.
"When we signed the contract to join the academy, we already agreed to be responsible for these students to a certain extent. Once the academy students find out that we can't even guarantee their basic safety, the consequences will be unimaginable!" he tried to persuade the Chief Instructor again.
"All right, enough is enough. The funds allocated for this incident have been decided," Chief Instructor Dylan raised his hand and exchanged glances with some of the other instructors who were representatives of the council.
"Chief instructor!" Hamm suddenly stood up.
"Don't lose your breath" Dylan looked at him casually.
"The second point is written below. Instructions have been sent from superiors.
Recently, there were wanted criminals who may have passed through the Federation. Everyone is to go back and tell the students to be more careful when they go out. Tell them not to visit dangerous places frequently. As for matters related to a new eastern branch of the academy to be built, the above plans can be brought up now..."
Fury began to burn in Hamm's mind.
He looked around and noticed that the few instructors who were once close to him now avoided his gaze. Suddenly, a tremor ran through his mind.
"Good! All right!"
He suppressed his inner fury before turning and walking away.
