"Hi, Mom. I'm still at work. I'll come for a visit in the evening, alright?" Winter said as the call was connected. 

Usually, her elderly mother called because she wondered when Winter would visit. At first, it was a little troublesome having such a clingy mother.

But Winter knew her mother was old, and they could sometimes feel lonely.

'Besides, it's better to have her being clingy than dead…' Winter thought, reminiscing Gina's fate in her previous life. 

"I don't think you should come today, Winter…"

Winter tensed immediately, worried she might've done something wrong or maybe… Cindy had said something to upset her mother. 

"Why not, Mom? I thought I already told you I'd come more often, right?"

"Yes, but Cindy…" Gina sighed. It was difficult to utter anything because she felt Cindy had unjustly accused Winter. 

"Oh—" Winter paused for a moment and said, "Don't believe whatever she says, Mom. She's lying."
