Ethan sat at the edge of the bed as he began to button his shirt. Still sleeping on the bed beside him was Erica, a smile on her face with the silk bed sheets covered tightly on her skin.
"That was wonderful Ethan… for a sixteen year old, that's more than impressive." Erica complimented, gripping the sheets in a shy manner as if urging Ethan to join her again.
Firstly, Ethan looked outside the window and noticed it felt like the sun was almost coming back up- and then he sighed.
"Where are you hiding them?" He suddenly asked. The cold gaze on his face as he looked at Erica completely shattered everything they had done previously.
"Hiding who? What are you talking about?" Erica replied.
Standing to his feet, Ethan slowly walked towards the door. Without saying a word, he thrust his hand into the wall, creating a large, gaping hole where his fist penetrated.
Erica's eyes widened with fear at the unexpected act, but her terror intensified when Ethan withdrew his hand.
Gripping the neck of a man dressed in black, Ethan yanked him through the wall, causing debris to scatter as the wall crumbled further.
"Hey there, haven't you heard a thing or two about privacy." Ethan said with a somewhat sadistic grin while the spy in question struggled to free himself from being choked to death.
"You had a spy set in place… perhaps to knock me out? See, I knew something was fishy from the moment I arrived in this town…" Ethan began, "First, I could sense the energy of demons all around here, and I assumed you all were free and friendly with demons".
He then slowly looked at Erica, who seemed to already have a serious look on her face, trying to decide whether to help her follower, or try to look innocent in front of the man she loves.
"But I was wrong, our conversation just now proves it, this isn't something new, it's something that has been happening for a while. But the question is what? What do you do with the demons you keep here?" Ethan asked.
At first, Erica looked to the side, a sad look on his face as she replied, "I'm sorry… but… I can't tell you".
"I see…" Ethan sighed… and then-
Like a bug, he crushed the neck of the man in his hands. The man's head exploded, blood sprayed everywhere including Ethan's face.
With that settled, Ethan tossed the headless body to the side and moved towards Erica who was in shock from what she had just witnessed.
"Listen to me, Erica. You and I, we can be so much more. We only just met today and we already have such a deep connection." Ethan settled on the bed, taking her hands in his. "But, I'm sorry. I'll have to leave if you keep secrets from me. I can't love someone who doesn't trust me; it just doesn't seem right."
Erica, now heavily conflicted by her love for Ethan, smiled weakly as she looked at him and uttered, "I am a really bad person."
Ethan patiently listened, his gaze unwavering.
"My family, or at least the family I built, follows the wills of a secret organization. We were never told the name; all we knew was we were supposed to deliver demons to them, and then we get paid."
"Deliver demons?" Ethan clarified.
"Yes. My son goes out to search for demons in the lost land, there we find some who are almost dead, or abandoned, and he brings them back for treatment, some of which are rare breeds, in which case, he runs his experiments on them." Erica kept going, her words resonating inside Ethan's head.
"After we deliver the demons to the ship headed to North lane, we get our payment from an anonymous guy. But we are also allowed to keep 30% of the demons we get. So we trade them to the members of this town for a low price".
"You traded… my demons?" Ethan's eyes bagah to glow even though his demeanor still seemed calm.
"Yes, every demon we've ever captured has either been sold to the villagers, or given out to the secret organization, nothing is being hidden, I swear. Erica held Ethan's hand even tighter as she leaned forward.
"Is that so?".
"I promise, for you, I can get you everything. Do you want some demon slaves? I can get you as many as you want from the lost lands. All for you my love." Erica poured out.
But Ethan on the other hand, had his eyes closed as if trying to suppress the growing anger he was feeling.
"I am willing to ignore all of this, just based on the fact that you might have had no choice. So let me ask you, are you willing to release the demons in your custody to me?" Ethan asked.
A disappeared expression instantly hitched on her face as she replied, "Every demon owner went through a slave ritual with their demons ro avoid betrayal from them. I'm afraid there's no way to break it".
"Oh, there is a way…"
Ethan slipped his hands from her grasp and stood up from the bed, before looking down at her with his red cold glowing eyes.
"Death." He uttered out loud. "I'm keeping you alive for now, because I need your knowledge later. Stay in this room and don't move an inch. If you disobey me, I won't hesitate to kill you on the spot".
As soon as he said those words, Ethan walked out of the room, his expression dead as if he had become a different person.
Once he got outside, the first thing he saw were two men dressed in black walking up the stairs.
"Oi! Ain't you the new visitor lady Erica let in?" One of them said with a smile as he approached Ethan.
"How have you enjoyed your stay? The sun is almost up, didn't Lian say something about you leaving today?" The second one added. Now both were standing in front of Ethan.
They noticed Ethan wasn't giving them any response. So one of them decided to take the initiative.
"Are you okay man? You don't seem-"
Before he could finish his words, Ethan opened a small magic circle to his left, and out came a white laser that left a hole in the body of the man.
He dropped dead, rolling down the stairs with blood following his trials. The second one beside him, immediately went into panic and wanted to scream.
But even he was too slow as his head was sliced off his shoulder, meeting the same fate as his partner.
And with a almost stoic expression, Ethan voiced out-
"I should have done this from the very start. I'll kill every single one of you… down to the last one".
