Chapter 143 – Brains and Fists
Thor hid among the many spirits, pretending that he was part of the chaos.
Just watching Byron coax the evil spirits the entire time he was around made him ripple inside again.
When did Senior Byron become so good at acting too?
Where was that straight to simple senior back then?
Was the world outside the tower so complicated?
The emotions that rose and fell within Saul didn't affect his mobility as he hid behind a chaotic conscious soul and followed the latter towards the center circle.
Most of the spirits around the circle were moving around in such a muddled manner, following their instincts only because of a last-ditch desire to survive, and heading towards Morton in the center of the circle.
Their remaining consciousness told them that they had to kill Morton or they would be gone forever.
Saul watched these unconscious souls struggle to mobilize their limbs to run, one by one howling and pouncing on Morton, feeling as if he was in an apocalyptic zombie blockbuster.
Unfortunately, he was one of them.
While running, Saul found a few familiar figures among the spirits.
At the front of the pack was Herman, his face full of rage, his limbs twisted, and he was about to rush in front of Morton.
It was just that Morton was still absorbing the soul fragments flying in the air and did not put the others in his eyes.
Saul saw Bill again in the mass of souls.
Perhaps newly dead or perhaps his spirit body was stronger, Bill seemed more awake than the other spirits.
Even, like Saul, he was secretly looking around.
Such lucid sanity lasted until Bill suddenly turned his head and locked eyes with Saul on.
There were a lot of souls around here, but it wasn't dense, and Saul had nowhere to hide.
In the next second, Bill, who was still calculating and calmly observing, suddenly lost control. He howled like a wild animal, surprisingly giving up on approaching the center, crossing the circular platform and running towards Saul.
His eyes were glaring round, and the corners of his mouth were twitching, bringing the muscles of his cheeks to tremble together.
This powerful third level apprentice crashed through the others blocking him along the way and quickly rushed to Sol.
Saul also didn't expect that Bill's hatred for himself exceeded the evil spirit that killed him!
"It's obvious that you started it, but you're acting like a victim!"
Despite the sudden surprise, seeing that Bill had raised his hands high, Saul had no intention of being polite.
Within this space of consciousness, there was no sorcery, no magic, and all spirits could only rely on their own spiritual power to fight.
In turn, this spell formations anthropomorphized their spiritual power into physical attacks in the world of consciousness.
That is to say, punches on the spiritual level.
Bill used the momentum of the punch to punch straight.
However, Saul, who had a clear consciousness and a quick mind, easily dodged it with a twist.
Bill missed and swung again.
But once again, Saul dodged it.
After two short exchanges, Saul immediately understood the rules of combat here.
"Bill is a third level apprentice, and his mental body is also very powerful, which translates into a lot of power in his fists here. But he was devoured by Morton, and his self-consciousness has begun to be confused. This agitation adds to the madness, so he makes straight moves, but not fast."
"But I'm different!"
"I have a clear consciousness and have not suffered any damage. That's why in my eyes, the others move as slow as children."
In thought, Saul once again dodged Bill's headbutt and took advantage of his opponent's stagger to pull away for a distance.
He looked down at his hands and clenched them into fists.
It was obviously the same hands, but they seemed to be full of power.
"Lord Golza has always said that my mental power talent is high, and even secretly taught me for that reason. But I never really understood just how high my mental power talent was."
Thor looked up as Bill had caught up again, hissing and attacking. "Now let me get a good look at it."
Saul swung his first punch!
No gimmicks, no dodging, the same straight forward punch.
This punch accelerated violently in mid-air, clearly a space of consciousness without any air, but it produced a whistling sound that broke through the air.
Saul slammed his fist into Bill's and then, immediately, crushed his opponent's fist. The attack continued, the shadow of the fist grazed Bill's arm, the wind of the fist sliced through Bill's muscles, and finally struck Bill's chin hard!
Boom…
Bill's entire body flew out.
His head twisted 180 degrees to his back, and along with it, his neck and shoulders were torn apart.
After knocking over two unlucky spirits, he fell heavily onto the round platform!
It was just a pity that the battle between the souls was less exciting without the scenes of blood and flesh.
"I'm really strong!"
Sol was happy at first, but his face quickly became heavy again.
He looked over to Morton, who had already gone up against a multitude of souls, and saw that he had easily knocked the charging Herman away.
"Even though I'm already this strong in this space of consciousness, Diary still thinks that I don't have a good chance of winning against Morton."
Instead of launching another attack, Saul took three steps to Bill's side and flipped the man over with one hand.
The left side of Bill's face went down in a noticeable chunk, his chin and the corner of his mouth sunk in like a dented ping pong ball.
"So souls get deformed when they get hit?"
Bill's eyes flashed with awe when he saw Saul's face, but it was quickly replaced by madness and anger.
"Is it true that the more traumatized you are, the less clear your consciousness becomes?"
Bill still tried to attack Saul, but he forgot that his head had been turned to his back, and the few times he swung his fist out, it only hit the ground.
Saul stomped on Bill's back and broke his hands violently, directly twisting Bill's head upright.
Bill, who had his head back in place, did not appreciate it and tried to attack Saul, but Saul pressed down on his opponent's hands so that he could not move, and also turned Bill's face to the center.
"See that man? Kill him and you'll be resurrected."
Bill, who was still struggling, stopped in place.
Saul stood behind him, lowered his voice, and tilted his head compellingly, "Don't let anger control you, Bill, is killing an insignificant second level apprentice more important than your resurrection?"
Before seeing Saul, Bill seemed to retain his sanity, then his sanity was not completely gone.
Saul wanted him to break free from his anger and return to the survival instinct of his soul.
At the same time, he hides behind Bill again as he speaks, so that Bill does not fall back into his insane rage as soon as he sees him.
As he expected, Bill heard him and looked again at the evil spirit in the center of the dome, reliving the fact of his death.
Only by defeating the evil spirit and becoming the master of this space could he continue to survive, even if it was in the form of the evil spirit!
Bill roared again and charged.
"Although my fists are hard, wizards really should fight with their brains more often." Thor felt a great sense of relief and struck both fists in front of his chest.
However Bill was quickly knocked out of the air after charging up.
He landed on his head, having survived two injuries from Saul and the evil spirit, and when he got up from the ground again, his head drooped directly onto his shoulders and fell off as he ran.
Saul looked at the battlefield in front of him like a farce and shook his head helplessly.
"It's true that Bill and Herman can interfere with Morton, but their usefulness is limited. The only one here who can truly threaten Morton is me."
"I haven't fought since I became an apprentice. No, it's since graduation that I haven't fought in a long time."
Saul moved his arms and legs, "I'm sure I still need to beat the hell out of him!"
