Chapter 14 - 1,000,000 Yoli

The next day felt like a rush compared to the slog that was yesterday.

I woke up took care of any chores that I hadn't done before, and made my way through the normal jobs I did online.

I can only recall it as a blur because of how uneventful it was, but I could remember feeling something unsettling throughout the peaceful day.

Nothing showed itself, so I didn't encounter the origin of the strange feeling, but its presence never disappeared.

I felt paranoid because I searched around my house for what felt like an eternity, but I just couldn't settle down.

I double checked every room, and moved all the furniture at least once, but that wasn't saying a lot because of how bland my house was.

To make sure that I wasn't going to go insane, and to give myself some sense of assurance, I reviewed the footage of the entire night at 1.5x speed.

I spent a total of 5 hours reviewing security camera footage.

I didn't do it all at once, but whenever I couldn't focus on work, I watched the footage for 10-minutes.

Surprisingly, this strategy worked wonders, and I could get work done for short bursts.

I also checked the applications I had sent to see if they'd been rejected, but I hadn't received any response from any of the Academies.

This routine wasn't a one time thing though.

It continued for five days.

On the fifth day, I was going insane from this unnerving feeling that I had felt crawling up my back.

I had even asked the system what was going on, but it didn't provide any helpful information, so I assumed it wasn't negative, or it wasn't life threatening.

I kept the schedule up until the afternoon, and then I was interrupted by a knock on the door.

It had been a while since I had ordered something, or somebody came to visit, so I didn't hear it, but when they rang the doorbell the delicate chime tickled my ears.

I heard the sound, but couldn't remember what it was for, so I got out of my chair to look for it.

What the hell is that sound? Did I hallucinate it? I wondered as I got out of my chair, and marched towards the direction I heard it, I think it came from the hall?

Carefully, I creeped down the hall like I was hunting something.

I was careful with every bit of force I put onto my floor's creaky boards as to keep my stealth intact.

As I turned a corner into the main room, the sound played again.

When it played, I nearly jumped, but I swiveled my head towards the direction it came from, and found myself looking at the door.

I continued creeping my way toward the door, but nothing strange was standing out to me, so I took a look through my cameras to see if something was outside.

To my surprise, there were the three girls just standing outside, and Kari had been pushing a button on the side of the door.

Oh that's the doorbell, I groaned in frustration, How the heck did I forget that I own a doorbell.

Just how far have I fallen, I questioned myself as I started to roll back on the floor because of my stupidity.

It had been a long time since I had ordered anything that wasn't delivered by drone, but that wasn't an excuse.

The fact that I had been such a shut in, as to forget what my doorbell sounded like was beyond wrong.

Then the doorbell rang again, and I was taken out of my fervor.

There were still 3 annoying pests at my door.

How do I deal with them now, I thought, do I let them in, or do I have them leave.

There is no reason to let them in, I quickly concluded.

They had already barged into my house without any reason.

They also followed me to my house, entered without any permission, and caused chaos the first chance they had gotten, I recalled.

But there was another thing to think about, Why are they even here?

I took another look at them, but it was just the three of them out there.

They didn't seem to be holding anything, or if they were, it wasn't shown through the front camera.

I took a look from the side cameras, and the back cameras.

There was nothing abnormal about them.

Why are they even here, I wondered, and I started to consider all the possibilities.

They could only be here for advice for Academies, but all the application periods had ended, so what other thing could they be here for, I pondered.

I ruled out another possibility, They couldn't be here because of the infection, and even then it shouldn't be traced back to me.

I left literally no clues to me because there was no way to know I had infected them, and I had made sure there was no way to catch me tampering with the vent, I concluded.

Their appearance here just makes no sense, I groaned inside for the second time within a minute.

The doorbell rang once again, but when I checked the cameras they were still waiting there patiently.

"Why do they have to be here," I grumbled as I got off the ground.

After getting off of the ground, I opened the door just a crack.

"What do you want?" I asked the three pesky girls at my front door.

Kari, was about to press the doorbell, and as she moved to press it again, I slapped her hand away.

I looked at her with a confused face, "What the heck is wrong with you? I am literally right here."

She looked at me with a pained face and whined, "The chime sounds nice."

I raised my eyebrow, "What the hell does that have to do with you pressing the doorbell? Did you just come to press that, or did you three have something else that you needed?"

Kari quickly regained her composure, and Ariel started to speak up, "Yes, we had something to speak about with you."

"We wanted to apologize for just waltzing into your house without permission, and chasing you through the school when you had something else that needed to be done," she solemnly said.

"I wasn't trying to scare you when I blasted the party popper," Kari explained, "I was just trying to celebrate with you because all of your applications went through."

"We were all scared when it hadn't uploaded, so when it did we were all happy for you," Juliana spoke up.

"Is that it?" I warily asked the three fiends.

"No that isn't," Ariel replied, "We would like to do something to make amends, and we decided that cleaning your house would be an appropriate way to do that."

"No," I quickly replied.

"You may do something to make amends, but it will not be inside of this house," I sternly said.

Why would you think that cleaning up an already clean house would be a good way to make amends? I thought, You're just trying to get in my house at this point.

I may have let my room fall into something less than perfection, but I made sure that everywhere else was deep cleaned at least once a week.

The last time they barged in was the day after I had cleaned it, and I hadn't left my room and used anything since they had scared me.

Ariel looked a little sad, "If that wouldn't satisfy you, what would you like from us?"

I'd really like for you to leave, I thought as I stared her in the eyes.

"What can you three even do?" I asked them.

The three stared at me for a quick second.

"We can buy anything under 1,000,000 Yoli," Juliana said while Ariel looked away.

"If you can do that can you just send it to me through the pulsewave?" I asked the seemingly stupid girl.

"Sure, I could do that, but we'll need your signiture again because of how big the transfer is," she said with confidence.

"Okay, I can do that," I said as I turned to go get my pulsewave, "You can go inside, but if I don't see all three of you at that table sitting peacefully, or getting the transfer ready, you can guess what will happen."

I quickly flashed a smile, and opened the door wide enough to let them in one by one.

After they were in, I shut the door, locked it, and went to go grab one of my pulsewaves.

It was an old model, but it would work for this purpose.

I opened all the drawers that I remembered stashing it it, but I couldn't find it.

Shoot, I need that million Yoli, I thought while I searched like a madman around my room.

After turning my room into a genuine garbage heap I found the old machine.

I quickly wiped it off and went back to the dining room.

Inside of the bland room, the three girls were sitting in the seats that I had been two lazy to move from their last visit.

I took a seat across from them, and sent over my signature to Juliana.

She was already prepared for her side of the transaction, and swiftly signed the mandatory warning notices for these transactions.

When she finished signing what seemed like a books worth of pages, I had my own turn of document signing.

My stack of digital documents were less than hers, but it still took over ten-minutes to get through them all.

It didn't help that Kari and Ariel were fidgeting around in their seats like someone had placed some vibrator inside them.

Despite the constant distraction, I got through every document and had found no issue with any of them.

I signed all of them and a pop-up appeared that said the Yoli would be in my account within thirty-hours.

Juliana's pulsewave also had a pop-up appear, but she just swiped it away.

She looked at me and opened her mouth.

"Do you mind if we come over every now and then?" she asked with a hopeful glint in her eyes.

What th- Huh? I thought as I stared at those hopeful eyes, There shouldn't be any problem because with this payment I have secured the funds for an apartment, or house by any Academy I applied to.

I'll be gone in less than a week, and what could they do in a week? I thought in amusement, I could maybe even get more money.

My slight frown turned into a smirk, and I said, "Sure, you can come over every now and then, but if you make a singular mess, I will take action to make you regret it."
