I knew I wasn't ready to get married, but that didn't mean I didn't want to be with him. The thought of losing him over this made my heart ache.

Hours seemed to stretch into an eternity until I heard the familiar rumble of Keegan's truck engine approaching. My palms grew clammy with anticipation. The sound of his knock echoed through the apartment, a thunderous reminder of the conversation that lay ahead. My hands trembled as I reached for the door handle. "You can do this, Wren," I whispered to myself, summoning every ounce of courage.
