The battle raged on, the fight was a whirlwind of steel and fur, the air filled with the clang of blades and the guttural snarls of the beasts, a dance of life and death under the watchful eyes of the dead, dark trees.
Brittany fought with the ferocity of a cornered tigress, her sword, a blur of silver against the darkness, finding its mark time and time again. As she fought with her sword, her strength, and sharp ears coming in handy as the beasts fought with their claws.
She jumped and crawled onto one, burying her sword in its head before moving to the other.
Her movements imbued with anger and grace, the forest floor began litter with the carcasses of the beast" Aargh!", the beast growled as she silted its neck, the beast's death throes sent a tremor through the earth, its claws raked across her arm ripping through her cloak, in a final, desperate swipe.
The sudden pain ignited a fire within her, a primal rage pulsed through her veins. " Is this the way you killed my mother? I'll have your carcasses litter before me today!" she screamed.
Her hazel eyes flared, transforming into molten gold, it burned with an intensity that rivalled the inferno raging within her soul. The hood of her cloak flew back, her silver hair, shimmering like moonlight, crackled with an ethereal power, casting an eerie glow upon the dark forest.
A wicked smirk slowly curled up her lips, like she had become someone else, a murderous aura blasted from her being and the air hung heavy with bloodlust.
The beasts were momentarily startled, perceiving their lunch had somehow gained supernal powers, the chill in the air made their hair stand, and they subconsciously trembled.
Their black as demon's eyes focused on a person, Brittany, and with a sickening growl, they begin to launch at her again.
With a renewed ferocity, she started to brutally tear through the remaining beasts, her movements a blur of silver and gold.
Two beasts… then three … then seven… fifteen, they were not spared of death sentences from her blind sword. She moved in a blear, wild, ferocious, and dangerous like a snow leopard in the snow, they couldn't predict her movements.
Her eyes were lifeless, filled with a single intention - kill!
She killed and killed as the beasts kept dropping without any sense of life.
As she buried her sword in one of the beast's chest, it claws raked across her face, leaving a searing trail of pain, drawing a crimson line down her cheek.
Her vision blurred, the golden glow began fading back to the familiar hazel of her eyes as the venom from the beast claw racked through her body.
The bloodlust that had fuelled her, the aura that had made her a whirlwind of destruction, receded, leaving her feeling vulnerable and exposed.
With a strong kick, the beast flung towards a tree, dead. She stumbled back, dizziness washing over her, but the relentless tide of beasts offered no respite.
Another charged, it eyes gleaming with predatory hunger. She barely had the strength to raise her sword, her movements sluggish, her spirit waning, the venom was beginning to eat her strength.
The fight had taken its toll. Her breath begin to come in ragged gasps, her body trembling with exhaustion. She stood panting, her body bruised and battered, her cloak torn and bloodied.
Just as the beast lunged, she knew she was doomed, she barely had any strength left. She was nothing but a damsel in distress at that moment.
She drew her hood over her head, shut her eyes and awaited the pain.
She didn't want to surrender, she didn't! These beasts killed her mother, she had been through a lot over these past three days, could this really be her end? It shouldn't, it can't be.
A deafening clang reached her ears and her eyes snapped open, a searing ember sword materialized above her head, deflecting the blow. The beast's long nails were just an itch from her eyeballs
She looked up, her hazel eyes widening in surprise as her gaze followed the trajectory of the blade, it landed on a masked figure standing beside her. A teen just like her, cloaked in shadows, raised his long leg in a swift kick, sending the beast crashing into its companions.
Then, in one smooth motion, his free arm went around her waist, and they were suspended in the air for a while before landing onto a nearby tree branch.
