The strong arm left her waist and the figure jumped down, landing on a beast's head. The beast's head flattened on the ground as its brain and eyes popped out, disgustingly.
Sending shivers down Brittany's spine, his voice a low rumble, cold and deadly as the devil's horn, calmly said to the beasts, "Leave or die" his tone of his voice was scarier than the monsters.
Snarling and hissing, they charged at the figure. He was clad in black cloak, wielding a mysterious gleaming ember sword, the mysterious stranger moved with lightning speed.
His mask concealed his features, but his eyes burned with an intensity that sent shivers down the creatures' spines, an evil smirk played on his thin lips.
With each swing of his blade, he felled one of the attackers, his movements a symphony of deadly grace.
Fear gripped Brittany who was watching, and she couldn't help feeling sorry for the beasts.
She had watched her brothers fight beasts, but it wasn't as brute as this, watching it gave her the creeps, and she had lost count of how many the figure had killed.
He moved like a lethal shadow, beasts dropped dead wherever he went. As one creature lay vanquished before him, the stranger turned to her and Brittany let out a sharp gasp.
Picking her sword from the ground, he threw it in her direction… it would have been nice if he tossed it, but he threw it like he was aiming for her.
Brittany buried her head in her palms, unwillingly to look death in the eye. " Ugh!" a rough voice from behind rang in her ears, she opened her eyes and saw a beast falling towards the ground with her sword buried in its forehead.
Her heart thumping loudly, her knees gave away as she fell onto the branch, vision spinning, her head buzzing.
The venom was beginning to numb her senses.
Viewing at the scene below, the forest grounds were painted with carcasses of the beast, their reeking, sticky greenish blood soaked the grounds.
The final beast lay vanquished, its lifeless eyes fixed on the sky as the masked figure pulled his sword from its chest.
He then approached the beast that planned to ambush Brittany from behind and plucked her sword from its forehead.
He leaped and landed on the tree branch before Brittany. She quickly scuttled to the tree trunk and rested her back against it, trembling, her head buried between her bent legs, and her arms wrapped around them.
Her heart hammered against her ribs, a disordered frantic rhythm that echoed the pounding in her ears. She remained huddled against the tree, her body a trembling ball of fear and exhaustion.
The masked figure loomed before her, his enigmatic presence both intrigued and terrified her.
His cold sapphire eyes glistened as he peered down at her, but it abruptly disappeared like it was never there.
Despite the danger she had just faced, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that the masked figure evoked.
His movements, swift and slow as he closes in towards her, hinted at a predatory nature since she could guess he was a vampire, and the way he stared at her made her skin crawl, even if she was unable to see it, she felt it.
She was a princess, raised in a world of privilege and sheltered from the harsh realities of the outside world.
This was the first time she had ever been so close to a male, besides her father, brothers, and guards, she had been trained to stay away from strangers, especially the opposite gender.
What had she gotten herself into, crossing the path of a vampire?
