'Maybe a…demon?'
Thinking to myself, I continued to let my power flow to find out more.
If it was really what I thought, Sylvester and I might be in danger.
If so, I couldn't let him alone and might even reveal myself doing so.
I could protect us, but not while pretending to be a freshman without real impactful powers.
And if Sylvester was ever to tell it to someone, more particularly a certain someone, it would cause me a ton of problems.
I didn't need that.
It would be best if I was wrong and that creature was just another beast in its humanoid state.
Or at best, one of the fantastic species: elves, sirens, dragons,…whatever.
'That would be impossible in that kind of weather.' I thought, laughing to myself.
Foremost, those species rarely ever went out of their territory, which was out of the Beroma continent, and so, it would be a miracle to find them in the northern land.
A few minutes later, after nearly depleting my mind limits, I finally found a memory that could be useful to me.
It was one from a few years earlier, when the creature was still in its infant state.
In this one, I could see many other people surrounding him. They were holding a red box -open- which contained a small pearl in it.
Those people were all clothed in grand and formal dresses, whether they were men or women. It looked like a Greek ceremony.
As they advanced, they were singing a strange song in a language I didn't know or understand. It sounded majestic and almighty.
'What is that…?' I thought as I tried to delve deeper into "his" memory.
But before I could see more, something happened.
In a gust of wind, I was propelled backward, collapsing against a tree. For a few seconds, I couldn't get up.
I could hear ringing in my ears and my vision was somewhat blurred.
"What the hell!?"
I got up with some difficulty, my left leg having been strained. It hurt each step I took.
"You motherfu-Aaagg—" I screamed as I turned my ankle, repositioning it in its right place with a sharp jerk.
'It hurts like crazy!'
My feet were red, shaking under my weight. And since I couldn't use healing magic on myself, I had no choice but to endure it.
I gritted my teeth as I brandished my sword, ready to fight.
Now that he had hurt me, I wouldn't show him any mercy.
' Let's see who is the strongest, you bastard!'
Using acceleration, I run towards his position - above the mountains.
I fought against the snowy wind, my breath shaky and cold. I knew that I was at my end of wits.
I had to finish it fast, or I was done for. That was the limit of my powers, as enormous as they were, they needed much more mental energy. And that was why I always used brute force.
I ran past the trees, my shadow remaining behind my fleeting image, and traversed the distance between us in a few seconds breath.
Arriving at the top of the nearest mountain, I settled down, standing up on a huge stone covered with a lid of snow and dark moss.
I darted my eyes around, my five senses on alert.
But because of the pain, I was struggling to not furrow my eyebrows as I tried to preserve a controlled and calm expression.
One of the few useful things my progenitor had taught me was to always keep a poker face and to never underestimate your opponent.
Everybody could be a potential threat.
Activating another spell, I let my magic find him for me as I stretched, preparing myself for combat.
I jumped on the ground, feeling his presence near me. I turned my head to the side before pivoting my body backward, my sword landing directly on its neck.
"Do not move," I uttered threateningly as I pressed the blade a little deeper.
Because he was behind me, I couldn't see him clearly, but I didn't need my sight to kill him. As long as he had a breath or sent, there was no way I couldn't get him.
"What are you?" I asked before doing a flip-back in the air, directly landing behind him.
'Oh! He's quite tall' I thought as I raised my head.
Just as I thought, it was a man. And he has short red hair and horns on his head. He was dressed frugally and didn't look stressed or threatened.
He wasn't afraid of me.
That was a first for someone who felt my amount of power.
"No, better, what are you doing here?"
"Just like you, I am searching for a shelter."
A deep and crackly voice replied to me calmly. The man didn't look back at me as he raised his head to the sky. "The snowstorm didn't stop, I wanted to sleep."
"Then why didn't you reveal your presence? Why did you observe us?"
The man chuckled, seemingly amused. Or maybe irritated, who knows?
"Because I didn't know what way to use. I was still deciding."
"What do you mean? What ways?" I asked with unsureness, not feeling it.
The man looked crazier as time passed. Not that surprising for a demon, that is.
"If I wanted to use the civilized way, cohabiting under the same roof, or the better way, killing you two. Which one should I choose, in your opinion?"
As he talked, he turned back to me- his gaze locking on me.
He was sweetly smiling, as if he hadn't threatened to kill me.
'Demons are really…something else.'
Well, at least, he was honest. And he couldn't be worse than the members of my horrible family.
" I would like to add another way. How about you get lost somewhere else?"
"That would be quite difficult, miss. You see, I don't particularly enjoy the cold. Nor do I like blades, so I would suggest you to put it away."
I smiled sourly, trying my best to not directly decapitate him. Instead, I kept pressing it even more, not distancing my blade from his neck.
As I did so, a little line of blood flew out and ran into his clothing, letting the sweet smell of devilish blood out.
"You better not act presumptuous, demon, I wouldn't hesitate to kill you."
This one didn't flinch or react to my words, only silently smiling—his red eyes seemingly letting transpire his amusement—before, with his bare hands, grabbing the blade and tightly pressing it.
'Oh, it broke…'
"I understand your arrogance now, you surely are strong." I admitted, looking at what was left of my sword.
That bastard had not only sprained my ankle but also broke my newly acquired sword, not hesitating once.
My blood was boiling inside, reaching a big level of anger.
I was fulminating with rage.
Without waiting anymore, I went into "kill" mode.
