With the misunderstanding cleared, an awkward silence settled between them. Aki continued to feed her, and Misaki, no longer complaining, accepted his care.

One spoon, then another, and another. The only sound in the room was the clinking of the spoon against her teeth as he fed her. Slowly but surely, Misaki finished the porridge.

"Here, drink some water," Aki said, holding a water bottle to her mouth.

Feeling embarrassed but not knowing what else to do, Misaki accepted the water. Being treated like a child was humiliating, but she went along with it, unsure of what to say after the awkward misunderstanding. She shyly thanked him, took the bottle from his hand, and drank a mouthful.

"Thank you," she murmured, looking down and avoiding his gaze.

Aki smiled softly. "It's no problem. I'm just glad you're feeling better. Do you need anything else?"

Misaki shook her head, still feeling a mix of embarrassment and residual confusion. She appreciated his care but couldn't shake the strange tension that lingered between them.

As Aki continued to help her, Misaki couldn't take his kindness any longer. She felt the need to confess. "I am sorry."

Aki looked at her, puzzled. "Sorry for what?"

"Sorry for misunderstanding... no, mistrusting you," she replied meekly, sitting between his legs.

Aki leaned sideways to place the bowl on a nearby table, then picked up the pills that were also on the table while still holding the water bottle. Returning to his previous position, he handed her the pills.

Misaki glanced at the label for a second. It stated one pill was for fever and the other for headache. Her eyes lingered on the labels, a mixture of gratitude and guilt washing over her. She felt embarrassed for having doubted him, and the tenderness he was showing now made her heart ache.

Seeing her hesitation, Aki's expression softened. "They'll help with the fever and headache. Take them."

Swallowing her doubts along with the pills, she took them with a sip of water. Aki watched her, a gentle smile playing on his lips. He placed the water bottle aside and began to massage her forehead, his fingers moving with a soothing rhythm.

Misaki closed her eyes, feeling the tension slowly melt away under his touch. The earlier turmoil in her mind began to settle, replaced by a sense of calm. "Does it still hurt?" Aki's voice was soft, filled with genuine concern.

"A little, but it's getting better," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Though she was feeling better after eating her full and taking the pills, Misaki still felt uneasy. Aki hadn't responded to her previous confession, instead focusing on massaging her, which left her feeling guilty and uncertain.

Feeling her unease, Aki finally spoke, smiling as his hand continued to gently massage her forehead. "It's okay. I enjoyed that roleplay."

"Roleplay?" Misaki was puzzled. Did he really think their intense confrontation was just some kind of game? While she had been tormented with worry and guilt, he had merely seen it as a roleplay. It was frustrating, but she sighed, accepting that it had been a misunderstanding on her part.

"But I still hit you," she said, looking down, the memory of her slap causing her shame.

"That slap? It hurt, but I took my revenge, so we're even," Aki shrugged, his tone light as his hands moved from her head to her shoulders, the massage growing more comforting and reassuring.

"Revenge?" Misaki inquired, puzzled by what he meant when he said he had already taken his revenge.

Aki's devilish smile widened as his hands, which had been massaging her shoulders, slowly crawled up to her neck, pulling her closer to him. Hugging her from behind, he leaned in and whispered in her ear, "The kiss. Remember that one we shared so intimately?"

Feeling the warmth of his breath against her ear and the closeness of his body, Misaki's hair stood on end. A shock ran through her, and the memory of the forceful kiss flashed vividly in her mind. Unconsciously, her hand shot up and struck his face, pushing him backward.

"What the—" Aki exclaimed, caught off guard as her fist made direct contact with his nose.

Misaki's eyes widened in shock at her own reaction, realizing she had hit him harder than she intended. Aki, rubbing his nose, looked at her with a mix of surprise and amusement. "Guess I deserved that," he said with a chuckle, though a hint of pain was evident in his voice.

"Why did you do that?" Misaki demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and confusion.

Aki sighed, lowering his hand from his nose. "I thought it would lighten the mood, but I guess I misjudged. I'm sorry, Misaki. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

The sincerity in his eyes and the genuine regret in his voice softened Misaki's anger. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Just... don't do that again," she said, her voice still shaky.

Aki nodded, giving her a reassuring smile. "I promise. No more surprises like that. But you've returned to normal, right? The tomboyish Misaki that I know?" he teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

Misaki couldn't help but roll her eyes, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "You wish," she retorted, but there was no real heat in her voice. The tension between them seemed to dissipate a bit more with each passing moment.

Aki chuckled, his fingers gently massaging her shoulders again. "That's more like it," he said warmly. "I've missed this side of you."

Seeing Aki was fine, Misaki returned to her position between his legs. Surprised by her action, he looked at her, wondering what she was thinking.

"What?" she asked, not knowing why he was looking at her so intently.

"Nothing," he said, continuing to massage her shoulders.

After a long silence, she asked, "Is your proposal still available?"

"Proposal?" he asked, puzzled. He genuinely couldn't remember.

Misaki felt a flash of embarrassment. If he was joking, it would be mortifying, but if he wasn't, then... "You said I could work for you previously," she said, hoping he would remember.

"Oh, that. I totally forgot," Aki admitted, a hint of embarrassment in his voice. "You know, I waited for three days for your call."

"Sorry," Misaki said again, feeling like she had apologized countless times today.

Aki chuckled softly, shaking his head. "No need to apologize anymore, Misaki. If you still want to work for me, the offer stands."

Misaki nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Thank you," she said, her voice soft but sincere.

Strangely, she didn't find herself hating him anymore. Though she had previously hated him to the core, now, with the misunderstanding cleared and her guilt mixed with his apparent innocence, she felt herself letting go of her vigilance around him.

She didn't know why she sat down between his legs when there was plenty of space around, but whether it was for the massage or something else, she stayed there. Seeing him look at her made her embarrassed, but she played it off.

Feeling his warm hands touching her, she felt good and relaxed. Then she remembered something. As she asked about the work he had offered and heard his reply, she was happy.

"When can I start coming?" she asked.

"Like I said, Saturday and Sunday, you can come anytime. But if you can also come on other days, it's a bonus," he explained.

As they talked about various things, an hour passed since Misaki had called her mother.

"Ah, it's getting late," she exclaimed, noticing the clock hanging near the table where Aki usually kept his books and laptop.

"Is that so? Are you feeling better?" he asked, regretting keeping a clock in his room.

"Yes, my body feels light again. I need to go," she said, getting up.

"Ok, I will drop you off," he suggested.

"It's fine, I can—" she began, but he cut her off.

"It's late now. Are you going to walk alone? Let me drop you off."

"Okay," she agreed, feeling touched by his insistence, though she didn't know why.
