Chereads / Who Will Fall First? / Chapter 34 - 34

Chapter 34 - 34

I hadn't fought about leaving Levi with Connor for one reason. Connor was the villain who had the upper hand here. If I'd fought him about it, he'd activate his plan, and I'd most likely be doomed. If I told anyone about his true intentions, I was dead, but not literally. So, I went outside, and then realized my bike wasn't here. So, I went back inside, and traveled the hallways. They were all dark, only lit up with red lights, and occasionally, I would have to climb up a few stairs. "Connor?" I said, cupping my hands over my mouth so it echoed. The place didn't have furniture or decorations. It was just an empty building. Suddenly, he came around the corner. "Oh-your bike isn't here." He realized. I asked if he could have his goons give me a lift. "No, they all went home. I guess you'll either have to walk through the freezing cold or let me drive you back tomorrow." I pinched the bridge of my nose, already hating my decision. "Well, I won't be able to survive the cold, so I'll stay here." "Good choice! I'll get the pillows and blankets." And he was gone before I could abject.

When he returned, I wasn't expecting very fluffy and soft blankets, or the most perfect pillows. "The two of us will be sleeping in here." Connor told me, opening a door to an empty room. I swallowed. Maybe I shouldn't have agreed to stay here. But it wasn't like being out in the cold was any better. "What about Levi?" I asked, walking into the room. "He's got a room to himself." "Can I get my own room?" The question shot out of my mouth, but it didn't seem to hurt him, and he told me, "No, I'd rather keep an eye on you. Make sure you won't try anything while I'm sleeping." I growled. "Fine. But we're sleeping in separate piles." I laid my blanket down in the corner, along with my pillow, and then I laid down, covering myself with my other blanket. He made his pile inches away from mine. Actually, it was arms length. "Night, Shelby." He said, turning over on his side, giving me a view of his back. I didn't look at him and turned over. "Night."
