Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Freedom

Wrapping ourselves with cloth we found in the storage room, taking everything we could possibly need. We ready ourselves, stepping out the door.

"Are you ready?" I asked Alex

"Yup, I am more than ready" he said determination in his eyes

I then open the seal of the emegency button, and press the emegency button and watch the whole building rang with the sound of the emegency bell.

We both look at each other, then nodded as we get inside the storage room and barricade it. "Let's get out of here" The teacher said standing beside the window

"Alright" I said, I am the first one to try if going down this building with just a rope can help us escape. And if not, I can just go back in time.

As I geared up to go down the building using the rope we found, a surge of fear and adrenaline sent my heart racing. Heights had always been a source of unease for me, and the thought of going down several stories in this building was nothing short of terrifying.

"Hey, are you sure about this?" Alex's voice rang out with concern as he watched me prepare.

Taking a deep breath, I attempted to steady my nerves. "Not entirely, but it's our best shot at escaping this place," I replied, attempting to sound confident despite my growing apprehension. Knowing that I could reset if things went wrong was a small comfort for me despite the fear.

I double-checked the rope, ensuring it could bear my weight. With a nod to Alex and the teacher, I began my descent, cautiously inching my way down the side of the building.

The fear intensified with each movement. Every shift felt precarious, and the height seemed more daunting with every passing second. But I focused on the task at hand, pushing past my anxiety by reminding myself of the urgency of our situation.

"This is terrifying," I admitted to myself, my fear of heights surfacing as I descended. I didn't want to be in this position, but the gravity of our circumstances left me with no other choice. I had faced death before, and I knew I had to confront this fear head-on.

As I reached the third floor, I noticed an open window leading to a classroom teeming with zombies. My heart skipped a beat as panic set in. "Oh… shit," I muttered, realizing the danger looming above. The zombies noticed me and began reaching for my feet, their undead groans adding to the tension.

"Get away from me!" I shouted, frantically trying to lock the window to prevent them from grabbing me. The urgency of the situation spurred me into action, but in my haste, a zombie managed to latch onto my foot.

Fear surged through me, causing my grip on the rope to falter. I desperately kicked at the zombie, managing to free myself and slam the window shut.

"Hey! Are you okay!?" Alex shouted worried

"Hey! Don't make make unnecessary noise. The zombies are coming here already, we can't afford to die now after everything we've been through" The teacher said being serious of the situation

"But…" Alex still worried about me

"I'm also worried about him, but shouting won't help. It will only cause him trouble" the teacher said patting his back

Meanwhile, Relief flooded over me momentarily, but my tired muscles couldn't sustain the strain any longer.

My hand slipped, and for a moment, I hung precariously before finally letting go of the rope.

As I fell, the rush of air and the ground approaching filled me with a mix of terror and resignation. I braced for impact, I will rewind in time anyway. There is nothing to worry about, I convinced myself and close my eyes.

As I fell from the second floor, the world seemed to slow down, and my mind raced with a whirlwind of fear and pain. The impact was jarring, a sharp jolt that shot through my body like a bolt of lightning.

The first sensation was the shock of hitting the ground. It felt like being punched all over, a throbbing ache that radiated from the point of impact. My breath was knocked out of me, leaving me gasping for air as I struggled to comprehend what had just happened.

Then came the sharp, shooting pain. It surged through my limbs, a fiery agony that seemed to sear every nerve ending. I gritted my teeth against the pain, trying to push past it and focus on the task ahead.

My vision blurred momentarily, stars dancing in my peripheral vision as I fought to stay conscious. The pain was overwhelming, a relentless assault on my senses that threatened to overwhelm me.

I could feel the warmth of blood trickling down my arm from where I had scraped against the building during the fall. The metallic tang of blood filled my nostrils, adding to the surreal nature of the moment.

"Wh… I.. didn't die? Fck…" I said softly

Despite the agony, I forced myself to move, to push through the pain and keep going. Adrenaline surged through me, lending me a temporary burst of energy as I struggled to stand and assess the damage.

My body protested every movement, every step sending fresh waves of pain radiating through me. But I knew I had to keep moving, to find a way to escape this nightmare and survive.

With each agonizing step, I felt the weight of my injuries bearing down on me. But I refused to give in to despair, pushing forward with a determination born of desperation and survival instinct.

"Hey Siah, are you alright?" Alex's voice was laced with concern as they successfully made it down.

"Let me lend you a hand," the teacher offered, helping me to stand.

"We need to get out of here," I declared, eager to leave this place behind.

"Sorry," Alex suddenly apologized, catching us off guard.

"Why are you apologizing?" I asked, puzzled by his sudden change in tone.

"I have to go get my girlfriend," he explained.

"What? We were supposed to leave together!" I exclaimed, surprised. "And beside do you even have a girlfriend?"

He chuckled. "Yeah, we've been keeping it low-key. Sorry for not telling you. Anyway, I'll see you around, Siah. Take care," he said with a smile before running off towards another building.

"Alex!" I called out in frustration, but he was already gone.

"Damn it! If only I hadn't fallen," I muttered to myself, lost in regret.

"We need to keep moving," the teacher urged, pulling me along.

"What about Alex?" I asked, torn between wanting to help him and my own limitations.

"Do you honestly think you can help him in your condition?" the teacher asked bluntly. "You'll only be a liability. If you really want to help him, don't go. Focus on getting yourself out of here first."

With a heavy heart, I followed the teacher's lead, knowing that I needed to prioritize my own safety before I could be of any help to anyone else…

"We're here" The teacher announced, as we stopped and stare at the fences in the back of the building. This was the plan, the entrance gate and back gate are no good.

That's why climbing the fences are the only choice we have, the teacher help me climb the fences.

With a determined nod, the teacher assisted me in climbing the fences. Despite my lingering doubts and fears, I pushed myself to focus on the task at hand. The cold metal of the fences dug into my hands as I pulled myself up, each movement bringing us closer to potential freedom.

As I reached the top, I glanced down at the other side. It was a risky descent, but there was no turning back now. With a deep breath, I prepared myself to lower down to the ground, hoping that this escape route would lead us to safety.

As I lowered myself down the fences, the adrenaline surged through me once again. The ground seemed farther away than it appeared from the top. With controlled movements, I carefully descended, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in my hands from gripping the cold metal.

Finally, my feet touched the ground, and I let out a quiet sigh of relief. The teacher followed suit, landing beside me without much difficulty. We were now outside the building, but the danger was far from over.

Looking around, we could see the chaos that had engulfed the campus. Zombies roamed the grounds, and distant screams echoed through the air. It was a grim reminder of the reality we faced.

"We need to get out of here," the teacher said, her voice filled with urgency.

Nodding in agreement, we set off, sticking to the shadows and avoiding any areas that seemed overrun by zombies. Every step was fraught with tension, the fear of being discovered weighing heavily on us.

As we walk and walk, we eventually found a parking area. "You have a car, Ma'am?" I asked her

"Yeah, I have" she said then press the button to her keys and it opens… and also maked a sound. "Oh no…" she said just realizing what she did

"Let's go!" She said in a hurry as we do our best to get to the car, however because of me we move slow.

"Ma'am, you should run! I'll catch you up" I said to her

"What? No way!" She exclaimed "Wait… I can pick you up immediately. Do your best to stay alive okay?" she said

"Yes, ma'am" I replied, then she ran towards her car. With a heavy burden on me, I hide in one of the cars. "A pick-up truck?" I murmured and approached it

"Let's see" looking at the back of the pick-up truck, making there is something useful here I could use.

"Nothing, huh" I said then pull out a cloth, just to find a screwdriver laying around. "He must've forgot it" I said

After reaching it, a black car pulled up. "Ma'am?" I asked then he rolled down the window. "Get in! Now!" She shouted in hurry

Moving as fast as I could, I approach her. "What's the hurry?" I asked as I get inside

"That is why" she said looking at the rear mirror, "Oh… fck" I muttered under my breath as I saw horde of zombies running towards us.

"Let's go! Let's go!" I hurry her, "I know!" She shouted back
